This 2004 Avalanche is in GREAT condition and needs nothing but a new home.  It has just under 76,000 miles.  I love the truck but doesn't fit my needs right now.  The color is tan/silverbirch.  I am a gm/ase certified tech and have done all maintenance and repairs on the truck.

  • There are no major flaws in the truck.
  • The interior is smoke-free and in great shape.
  • Includes a full set of summer and winter floor mats, no tears in the seats and the carpet in not stained.
  • The paint is in very nice shape no dents or major scratches.  Both the front and rear bumpers have small nicks in the plastic but is only noticeable if you're looking for it.
  • The tires are 285/70/17 Hankook Dyna-Pro All Terrain and have more than 75% left.  Only a year (6,000 miles) old.
  • The brakes are all at 60% left, engine and transmission oil freshly changed, and it has had a nice undercoat for a while now.
  • The 4wd works flawlessly including the AUTO 4wd which is great for wintery conditions.
  • The battery is an Interstate that is less than a year old.
  • This truck has an AWESOME professionally installed 2 way remote start system that tells you when it's running and works from a 1/4 mile or more!
  • The AUTO A/C and heater work great.  Will freeze you out in the summer and roast you out in the winter!
  • The 5.3 engine does not use any oil between oil changes or smoke.
  • The removable rear top pieces all work great and seal very well.
  • The windows have a nice tint
  • The factory cd player works great and the factory speakers have all been upgraded.
  •  Everything works as designed.

The truck is located in Ottawa, IL but I am willing to negotiate delivery or a place to meet up.   Please feel free to call or text me with any questions at 815-712-3034

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra show all their sides in Detroit

Tue, 15 Jan 2013

There could hardly be more riding on the next-generation General Motors full-size pickup trucks, so the automaker has wisely made sure to have a selection of different models on hand at the Detroit Auto Show to show off. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra were both officially introduced last month at a stand-alone reveal, and now they'll be on display for the public to see in various body configurations and trim levels.
The Silverado LTZ Crew Cab and Sierra SLE Extended Cab are aimed at providing more of a high-end pickup experience, while the Silverado LT Z71 Extended Cab and Sierra SLT Z71 Crew Cab should have off-road fans scouting out their favorite trails. The crew cab trucks won't go into production until sometime during the second quarter of this year - with other bodystyles coming later in the year - but we have plenty of live images from Detroit for you to enjoy.

Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
