1978 Chevy C10 Pick Up Truck W/ Inline Six And 3 Speed On The Tree on 2040-cars

US $2,450.00
Year:1978 Mileage:150000
Location:

Palo Alto, California, United States

Palo Alto, California, United States

It pains me to think about selling this truck, but the time has come. This past summer, I drove it across the country with all my belongings and a trailer with two motorcycles. In Alabama, I had the clutch replaced, so that only has a few thousand miles on it.

The inline six coupled to a manual makes this truck much more economical than a big V8. I recently installed a working odometer, but haven't filled it up yet to track mileage. I once calculated about 17 or 18 mpg on the highway just using mileage approximations.

Pretty much everything works. The gauges all work, the lights work, and I have an old radio in there that works (when speakers are attached).

In the past 3 years of owning it, I've replaced the following:

water pump ($50)
alternator ($60)
battery ($100)
belts ($20)
rear diff oil ($20)
transmission oil (part of clutch job)
starter ($60)
clutch ($600)
radiator ($100)
radiator hoses ($20)
heater core ($40)
thermostat
air filter
shocks, front and rear (KYB gas-a-just, $160)
all ignition components (wires, cap, rotor, module, $60)

The compression is good and even all the way around. I wanted to make sure it would make the +2500 mile trip last summer, so I did my due diligence to get it ready.

This is a NC car with NC plates, and I have the clean title in my name.  The car is located in the SF Bay Area.

I'm not sure how many miles are on it. Odometer was out when I bought it. I have since replaced it with a working one. Just so everyone knows, this is a long bed, 2 wheel drive, C10 with a 250ci inline six. There is a bit of rust on the lower part of the door panels and floor.  They make replacement steel sections that you can find at Summit Racing and other vendors.

Please message me with any questions.

Pushing Back: GM expanding Chevrolet into Korea, Daewoo out

Chevrolet Camaro goes to South Korea - Click above for high-res image
General Motors decided several years ago to begin heavily promoting Chevrolet as its global mainstream brand even in markets where its existing brands like Opel and Daewoo were a dominant force. Today, at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea, GM Daewoo president Mike Arcamone announced that the Camaro would lead the way in GM's efforts to market Chevrolet in South Korea.
For now at least Chevrolet and Daewoo-branded vehicles will coexist in the Korean market. However, while we were in China last week GM officials told us that the Daewoo brand, which has been somewhat tainted by past quality issues, would eventually be phased out in favor of Chevrolet. When the new Aveo launches next year it will likely be badged as a Chevrolet even though GM Daewoo is in charge of engineering the car.

GM won't sell 2014 Chevrolet SS in Canada

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

Allow us to be the first to extend our condolences to our friends to the north. General Motors has announced the 2014 Chevrolet SS will not be available in Canada. The Globe and Mail reports the automaker has confirmed the high-performance sedan won't hit Canadian dealers, though GM hasn't offered up any reasoning as to why that is.
Buyers here in the US of A, meanwhile, can look forward to getting their hands on the 415-horspower, rear-wheel drive SS by late summer. Something tells us it won't be long after that before Canadian officials start seeing individually imported 6.2-liter V8 four-doors in their neighborhoods. Fortunately, Canadian buyers will still be able to take home the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. The C7 bowed at the Canadian International Auto Show last week, reportedly drawing sizable crowds and interest.

Pure Vision Design TT Camaro has 1,400 reasons to want it

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

We've talked about Pure Vision Design before, a California-based company that made waves at last year's SEMA show with its Martini-liveried, Indy-car-powered Ford Mustang. That same car later starred in a Petrolicious video we showed you just a few weeks back. The company's latest creation is a menacing car it calls the Pure Vision Design TT Camaro. Based on a 1972 model, this car shares the Martini Mustang's clean styling and obsession with details.
Unlike the Mustang, which draws its power from a mid-60s Lotus-Ford Indycar engine, the "TT" in this Camaro's name implies something far more potent. The Nelson Racing Engines 427-cubic-inch V8 has been fitted with a pair of turbochargers, with a claimed output of 1,400 horsepower. That's almost 1,000 more than the Martini Mustang.
A six-speed Magnum transmission dispatches that power to the ground, while Pirelli PZero tires are tasked with (somehow) trying to grip the road. Baer brakes hide behind those HRE rims, while JRI coilovers and HyperTech springs bless the Camaro with some degree of competency in the bends.
