During the 22 month build, beginning in Sept 2014, the Camaro body was customized and mated with a modern 430 hp LS3 Camaro motor together with it’s 6 speed 6L80E automatic transmission and the original 3.07 posi-traction rear end and axles. Every part, bolt, and nut was disassembled and either restored to better than original, or replaced with new parts. It retains all original body steel. Where it was appropriate to do so, original systems were restored or replaced with new parts, including power steering, new power disk brakes, 4 power windows, C5 Corvette power front bucket seats, new steering wheel, new center console with shift, new gauges, new radio, new speakers and Rally Sport appearance equipment. Original ’67 Camaro This frame off Custom started as a 1967 RS/SS Camaro with a Body Style Plate on the firewall showing an unusually high number of special options installed by the Los Angeles GM plant. These options included Granada Gold paint with a black vinyl top, a custom interior with Gold custom bucket seats, Group 1 power windows, Group 2 Powerglide transmission and center console, Group 3 rear window defogger, Z23 interior décor, special gauges, clock, Z22 Rally Sport (RS) Equipment, Group 4 optional Super Sport (SS) 350 V-8 engine, and the Group 5 Appearance Group including bumper guards, floor mats, door edge guards, and custom shoulder belts. Custom Body Modifications Custom body modifications include a new front-hinged, reverse opening, gas shock-assisted Cowl Induction hood and shaved emblems. All body gaps are perfect. Modern Corvette operators replaced the original headlight door operators. Chassis & Suspension The Camaro’s chassis remains factory stock in specification except for new Ridetech front shocks and coil springs specifically designed for ’67 Camaro ride quality and stance plus new rear shocks. The chassis rides on a new set of American Racing polished aluminum Torq-Thrust wheels with new all-season high-performance tires. Electrical The electrical system features all new wiring harnesses, relays, gauges, switches and battery. Fuel System All new system, including EFI fuel tank, in-tank fuel pump, fuel gauge sending unit, pressure regulator and fuel lines. Power Steering The original Camaro power steering box is coupled to the LS3 Power steering pump to complete the system. Power Brakes The original Camaro power-brake booster, and new modern disc brakes front and rear provide a perfect working combination. Cooling Cooling is provided by a C5 Corvette radiator, shroud and electric fan. Heating and Air Conditioning Heating is provided by a new heater core and hoses. A C5 Corvette A/C condenser and modern compressor are in place, ready for the addition of an AC evaporator, dryer, hoses and controls for an operating A/C system. Exhaust Spent exhaust gases are expelled from an all new custom mandrel- bent 2 ˝-inch exhaust system with V-band connectors and new oxygen sensors for the LS3’s state-of-the-art Electronic Fuel Injection system Summary All work was professionally done to show quality. The odometer shows 240 miles, which reflects driving tests for refinements and adjustments during the 6 month shake-down period. This ’67 Camaro RS/SS Custom provides the best of both worlds – iconic first-generation styling and modern performance and technology – all in one outstanding show package!

2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette wastes no time zooming into Jay Leno's Garage

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Where else would you expect the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to show up first? Although this time it isn't exactly in Jay Leno's Garage, Leno instead playing an away game at Brown's Classic Auto in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nor does Leno drive the car, instead taking an 11-minute walkaround of the new American sports car with General Motors design head Ed Welburn, the same man who recently brought by a string of classic Corvettes to the talk show host's California compound.
It is, admittedly, a love-fest for the American sports car now featuring 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, but one that also features admissions about previous Corvette seats like "they were kinda rough," and the explanation that labeling the coupe "Stingray" means not having to call it "the base Corvette." On top of that, Welburn also explains the proper application of the term "dashboard." You can watch it all in the video below.
