1985 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z. 305 TPI w/ Automatic.
I purchased the car from the original owner who absolutely babied it. They even kept a record book inside the car at all times, recording every stop for fuel w/ mileage, location and date. They also recored when they took it in and out of storage for the year. See the pictures for a look at the book. This is as nice as an IROC as you will find for the money. I had a professional appraisal done on the car which can be read in the pictures. The pictures do not hide anything. The underside of the car looks as if it has never seen a drop of rain. You can see a video of the car on YouTube by searching "1985 white IROC-Z Hudsonville". The car has every feature available for a 1985 IROC. The previous owner did change the rear axle to a 3:73 and installed a SLP exhaust system. The car has been regularly maintained through out the years and is in perfect mechanical shape. Interior is in excellent shape. The car does have a Alpine CD player that came with crazy speakers installed into aftermarket kick panels. I removed those and installed original clean kick panels w/o carpet. Please contact me with any questions about the car. Ryan @ 616.217.6160. I couldn't figure out how to switch the position of the appraisal so I apologize for the inconvenience. I can email it in a PDF by request. On Sep-13-14 at 14:14:13 PDT, seller added the following information: I recently added another video on YouTube since there were some questions about the car's performance. It is titled the same as the walk around video. |

Now's the time to buy a cheap first-gen Chevy Volt
Fri, Sep 4 2015Would you fork over 18 grand and change for a new Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle? If so, there are some for the taking. Since the updated Volt is about ready to hit dealerships, current models have become a lot easier to afford. For some reason, it appears the best deals are in Iowa, recalling some sort of Field of Dreams-style whispering voice luring car shoppers to their first plug-in vehicle, according to EV Obsession. To wit, a couple of 2014 Volts with a sticker price in the $35,000 range are being offered for less than $26,000 in that Midwestern state. Factor in the $7,500 tax credit from the federal government, and the Volt can be had for less than the sticker price of a Toyota Prius C compact hybrid. Chevy started priming that particular pump earlier this year, though didn't appear to have a ton of success. This past spring, Chevrolet was offering some impressive lease deals on the Volt, with monthly payments dropping to less than $250. There's a reason buyers will want to wait for the second-generation Volt. The 2016 version will have a 53-mile all-electric range, up from the 38-mile range in the current version, along with 106 MPGe. Some will say that the style is improved as well, and the first-gen's touch-sensitive control panel was discarded for more buttons. Still, if you're more concerned about price than having the newest car on the lot, now's a good time to shop. And speaking of the current version, sales remain down substantially. Last month, Chevy moved 1,380 Volts, a 45-percent plunge from a year earlier. Through August, Volt sales were down 37 percent this year compared to 2014 numbers, to 8,315 units.
The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top.
