GM recalling Cadillac ATS, XTS, Chevy Impala over faulty brake lamps
Thu, 06 Jun 2013General Motors has issued a recall covering 1,627 sedans over faulty brake lamps. Both the 2013 Cadillac ATS and XTS are affected by this problem, as is the 2014 Chevrolet Impala.
According to an official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, "the brake lamps may intermittently flash without the brakes being applied and the cruise control may disengage" on these vehicles. The report does not state that the brakes themselves are faulty, but rather that "if the brake lamps flash when the vehicle is not slowing, a following driver may not adjust vehicle speed when the vehicle is in fact braking."
This marks the first recall for the 2013 Cadillac ATS, as well as the recently introduced 2014 Chevy Impala. In late 2012, over 12,000 Cadillac XTS models were recalled due to a head restraint issue.
Cadillac caught testing the upcoming XT3 SUV again
Mon, Feb 20 2017Days ago, the Cadillac XT3 was caught covered in more black plastic bags than an average Home Depot can hold. Now, more photos have surfaced of the compact crossover doing cold weather testing, still wearing binliner camo. There are still details that can be detected from underneath all the make-up, as the car wears a familiar Cadillac grille and edgy LED headlights. The rear shots do show tail lights fashioned into the camouflage, but those might be there just to throw everybody off: the C-pillars have lights way up from the usual spots, and that might be the location for the actual tail lights, giving the car characteristically narrow Cadillac style lighting in the rear. To match the German competition in this segment, it is likely that the XT3 will be powered by four-cylinder turbocharged engines, and the intercooler under the front bumper can be a confirmation of this. It seems that Europe is defining the future of General Motors more so than its home North American market. Having axed Saturn, Pontiac and Hummer, GM has done a fairly good job of repositioning its remaining four divisions, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC. Cadillac carries the luxury banner. Chevrolet is aimed at the masses with cars and trucks along with a nod to performance thanks to Camaro and Corvette. Buick bridges the premium gap between Chevy and Cadillac, while GMC offers a hardcore work/upscale proposition.
