Up for sale is great all around classic truck. It is a 1976 Chevrolet C30 Crew Cab Long Bed Dually. This vehicle can be a daily driver, family truck, trailer hauler, boat puller, etc. It has a 2" trailer hitch receiver, 4-pin trailer electronics connection, and a trailer brake controller. The bed has a thick steel floor and bed liner for many years of trouble free use. All four doors open and close properly, and all manual windows work. All the are in working condition, but the tachometer is inaccurate. The seats are comfortable, and the ride is nice and comfortable, especially for a 1 ton! There is a wobble sometimes; most notably when coasting in the 40s. Two new balanced tires up front should take care of it. The rear tire are fine with plenty of tread I drive it just the way it is with no issues. The mileage listed is what the odometer says. The engine is not the original; it is a TBI engine from a 1993 Chevrolet truck. The TBI has been disassembled and cleaned. Neither the engine or transmission leak any fluid. The rear end has been cleaned, and doesn't leak fluid either. The lights, dome light, stereo cassette, wipers, and horn work. This Scottsdale is fairly well optioned with chrome window trim and air conditioning! The AC works, and that's pretty darn awesome for a 1976 truck! The billet grill, chrome bumpers, chrome tipped dual exhaust, and polished 16" Alcoa wheels all look great. Alcoa aluminum truck wheels are expensive, and these ones are straight, shiny, and in great shape. The exhaust has a nice throaty note that is nice and mellow. The paint looks and shines great, but is not perfect. It is an older paint job (imperfections outlined in "condition description". The color is a metallic blue. I think it's similar to Rip Tide Blue on a Cadillac Escalade. The seats and door panels all match and are in great shape. The tailgate is in good shape and works, but it does not match. It's a darker shade of blue, and has a 6.2L badge. This is a 350 vehicle, and was never a diesel. I've tried to include all the info (good and bad). If you come up with any questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks so much for visiting this listing for an awesome heavy Chevy. Check out some great pics: 1976 Chevy C30. 350 TBI, AT, PB, PS, working factory AC!!! Runs and drives well. Comfortable ride. In great condition for an unrestored truck of it's age. Very rare in this configuration: longed, crew cab, Dually, 1 ton!! The NADA values are great for this truck; I think, sometimes NADA values for classic vehicles may be a little exaggerated, except for fully restored vehicles, which are selling for top dollar at classic car auctions all over the world. Make an easy restoration of this truck to add equity, or use it as is. Great, good looking daily driver type truck. Pricing info at the bottom. Here are the values for the truck: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1976/Chevrolet/C30/Pickup-1-Ton-Fleetside-Crew-Cab/Values I believe the truck is in above average condition, which would put it's NADA value in the $10k region. I don't expect to sell it for that kind of money. Any offers between Low Retail and Average Retail will be considered. Offers much below Low Retail would probably make me more interested in keeping than in selling. There does seem to be a growing value trend for this vehicle. More interested in cash, but trades that would perk my interest are: VW campers, step vans, diesels, motorboat, ????, etc., but mostly just cash money. Call Rob @ 843-764-9953. Sunday Drive: Taking a gaze into the automotive crystal ball

Sun, Oct 22 2017

Mankind has long been fascinated by the future. So it makes sense that this past week's top stories were all about cars, trucks, and SUVs that won't be hitting the market until the 2019 model year. And right at the top of the list is the Ram 1500. We've come to know Ram as the truck maker that styles its pickups with cues cribbed from big rigs, but that look has slowly evolved over time into something uniquely its own. The next Ram 1500 continues this trend, with a newly refined look that we can't wait to see in person. Up next is the 2019 Chevy Silverado. Pickup trucks have been, continue to be, and will remain the best-selling vehicles in America. And General Motors is a leader in the field, with two distinct offerings with which to entice buyers, one from the bread-and-butter Chevrolet brand and one wearing the slightly more upscale GMC badge. The Chevy looks to get LED lighting elements for 2019, which ought to keep the truck from looking dated when compared to the Ford F-150 and the previously mentioned Ram 1500. From there we move past pickup trucks and into SUVs and sedans. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee looks to get toned down a bit with its next refresh, and the '19 BMW 3 Series continues its slow evolutionary journey at the top of its aspirational sales pedestal. Finally, spy shots give way to official production reveals for the 2019 Audi A7 and Polestar 1. This pair of European luxury cars won't compete with one another – one is a rakish hatchback and the other a sports coupe – any further than for the eyeballs of our readers, but both proved popular enough to merit inclusion in our weekly roundup. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. 2019 Ram 1500 spotted without the classic crosshairs 2019 Chevy Silverado spied with new LED accents 2019 Jeep Cherokee reveals a much more normal face 2019 BMW 3 Series spy shots reveal production lights, new interior details 2019 Audi A7 revealed: More torque, refined styling Polestar 1 First Look | The 600 horsepower hybrid Scandinavian Green Audi BMW Chevrolet Jeep RAM Volvo Truck Hatchback SUV Future Vehicles Hybrid Luxury Performance Sedan sunday drive polestar 1

Can DARPA hack into a Chevy Impala through OnStar?

Mon, Feb 9 2015

An ex-video game wizard named Dan Kaufman tracked a circuitous route to becoming the head of the Software Innovation Division at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. DARPA normally makes these pages because of its work with autonomous vehicles and automobile technology that overlaps with military applications, but for the past five years Kaufman and his multiple research teams have been working on creating unhackable software code that could be used in military drones. Part of that work has involved hacking into just about everything else, and as a segment on 60 Minutes reveals, that includes cars. The masterminds discovered a way to hack into OnStar, the General Motors telematics system. After figuring out how to hook into OnStar's emergency communication system, they overwhelmed it with data. While the computer was busy trying to manage the overrun of data, the research team inserted code that took control of the sedan's other computers, giving it control. So while reporter Leslie Stahl tooled around in a parking lot, a DARPA researcher with a laptop would occasionally take control of the car, like by applying its brakes or, conversely, removing the ability for Stahl to use the brakes. Hacking into vehicles has been in the news for years: Car and Driver ran a feature on the various ways cars could be hacked in 2011, two hackers released a car-hacking code at the hacker-fest Defcon in 2013 and demonstrated how it worked on a Toyota Prius and Ford Escape, and German researchers demonstrated how they could hack into BMW's Connected Drive remote-services system last week via an attack on the cars' telematics units. This isn't about GM or Onstar or the future; hacking into cars of all kinds isn't coming, it's here, and it doesn't take the half-billion-dollar annual budget of a small DARPA division to do it. Check out the 60 Minutes video on the CBS site (you can watch the entire video from a mobile device without logging in). The OnStar hacking starts at 6:45, but it's worth watching what leads up to that. News Source: Jalopnik Chevrolet Safety Technology Infotainment Autonomous Vehicles Videos Sedan hacking 60 minutes

GM's European Opel division may eventually go all-electric

Wed, Feb 15 2017

General Motors' Opel division in Europe may transform itself into an all-electric vehicle maker by 2030. Granted, a lot can happen between now and then, including a potential buyout by French automaker PSA Group. Regardless, Opel appears to view its electric future beyond the Ampera-e, which is the sister vehicle to the Chevrolet Bolt, and more like Tesla. Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann indicated that focusing on electric drivetrains would be a superior strategy to expanding its EV technology while pushing forward with conventional drivetrains, says Automotive News Europe, citing comments Neumann made to German publication Manager Magazin. General Motors could make the decision to move towards an all-electric vehicle line for Opel as soon as May. Of course, that depends on whether Opel is bought out by PSA, the parent country to Peugeot and Citroen. PSA is in talks to buy General Motors' Opel and Vauxhall divisions, though government and labor representatives in Germany have expressed concerns over potential job losses from the proposed buyout, Reuters says. Regardless, GM has hinted at expanding its electric-vehicle line far beyond the Bolt, which has a 238-mile single-charge range and debuted late last year. Mary Barra, in an interview with CNET, said the Bolt's all-electric platform could be applied to a "huge range of vehicles," though wasn't specific about additional EV models. Opel first showed off its Ampera-e at the Paris Motor Show last fall. The name of the model raised some eyebrows because the Ampera badge had been previously used by Opel for the sister version of the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in. Either way, Opel is looking to take on Renault for electric-vehicle sales supremacy across the Pond. Related Video:
