Cadillac reveals futuristic EV crossover in Detroit

Cadillac just revealed a futuristic EV crossover model at an off-site event before the Detroit Auto Show. The vehicle doesn't have a name now, but Cadillac says that and additional information will be revealed closer to the car's launch. Any sort of specifications, range and things of that matter are not available right now. Although, Cadillac mentions we can expect both two- and all-wheel drive and for it to be sold globally. What we know for sure is that this vehicle is meant to preview an actual production model at least somewhat resembling this one. As we look at the two photos, this vehicle looks a bit concept-like but probably won't need a whole lot of change to make it production-ready. When that production will start, Cadillac doesn't make any mention of either. GM said on Friday that Cadillac "will be at the vanguard of the company's move toward an all-electric future." This reveal is the first vehicle related to that goal since the statement only a couple of days prior. We contacted Cadillac in an attempt to understand a bit more about where this car stands in the concept versus production car realm, and will update when we learn more. Jay Leno welcomes a 2016 Cadillac CTS-V into the garage

After checking out a multitude of classic cars and customs over the past few weeks, Jay Leno switches things up with a modern performance machine in the latest video from the garage – a 2016 Cadillac CTS-V. Leno is curious about Caddy's attempt to challenge the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S, and he takes a long, technical look at the sedan with chief engineer David Leone. Not content to just peek under the hood, Leno puts the CTS-V up on the rack to see what it packs underneath the svelte body. Once he gets the lowdown on the Caddy's engineering, it's time for a drive. Leno also flexes his interviewing skills while behind the wheel and gets even more info about the CTS-V's capabilities from Leone. He seems fairly impressed, but Leno's most entertaining question about the 640-horsepower sedan is whether it can do a burnout. He provides a definitive answer to that at the end of the clip. Cadillac recalls 120k examples of ATS for fire risk

Cadillac is recalling a total of 119,339 units (96,145 in the US alone) of the 2013-2016 ATS sedan, because the coil antenna module that powers the rear defogger can overheat. The problem has been linked to four fires, but there have been no injuries, fatalities, or crashes, according to the automaker. During manufacturing, the antenna might have been produced with "critically weak terminal connectivity." If being cycled on and off often or used continuously, these faulty examples can overheat, leading to a fire in the driver's side rear pillar. According to the company, "less than 1 percent of the recalled vehicles are expected to have the condition." According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (in a PDF), the fix is a reflash for the ATS' Electronic Climate Control module that automatically turns on the rear defogger when the engine starts. In addition, 2013 models keep the system on continuously at low temperatures at highway speeds and this is also being disabled in the update. The changes are meant to cycle the coil less often, but owners can still turn it on manually.
