ITEM: 1990 Chevrolet 454ss truck well preserved in the Tucson, AZ desert.
CONDITION: This is my dream truck, that unfortunately I don't have time or money to complete. This is a true 454ss (see pic of title that has 454 in vin) The previous owner had the engine completely rebuilt top to bottom 2 years ago, transmission serviced at the same time, and complete new exhaust fitted. I can't find any rust on this truck besides extremely light surface rust where undercoating paint wore off. There is no bondo on this truck, and body is extremely straight and free of rust, including the bed. This truck runs very strong and is extremely fast. A/C blows, but isn't cold. Headlights and blinkers work well. Windows and door locks work. All gauges work except for the oil pressure gauge. When I bought the truck, I had new grey leather seats put in.(in one picture of the seats, my camera had something on the lens and it looks like the headrest of the seat is damaged. This is just my camera. The seats are brand new and in excellent condition.) I also had new serpentine belt installed, new alternator, plugs and wires installed, a tune up including resetting and calibrating the computer, replacement of the coolant temp sensor, radiator flush, new fuel pump, new fuel injectors, air filter, and an oil change. I don't have receipts for any of the work, but you will easily understand once you see it and drive it. Please note, that I am selling this truck as is, and have disclosed what I know to be true of the owner's original work history , and the other work I personally had done.
ISSUES: As you can see in the pictures, this truck needs a paint job. The body is extremely straight and has no bondo or repairs but there is a small ding right above the passenger side headlight where the hood meets the grill. It's about the size of a silver dollar and you can see it in the pics. The interior needs attention, including the headliner and inside door panels need recovering( I do have two same year doors with good grey skins I didn't install yet that you can have free.) The original owner painted the dash black....why? Also, the driver's side door is sprung(wont fully latch). The mechanism is shot, but again I have the other doors(these doors also have complete power windows, door locks, etc including patch cords). I took the truck to emissions and passed the loaded test, but not the idle test. The man who just tuned it up and reset the computer said it would need a new catalytic converter and quoted me $167.00 installed including tax. I am not a mechanic. I am actually a school teacher. Therefore, whoever buys this truck needs to know that it will need work to pass emissions, may have issues I am not aware of and is sold as is. Again, see my feedback, and know that I acknowledge everything I can about an item for sale and people are always happy. Thanks.
SHIPPING: I will not arrange shipping, and the truck must be picked up at my house in Tucson, AZ.
PAYMENT: I accept PAYPAL for a down payment and will take the balance in cash upon pickup. Please make full payment and plans to pick up vehicle within 7 days.

2015 Callaway Corvette Z06 gets new supercharger, adds $17K to starting price
Tue, Apr 21 2015Callaway's proud tradition of modifying Chevrolets is about to add a very significant chapter this weekend, as the company prepares to unveil a modified version of the 2015 Corvette Z06. The engine mods are simple, though we expect them to be very potent. That's because Chevy has replaced the factory supercharger with a new "GenThree" unit that's nearly a third larger than what's bolted on in Bowling Green. A new intercooler is also added, along with a new high-flow intake system. Beyond that, the changes are exclusively of the subtle cosmetic variety. There's new badging inside and out, as well as new engine covers, floormats and an underhood plaque. Naturally, there's documentation to verify the Callaway Z06's authenticity, and the comfort that comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. Callaway has priced the upgrade package at $16,995, in addition to the price of the stock Z06. While we're still waiting to hear official power figures, that seems like a reasonable asking price for what were wagering will be a major increase in power. The Callaway Z06 will debut this weekend at the National Corvette Museum's C7 Bash in Bowling Green, KY. Expect more details following the debut. Scroll down for the official press release. Related Video: 2015 Callaway Corvette Z06 to Debut at National Corvette Museum The 2015 Callaway Corvette Z06 will debut at the National Corvette Museum C7 Bash in Bowling Green, Kentucky, April 23 through April 25. Here's a sneak peek at the new package. Based on Chevrolet's track-proven Z06, Callaway engineers' no-compromise approach takes this Corvette to an astounding power level. While advertised Callaway horsepower and torque are pending final validation, the Callaway package adds Callaway's new GenThree supercharger system with 32% more displacement than the stock Z06 supercharger, improved manifold design and unique triple-element intercooling system. Callaway engineers recognize that a key contributor to maximizing power is reduction of inlet air temperature. By exposing the supercharger's large plenum area to outside ambient airflow, the design takes advantage of the significant charge air temperature reduction provided by convective cooling. The completely redesigned intercooling system also helps maintain nearly ambient charge air temperature with exceptionally low air restriction.
That time we lapped Indy with Tony Kanaan in a Corvette Z06
Sat, May 23 2015We're here in Indianapolis, IN, attending this weekend's 99th running of the Indy 500. The big event happens tomorrow, but the city is buzzing today with all sorts of pre-race festivities. For us, that means checking out Indianapolis Motor Speedway a day early, and getting a hot lap around the racetrack in the official Indy 500 pace car – a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Our driver for the occasion is IndyCar racer Tony Kanaan, who won the Indianapolis 500 in 2013. Of course, he'll be competing tomorrow, leaving pace duties to none other than Jeff Gordon. Check out our minute-and-a-half-long lap of the Indy 500 track in the video above, where Kanaan hugs the wall in true race style, getting the Z06 past 150 miles per hour on the back straight. Stay tuned for more Indy 500 coverage later this weekend.
The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top.
