Automatic transmission.

All stock CUCV M1009.
Glow plugs have been upgraded.
Has original CARC paint.
No radio antenna bracket holes. M1009 was an MP truck for North Dakota National Guard.
Runs, shifts, starts, drives, sounds great.
All glass is good.
This CUCV WILL start a 0 degrees! It has a block heater for temps below 0.
I ALWAYS add 3 ounces of stanadyne pump oil to fuel with every fill up. I dont let it get below 1/4 of a tank.
Has a new heater core.
Everything works.
Has upgraded glow plugs, starter relay, and glow plug controller.
Rear pintle hitch upgraded to pintle with 2 inch ball.
Has an original spare tire.
Has original fire extinguisher.
Comes with another top. (Had one left over from a salvage M1009 I bought).
Mileage will go up until the first bid. I will park it and not drive it anymore once it receives the first bid.
I have extras of all the hard to find items for these:
   Glow plug card
   Both alternators
   Tailgate crank
   Plastic covers for seat pivots
   Dash panel bezel
   Dash cover
   Brand new blackout lights
   Vacuum pump
   etc.
These items will be available to buyer only at an additional cost.  They are not included in auction!

Everything in this CUCV has been checked against and any repairs made strictly according to the technical military manuals.
Has the correct milspec batteries. (Never been ran down or jump started)
I upgraded the lockouts, but you can have the originals if you want them.
Kevlar goodyears have plenty of tread.
Comes with an original 5 gallon jerry can for rear bracket(can not pictured)
NO wiring has been hacked into on this one!
I am not afraid to drive anywhere in this truck and have taken it on several trips with NO issues.
I dont push it past 65 mph.

I had all paperwork on this truck from the North Dakota National Guard but I cannot find it. I have owned it for 6 years and the paperwork may have been thrown away? Paperwork stated it had a new engine at 40 some thousand miles, but without the paperwork, I have no way of proving that. I have no question with as good as it runs.

LED lights on grill guard are NOT included and have been removed. A friend of mine works for a light manufacturer that designed these for 24 volt vehicles and I tried them out for a couple years.

You can have what I have left of the stanadyne pump oil. (3 ounces to 30 gallons fuel) and I recommend using it to add the lubricity that today's diesel fuel is lacking.

Has original jack and jack handle.

Was never forklifted at auction lot. Was never listed as a non-runner.

Has a new high-torque starter with correct GM starter bracket to block.

Has been kept clean and indoors for the winter months here in South Dakota.

No rust through anywhere.

Original battery hold down brackets are included with auction and they are on the blazer now. ( I noticed in pictures they weren't installed. I had just installed the new batteries)

Only known issues:
Fan blower motor squeals a little bit sometimes.
Neither outer door lock is operable with key. (occasionally the passenger side will lock/unlock)
Small wrinkle on right rear lower fender behind tire( I back up onto a log in my back yard)(see pictures)
There is a spot on tailgate that has been repaired by the National Guard before I got it.(see pictures)

You could fly in and drive this home to anywhere you live. It has no issues that would prevent you from driving it home. I will even pick you up at the airport in the M1009.
It can sit here for 60 days. I will be moving at that time. That is my ONLY reason for selling this truck. It has been the most reliable, go-anywhere vehicle I have had over the past 6 years. I know I will regret selling it but life happens! These are getting phased out and are getting harder and harder to find in this condition that haven't been restored.

I can take videos, pictures of anything you want to see/hear, etc. My number is 605-858-3400 if you want to call and ask questions or whatever.

I HAVE THIS FOR SALE LOCALLY. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE THE LISTING AND END AUCTION AT ANY TIME. ONCE RESERVE IS MET, I WILL SELL IT TO HIGH BIDDER!!!

GM CEO Mary Barra predicts mass electrification will take decades

Tue, Jun 9 2020

General Motors is allocating a substantial amount of money to the development of electric technology, but Mary Barra, the firm's CEO, conceded that battery-powered cars won't fully replace their gasoline-burning counterparts for several decades. She stressed the shift is ongoing, but she hinted it will be slower than many assume. "We believe the transition will happen over time," affirmed Barra on "Leadership Live with David Rubenstein," a talk show aired by Bloomberg Television. She added that not every car will be electric in 2040. "It will happen in a little bit longer period, but it will happen," she told the host. She was presumably talking about the United States market; the situation is markedly different in Europe and in China, where strict government regulations (and even stricter ones on the horizon) are accelerating the shift towards electric cars. On the surface, it doesn't look like General Motors has much invested in electrification; the only battery-powered model it sells in America in 2020 is the Chevrolet Bolt (pictured), which undeniably remains a niche vehicle. Sales totaled 16,418 units in 2019, meaning the Corvette beat it by about 1,500 sales. In comparison, Cadillac sold 35,424 examples of the aging last-generation Escalade during the same time period. And yet, the company isn't giving up. It has numerous electric models in the pipeline including a slightly larger version of the aforementioned Bolt, the much-hyped GMC Hummer pickup, and an electric crossover assigned to the Cadillac brand. These models (and others) will use the Ultium battery technology that General Motors is currently developing. Its engineers are also working on a modular platform capable of underpinning a wide variety of cars. Bringing these innovations to the market is a Herculean task. EVs may not take over for decades, but Barra and her team must believe their 2% market share will increase significantly in the coming years if they're approving these programs. Autonomous technology is even costlier, more complicated, and more time-consuming to develop. Barra nonetheless expects to see the first General Motors-built driverless vehicles on the road by 2025. "I definitely think it will happen within the next five years. Our Cruise team is continuing to develop technology so it's safer than a human driver. I think you'll see it clearly within five years," she said on the same talk show. Her statement is vague but realistic.

Auto Show Notebook: Legendary Continental name inspired Lincoln's designers

Thu, Apr 2 2015

What's in a name? A lot for the Continental concept, and it gave Lincoln designers a sense of purpose as they styled the brand's upcoming flagship sedan. "The moment that we told them, it was amazing," Lincoln president Kumar Galhotra said. "They totally got it." "It" is cutting-edge technology wrapped in stately, large-sedan design. It's a nod to Lincoln's storied past, but a signpost for where the brand is heading. Though the Continental name dates to the late 1930s, Lincoln designers avoided making the concept overtly retro. "You can't let it pull yourself back too far in history, but you've got to design a car that lives up to the name," Galhotra said. Speaking to Autoblog on the floor of the New York Auto Show where the Continental formally debuted Wednesday, the Lincoln president reiterated that the car is on track to launch in 2016. It will compete against the Audi A6, Lexus GS, BMW 5 Series and other large luxury sedans. After its debut, the concept in New York will fly to China – another critical market for Lincoln – for display there. It will be replaced in New York by a prototype without an interior. The Continental is the latest high profile play by Lincoln to raise its image with consumers, who have either ignored or forgotten about it amid steep competition in the luxury sector from German and Japanese brands and a potentially resilient Cadillac. Lincoln sales are essentially flat compared with 2014 through the first quarter of this year, with total volume of 21,478 units. The middling start to 2015 comes on the heels of nearly 16-percent sales growth last year spurred by the launch of the MKC and the prominent signing of Matthew McConaughey to star in Lincoln advertisements. Other News, Notes & Quotes Speaking of names, Chevrolet did its homework before deciding to proceed with "Malibu" for its new generation of midsize cars. "We went out and researched it," said Alan Batey, president of General Motors North America. "People actually like the name 'Malibu,'" he said. Admittedly, the current Malibu has struggled in the marketplace against entrenched competitors, Batey said, but he's optimistic its awareness and historical value are assets to the dramatically redesigned sedan."The name's strong," he said. Meanwhile, in other Chevy news, the brand kicked off a new marketing campaign, "Real People, Not Actors" Wednesday. It will show consumers interacting with Chevys and their spontaneous reactions to the vehicles.

2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets more torque, more room and inspiration from the Impala

Fri, 31 May 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, having stared at the Impala across the showroom floor for a year, gets nips and tucks all over inspired by its larger brother. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the base car will get a stop-start system and 23 city miles per gallon, 35 highway, each number representing a one-mpg improvement over the 2013 car. Output is 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the 2.0-liter turbo and, while power holds steady at 259 hp, torque goes up by 14 percent to a striking 295 lb-ft (a figure Chevy calls best in the class). The final details include newly programmed transmission shift points and faster shifts, for better engaging and enjoying the added power.
Looks-wise, the grille's been reshaped to be more in line with the new Chevrolet look, a narrower upper grille hovering over a larger lower grille.
