Up for bid is a 1993 Chevy Blazer with a 5-speed manual transmission.
I purchased this back early this year, did some cosmetic detailing and enjoyed it since then. I'm interested in moving on to another project, so this is ready for a new home. Please note that my auction descriptions are as thorough as possible. I would rather you not bid on my vehicle because of something you know instead of being unhappy because of something you did not know. Overall this Blazer is in good condition, but not perfect. It has just over 300,000 miles and is largely original. It is a very rare 5-speed...only 525 manual-trans Blazers were produced in '93 and all had to be special ordered. This one is loaded with nice options including Z71 package, BYP fender flares, 3.73 rear ratio, power driver seat, AM/FM Cassette w/ EQ, block heater, pw, pdl, cruise, overhead console, etc. Suffice to say there are not many like it left. Mechanically, this Blazer seems to be solid. The engine runs good, doesn't leak anything and is quiet. There is an occasional puff of valve seal smoke, but oil use is minimal especially considering the mileage. The clutch works well and has a lot of pedal. NV3500 transmission works good, no noises or weird behavior. 4wd works as it should. AC works good, cruise control works good also. I put on two new tires over the summer as well. Outside, the Blazer is in decent shape. It's hit something in the past and it's evident the front clip has been replaced. It was painted afterward, but I think that's the extent of it, I don't think there are any sins covered up. The only rust I can find is two soft spots in the same location on each side, which is immediately in front of the rear wheels. Apparently that's pretty common on these. Otherwise everything looks super solid. We did repaint the lower third and the bumpers. Doors close good, glass is good. Inside is about the equal of the outside. The front seats have been updated to the '95-99 style and work fine. I have the original passenger seat, but discarded the driver seat since it was unusable. Carpet is good but old. All accessories work fine. In conclusion, this is a nice Blazer to restore or have fun with. Although it is very rare, it is no longer pristine enough to preclude modifying it to suit your preferences and you can get in at a pretty good price. If you are local you are welcome to inspect it in person. This is a no-reserve auction. What it starts at is what I have to get for it, so please do not message me with low-ball offers. I do not acknowledge zero bidders unless you contact me by phone before auction end. The winning bidder will remit a $250 good faith deposit within 5 business days after auction close unless you are nearby and make other arrangements with me. Pickup is within a reasonable time-frame. Vehicle is located in Huntsville, AL. You will receive the clean, clear vehicle title and a bill-of-sale upon payment. This Blazer is fully capable of being driven back to your destination. Please ask any questions you wish. Again, I do not entertain low-balls or nor will i end the auction early. Thanks, and happy bidding! |

Porsche 911 tops a list of must-have classics, but No. 2 is more of a surprise
Wed, Aug 9 2023No surprise here: In Europe, the Porsche 911 is the most sought-after classic car. Surprise here: Slip-streaming the 911 in the most sought-after chart compiled by the Car & Classic marketplace is the Ford Mustang. Using the Google search engine as a means to pick the winners, as well as the average prices achieved on the “Car and Classic” website, the venerable 911 was tagged 1.45 million times per month according to data stretching back 15 years. The number of 911Â’s sold though the C&C marketplace was 21,141, at an average price of 58,409 pounds, or $74,300. FordÂ’s pony car, still a popular choice for buyers in Europe, placed second on the list with 1.2 million monthly searches. The average sales price over 15 years was 31,107 pounds ($39,570), and the number of older Mustangs sold reached a total of 8,332. Models that also finished among the charted top 10 include the Land Rover Range Rover, the Corvette, the ultra-classic British favorite Jaguar E-Type and the BMW 3 Series. “Whilst a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS could set you back the best part of GBP500,000 ($636,000), there are many more affordable models, which bring the average sale price of a 911 on Car & Classic to GBP58,000 ($73,800) – the third highest average selling price of any make and model on the site,” explained Dale Vinten of Car & Classic. According to the site, the Jaguar fetched the highest average selling price: a whopping 89,000 pounds, or $113,000. But thatÂ’s peanuts compared to a Series 1 Roadster in excellent condition, said Vinten. For that, “you can expect to spend up to GBP250,000 ($318,000), A Series 2 or 3 will cost less, as they are not as desirable, but in decent condition you can expect to pay around GBP40,000-GBP50,000. Even a barn find 1969 E-Type Series 2 Roadster can set you back to the tune of GBP33,000 ($42,000)." Launched in 2005, Car & Classic is among EuropeÂ’s most popular classic car clearinghouses. It also runs a stand-alone auction site.
Some 2012-13 Chevy Volts may not have enough battery coolant
Mon, Jun 23 2014The 2012 and 2013 model year Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle may have a battery glitch caused by low coolant levels. No recall has been issued and General Motors is taking care of the issue at no cost to drivers. Some of the affected Volts may have lower-than-advisable coolant levels because of some pesky air pockets in the car's cooling circuit. When the coolant levels get too low, the charging system for the battery powering the car's onboard generator (i.e. the Rechargeable Energy Storage System, or the RESS) may be shut down, turning one's Volt into a run-of-the-mill gas-powered car, and a pricey one at that. The Car Connection says GM is advising owners of the '12 and '13 Volts to contact their local Chevy dealer for a free fix. GM representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from AutoblogGreen for more details. We believe this is a separate issue than the one that brought 8,000 Volts back to the dealers for a battery coolant fix, what GM called a "voluntary customer satisfaction effort," a few years ago. General Motors sold 23,094 Chevy Volts last year after selling 23,461 Volts in 2012, so that fix-it list may get fairly lengthy. Check out a GM-Volt.com user thread related to this issue here. *UPDATE: Chevrolet spokesman Randy Fox confirmed in an e-mail to AutoblogGreen that the company issued a service bulletin to dealers that they may need to top off coolant levels on certain Volts because of the issue, and that the vehicle will "return to normal charging operation" once that's done.
GM recalls 740,000 vehicles over daytime running light issue
Wed, Dec 14 2022General Motors is recalling over 740,000 vehicles due to a daytime running light issue that causes all of the affected cars to run afoul of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Vehicles affected by this recall are spread across many of GM’s brands. Models include the 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5, 2021-2023 Buick Envision, 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, 2022-2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe and 2022-2023 GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL. GM says that the daytime running lights may remain on in these cars when the headlights are activated. This is a problem, because FMVSS rules require that the daytime running lights deactivate once the headlights turn on. If the DRLs remain on, GM says that could result in additional glare, thereby increasing the risk of an accident. The cause of this failure to deactivate the DRLs comes from body control module software that “under a combination of certain pre-conditions, could fail to deactivate the DRLs,” according to GM. Other GM vehicles were tested, but due to a difference in software or hardware, they remain unaffected. If this is reminding you of another recent GM recall, youÂ’d be right, as GM recalled another 340,000 vehicles for the same issue last month. After that original issue was found within GM, the company began looking into its other cars to determine if the population was larger than originally thought. GM found the additional vehicles included in todayÂ’s recall have the problem. The fix will either be via an over-the-air update or it will require you to bring the vehicle into a dealer for a software update, depending on which vehicle you have. Owner notification letters letting folks know what is necessary are currently scheduled to go out on January 23, 2023. Related video: Cadillac Escalade Infotainment Review
