1971 Chevrolet K10 Pickup on 2040-cars
Belgrade, Montana, United States
I have a 1971 K10, the truck has been pretty much completely rebuilt. I had it down to the frame, wire wheeled it and painted it. It has four inch sky jacker lift, with new leafs no lift blocks. It has 3/4 ton axles out of a 1979 suburban with disk brakes all the way around. 35” BFG mud terrain tires and black steel wheels. It has a LS2 6.0L fuel injected motor out of a 2003 chevy pickup, new sanderson headers, and all new two into one three inch exhaust. Turbo 350 transmission, and has a wicked Jeds machining 203 to 205 doubler kit transfercase, that gives more gearing options. The truck has no rust!! The truck just got out of the paint shop. It’s painted the original 71 green that has just a little flake. New grill. It has doors off of a 72 chevy, new interior. New bucket seats and center counsel. All new rubber around doors and windows. New auto meter gauges, with a new plastic gauge cluster. Also has a new chassis painless wiring harness and a Howell engine harness. New steering column and wheel, intermediate shaft and steering gear box. It has a 35 gallon fuel tank in the back of the box, behind the tool box. Powder coated bumpers and other little parts. The truck has less than 1000 miles on it since it was finished. |

Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]
Mon, 18 Aug 2014For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.
"Turbo" Chevrolet Camaro is a 700-HP fantasy car come to life [w/video]
Thu, 07 Feb 2013For a concept car built to promote an animated movie about a snail that wants to go racing, this thing ain't half bad. The outsized monster you see before you started life as a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and then went through a big-time Hollywood makeover before being positioned on the Chevrolet stand here in Chicago.
This 2013 "Turbo" Camaro Coupe is getting the promotion machine ratcheted up for a new DreamWorks tale by the name of, you guessed it, Turbo. Coming this summer, the movie will follow one snail's quest to become a race driver worthy of making the cut at the Indy 500. Like many DreamWorks vehicles before it, we're guessing that the petrolhead snail will star in a movie that adults (especially racing fans) with have no trouble watching with their kids. Check out the trailer below to see if you agree.
As for the car, we're told that it is "instrumental" in transforming Turbo from snail into racer. Helping the beastly pony car in this mighty task, is an ankle-cracking front splitter matched by a ungodly huge rear wing out back, a COPO hood and a supercharged (yes, supercharged) V8 engine making more than 700 horsepower. 24-inch wheels all the way around - 10-inches wide in front and 15-inches wide in back - should allow the "Turbo" Camaro to hook up with ease, as well.
Race Recap: 2013 Indianapolis 500 better than Bollywood; all the emotion, none of the music [spoilers]
Mon, 27 May 2013If the 2013 Indy 500 were a movie it would be the one expected to win all the little statues come awards season, and if it were an athlete it would have made spectators watch in awe as it broke record after record. And this kind of talk comes after last year's race was considered one of the best ever - the last lap hijinks in 2012 and Takuma Sato's crash leading to a podium ceremony straight out of a Golden Globes tearjerker.
But this year's race delivered more than anyone expected, from the 250,000 fans to the commentators to the IndyCar series itself and, finally, to the guy who hopped through a two-mile window on Lap 197 to take the lead and keep it until the end.
