This is a truly unique truck. This 1968 C10 pickup came from the manufacturer  with molded in bumpers I have never seen another one

like it. The truck is now equipped with a LS-34 396 motor and a 700R4 4 speed overdrive transmission from the same era. The truck is

equipped with in dash Vintage air conditioning and power steering and  4 wheel power disc brakes. The motor has a serpentine belt system

and is all chromed out with an Edelbrock carburetor and Eccel ignition, and also has headers and flow thru dual exhausts.  It is painted in the

original color with some candy  color added to enhance the luster. The doors have all new mechanical hardware and rubber seals

plus power windows were added. The truck has power door locks and an alarm system. The windows were tinted and all new runners

and felt were installed. New seals around the cab and a Dakota digital dash with compass and outside temperature was added. The steering wheel

is a 15 inch version of the original Impala steering wheel. The radio was upgraded to a new pioneer radio with CD/SirusXM and blue tooth and plays

Pandora and your tunes wireless connected to a Iphone. If you have the newer Iphone you can use the voice system to make calls. There is a bracket

installed for the Iphone next to the digital dash for your use of navigation systems in your phone. The Pioneer has speakers built in the dash also an

additional amplifier  and a set of 2 way speakers under the seat that can be moved outside of the truck. The  headliner, seat, door panels  and kick panels

were done to match with suede inserts on all. This truck has spent most of its life in a garage with minimal driving. When I took the original dash out the

speedometer had about 98,000 miles on it. I cannot attest to the actual miles but I believe that 98,000 is correct because of the overall condition of the truck

and conversations with the previous owner.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....

First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
