Chevrolet Caprice Classic Police Package 9c1 1995 Lt1 Engine on 2040-cars
Greensboro, North Carolina, United States
Up for auction is a 1995 Chevrolet Caprice Police Package. This vehicle has the infamous LT-1 engine and G80 Posi-Trac rear end with only 95,000 original miles on it! This is currently my daily driver, so miles will be higher when auction ends. What I have done since i bought it from New Jersey:
Had entire vehicle painted New York State Police Blue Metallic Sapphire and all chrome painted matte black. HEADTURNING! Had all four wheels powder coated with mirror black and new chevy centercaps Replaced all front headlights with new clear style, added clear led inserts to sides Added Setina PB100 Push Bumper (I only put it on for shows, the 4 bolts remain on the front bumper) Replaced interior carpet with midnight blue carpet Fixed cracks in dashpad (as best I could, I would eventually replace this with a new one if I could find it) and painted it truck bedliner black Replaced am/fm radio with am/fm radio cd player with a cool added input that goes direct to the amp to run your iphone, ect off the front of it using a regular headphone jack Replaced all 4 speakers, added 6x9's in the rear and 4x6 in doors Replaced radiator and hoses Replaced all 4 shocks Replaced spark plugs and wires Added Stratolite rear deck lights, took out halogen bulb and replaced it with leds, they are wired to a flasher in the trunk (i only put these on for shows) i can turn the front side leds and these on at shows and draw a small amount of current using the leds Added new carpet and storage box to the trunk Added new taillight assemblies and installed 3 strobes in each. they are run to a power supply in the trunk. Added a center console with armrest, cupholders, 2 extra 12 volt cig lighter plugs, 3 switches, and a laptop computer mount (expensive and can be removed at winning bidders request) There are 2 antennas on the trunk, 1 is a 3/4 hole mount and the other is on an "L" bracket, see pics This car rides great, like you are on a boat! There is some rust in the engine compartment (see pic) and some underneath, but it wasnt enough for my paint guy to redo it. We did patch some places in the rear wheel wells and 1 at the passenger side floorboard. This car was featured at the Police Fleet Expo last year in Charlotte, NC (that is where the pics are taken with the push bumper and rear deck lights on it). The passenger front window and the drivers rear window go off the track. Tires have about 25% left (full spare in trunk) so plan on some new shoes soon. Overall thats about it, great car, and hard to find. I am also including the Impala SS grill and just ordered the trim that is off the front drivers window. Hate to get rid of her but im moving on to another project. This vehicle is for sale locally and i reserve the right to end this auction at any time! I am willing to deliver or meet winning bidder 500 miles for cost of fuel too and from plus $100.00 bucks |

A Chevy Camaro hybrid? That's what EcoCAR3 could bring
Fri, Apr 10 2015Figuring out a way for a hybrid powertrain to co-exist with the performance expectations of a classic American muscle car is a challenge that could vex that most experienced of automotive engineers. It's a challenge, in fact, being handed to a bunch of college students. Over the next four years, students from 16 North American colleges and universities will attempt to wring fuel efficiency from a 2016 Chevy Camaro as part of EcoCAR3, an advanced-vehicle technology competition sponsored by the Department of Energy, General Motors and others. They'll be attempting to use hybrid or plug-in hybrid technology while not sacrificing the performance of the Camaro, which was selected in part because the current model achieves just 17 miles per gallon in city driving and 28 MPGs on the highway, per EPA numbers. Students will get the latest version of the vehicle to work on, one that is expected to be unveiled next month on Belle Isle in Detroit. "If we still want to produce V8 Camaros, we're going to have to look at alternative methods of propulsion," said Al Oppenheiser, the chief engineer on the Camaro. "So the ideas that these college teams come up with could very easily be adapted to a car like the Camaro." Unlike similar competitions that reward fuel efficiency in vehicles, EcoCAR seeks those gains while emphasizing cost and consumer acceptance of these vehicles. The cars shouldn't look like experiments; they should look like everyday vehicles on the road. Previous competitions have allowed the teams to use whatever powertrain they desired. This time, EcoCAR officials designed the competition to concentrate on hybrid, hybrid-electric and diesel options. Competitors won't have the option of using hydrogen fuel cells as they have in the past. Last year, a team from Colorado State built a vehicle that contained both hydrogen and electric power sources. This year's limit is a curious choice, as some automakers such as Toyota have placed heavy bets on fuel cells in recent years. General Motors also runs a fuel-cell program. With the focus on cost and practicality, however, the program officials wanted to narrow the framework of the contest. "We always have some good decisions on what to make within the scope or out of scope," said Jim Kolhoff, global director of software engineering for General Motors.
2016 Chevy Volt to make auto show debut this season
Wed, Jul 30 2014Ever since we saw that spy shots of the 2016 Chevy Volt, we've been hungering for more information on the next-gen version of GM's green halo car. It appears we might not have long to wait, at least for an official tease. An inside source that wishes to remain anonymous told AutoblogGreen that GM will make two announcements regarding the second-gen Volt at the CAR Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, MI next week. The first, and most intriguing, is that that we will get our first glimpse of the new Volt at some point during the upcoming auto show season. That means either Los Angeles later this year or else Detroit, Chicago or New York in early 2015. The second bit of news is that GM will be moving production of the electric motors from Mexico to Michigan. Details and official confirmation are, of course, missing and Chevrolet declined comment to AutoblogGreen. We should know more next week.
Weekly Recap: Geneva's splendor reflects growing demand for ultra-luxury cars
Sat, Mar 7 2015Geneva is one of the most glittering auto shows in the world, but the list of high-powered and bespoke luxury cars was decadent this year even by the rich standards of the Swiss exhibition. It's great for enthusiasts to revel in the flame-throwing Aston Martin Vulcan, the racing-inspired elegance of the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 concept and the insane performance of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce, but there's a reason for all of this opulence: the luxury market is big business. And it's growing. IHS Automotive forecasts that so-called ultra-premium sales will nearly triple this decade from 123,000 to 353,000 units around the world. The estimate includes brands like Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari and Rolls-Royce, but doesn't count BMW, Mercedes and Audi, which offer less expensive models in addition to their high-end flagships. Though IHS includes Porsche and its relatively large volume in the study, the ultra-premium segment is still set grow at about the same rate, even without the German automaker's figures. So what is propelling all of this growth in the most expensive segment of the auto industry? Put simply, there's more rich people. IHS Automotive principal analyst Tim Urquhart pointed to economic expansion in China, market recovery in the United States and a surge in the lucrative technology sector as contributing factors. This dovetails with a research report by UK-based Oxfam, an international relief organization, which found the world's richest one-percent owned 48 percent of global wealth in 2014, and it's expected to increase to more than 50 percent by 2016. View 17 Photos Carmakers are moving quickly to capitalize with new products, expanding their portfolios with low-volume speedsters like the 800-hp V12 Vulcan at Geneva, and plans to enter new segments, like Rolls-Royce's strategy to make an SUV. "Ultra-premium carmakers are looking to explore ways of growing their product offerings, and thus their bottom lines, in this most potentially profitable of segments," Urquhart wrote in a report on the Geneva show. In a nutshell, there are more choices for people with more money. It's a good time to have expensive taste. Other News & Notes 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata production launches It won't be long now.
