1971 Camaro Rally Sport Original on 2040-cars
Hudson, New York, United States
1971 Original Rally Sport Camaro. I bought this about a year ago and planned on
restoring it, but plans have changed.
Motor is a 350 2bbl originally, and now has a weiand intake and Holley
4bbl that could use a rebuild. Also has
the original TH350 transmission. All this was explained to me form the previous
buyer. Motor had a valve issue the last
owner said. He bought a set of
remanufactured DART 400 heads (cast iron) replaced the originals and the 2bbl
intake with a 4bbl and drove it for 1 year in early 2002. Car then was in dry storage until I bought it
a year ago, and hadn't ran for a couple years.
I syphoned all the bad gas out did a couple oil changes, new fuel pump,
plugs, and filters and got it to run. It
runs good, but it needs to be gone through before driving. I would put new tires on it, and double check
the brakes (There are no leaks and peddle is firm, but I haven't looked at
them. Shifter needs a new cable, due to
it being a little sloppy but it shifted in all gears when I drove it to where
it is stored now. (Approx 2 miles) None
of the electrical has been butchered and the EEC is still present under the
hood. Info I received on the car.
This car was restored in the late 90s with half quarters, and a driver’s
door. The interior was changed then from
sandalwood to the black you see in the pictures. Original color of the car is code 62 Burnt
Orange, which you can still see on the inner and outer rocker pic that I
posted. The interior is code 777 Sandalwood
interior, and the vinyl top was Code F brown originally. The original rally sport steering wheel is
present and in great shape, the dash and staple shifter trim is wood grain. The gauge carrier tabs are broken and I have
a new OER piece that goes with the car. The past owner as I stated had it in dry
storage with the windows open, as well as the hood and trunk to keep moisture
out. The body work is coming through where the half quarters were
put on as you can see in the pictures.
The floors are original and solid, along with the rockers, front
fenders, doors, hood, and radiator support are all good. The battery tray is gone and the portion of
the inner fender under the battery tray is rusted, the trunk lid has a spot in
the driver side corner that is rusted as well.
The trunk pan right in the center is a little rusty and has pin holes. The vinyl top is in good shape with no tears,
the windshield and rear window do not leak and the channels are not
rusted. The windshield does have a crack
and would need to be replaced, the rest of the glass is fine. Lights all worked except the low beams. The dash lights worked, and the heat blows. This is a really really good solid platform
for a quick resto, or tune it up for cruising this year as it is. Color combo is awesome with the white
interior. All and All great chance to
own a Rally Sport Camaro. Besides the gauge carrier that goes with the car, and the
original heads and 2bbl carb and intake manifold. I also have a new Goodmark outer rear wheel
house that I received in a load of parts.
Also a couple of brand new factory assembly manuals as well. This is a New York car and comes with a Transferable
Registration only as titles were not issued for car of this age here in
NY. A bill of sale will come as well. I am away during the week and it will be hard for me to
answer any questions. Car is being sold
as is and will need to be trailered home.
If you are the winning bidder email me with your phone number and I will
be able to call you on Friday around 5 Eastern Standard Time. Good Luck and happy bidding. |

2016 Chevy Camaro performance figures released
Mon, Sep 14 2015If you want to make a car faster, there are two sure-fire ways to get the job done – add power and/or reduce weight. Chevy has done both for the 2016 Camaro, putting as much as 455 horsepower into its muscle coupe and shaving a few hundred pounds from every trim. That range-topping power comes courtesy of a 6.2-liter V8 engine, and it's enough grunt to push an automatic-equipped Camaro SS to 60 miles per hour in just 4.0 seconds flat (4.3 seconds with a manual) and down the quarter mile in 12.3 seconds at 116 mph (12.5 at 115 for the stick). Not coincidentally, those acceleration specs, at least on paper, put the V8-powered Camaro SS just above the Mustang GT on the muscle-car pecking order. When the road gets twisty, Chevy claims the Camaro SS can generate as much as .97 g on the skidpad. And, thanks in part to its Goodyear Eagle F1 summer tires, the SS can stop from 60 in as little as 117 feet. We look forward to finding out how nimble the new Camaro feels when compared to its primary competitors. <p>Your browser does not support iframes.</p> Moving down one notch to the 335-hp 3.6-liter V6, properly equipped 2016 Camaro coupes can hit 60 in as few as 5.1 seconds and cover the quarter in 13.5 at 103. Perhaps even more intriguingly, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and its 275 horsepower (the only configuration quicker with a manual transmission, incidentally) can propel the Camaro to 60 in 5.4 seconds and through the 'ol 1320 in 14 seconds flat. That's seriously quick, but buyers comparing the Camaro to the Mustang will find that the EcoBoost 2.3-liter is a bit more powerful (310 hp and 320 lb-ft) and quicker (5.1 seconds to 60). Chevy is making lots of noise about the efforts its engineers went through to shed weight from the 2016 Camaro, going so far as to shave down suspension bolts so that no thread went unthreaded. The weight-saving obsession pays off – base Camaro models are down 390 pounds while the SS model drops 223 pounds over the 2015. The 2016 Camaro SS boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 8.1 lbs per pony, a 14-percent improvement over the last-gen. Even though weight is down, chassis stiffness is said to be up by 28 percent over the fifth-gen Camaro coupe. Also of note: The Camaro is now lighter than the Mustang across the board when comparing like-to-like configuration levels. The 2016 Chevy Camaro starts at $26,695 (including $995 for destination).
Chevy confirms Corvette Stingray Convertible for Geneva
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Want proof that General Motors has increased global ambitions for its 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray? It's staging the world premiere of the model's convertible variant at the Geneva Motor Show early next month.
As previously rumored, the droptop rendered above will debut at the Swiss show, making its first appearance anywhere on March 5. According to Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet, the location makes sense because Corvette "...is an icon that has long been recognized and admired even in countries where it's never officially been offered."
While neither Chevrolet nor the Corvette has a major sales presence in Switzerland, the Bowtie's European headquarters is located in Zurich (about three hours to the northeast of Geneva) and GM has made it clear that it wants to build the Chevrolet brand up across Europe.
2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible is the track car for sun worshippers
Fri, 11 Apr 2014
Supercharged, 6.2-liter V8? Check. Seven-speed manual? Check. Obsession with weight? Check.
What did you expect when Chevrolet said it was bringing a new Corvette variant to the 2014 New York Auto Show? Maybe a sticker and trim package, like the C6 Corvette Grand Sport or a tie-in deal like the Black Widow car from Chicago? On the opposite end, maybe there was an even more hardcore Z06 waiting in the wings. Who knew?
