What makes it special: Convertible, Power top, One family owned, 703 original miles, Air Conditioning, Leather, Highly optioned, Last of the full sized factory built Convertibles.

The last year of the factory built Eldorado Convertibles. These are collected and driven by lovers of the biggest and most powerful rag tops ever built. This one has been owned and pampered by the same family since brand new and adult driven a little over 700 miles on special occasions and parades only. She was started and warmed on a regular basis to keep the fluids flowing. Just take a peak at the pictures to see how outstanding she is.

Equipped including
Power steering, Power brakes, Air Conditioning, Auto transmission, Leather seating area, Cruise control, Am-Fm stereo, 8 Track player, Twilight sentinel, Delay wipers, Auto door locks, Tilt & telescope wheel, Power antenna, Power top, Power trunk release & pull down, 6 way power driver & passenger, Outside thermometer, 4 wheel disc brakes.

Paint The painted metal surfaces look like that of a car that is just a few months old. The family explained that other then the new bumper fillers, it has never had any paint work since they bought it new. All very smooth and shiny original paint. The fillers have a very similar finish but just like when these cars were brand new, they don’t match perfectly in every light condition or angle. I did not see any other chips or nicks on the surface which is the result of only 700 miles.

Body The body is about as close to like new as you could probably imagine. Original and very straight and correct to the point of how they were built brand new with the exception of a slight little factory deviation in the hood that can only be seen under fluorescent lights. Being extremely critical, there also is a slight dimple in the top edge of the left quarter (see pics).

Bright Work All of the bright work appears to be in place and fastened properly. The stainless surrounding the window areas as well as the balance of the chrome and stainless looks free of any aging, wear or damage. The only exceptions being a slight light pitting on the very top of the front & rear bumpers and door handles (see pics).

Glass Overall, the glass is as close to new as imaginable and without the usual vertical light scratching that power windows often develop. All glass being very clear, no delaminating, discoloring, cracks, or wiper marks as the car has just not been used that much.

Top The Vinyl top is only a few months old. It was replaced as an edge was gnawed on by something (1” approx) extremely bright white and new material in and out. (See interior top pics).

Interior With its having very little exposure, it remains about as close to new as imaginable. When sitting in the drivers seat and admiring the dash and steering wheel, it’s like a trip back in time. Other then a little cleaning on the doors arm rests where they are touched, a slight seat spot, a glove box paint flake, and the foam maybe breaking down in the visors, it’s like taking a trip back to the Cadillac showroom in 1976 during the Bicentenial.

Trunk Thought it’s also had very little use like the rest of the car, the black flooring has been slightly damaged by what I guess to be a rodent (mouse?) ( easily replaced ) We have the original inflatable spare, canister, and jack in place.

Tires Tires, wheels, caps are all original per the family LR78-15. 10 to 11/32" remaining on all tires depths.

Engine The engine compartment inspection doesn’t not show any obvious changes except the battery has been replaced. A slight belt dust and a concern did find an alternator replacement necessary

Chassis You can see some factory markings and some metal with a bright shine yet. Others not painted very well upon assemble. Just as you would expect a 700 mile car with normal surface rust from a typical garage storage situation. May have received a typical dealer light undercoat or factory coverage.

Test Drive Chad has started the car cold, warm, let idle, and drove it several miles around the neighborhood. The engine seems to start and run well as designed. With no plates he couldn’t drive it out on the main road. Trans seems to shift up and down properly. Chad was able to drive up to around 40-45 mph in the neighborhood. Steering was nice and smooth and works as designed. Upon braking, do not notice pulsation or pulling in brakes. A light air noise was heard in the rear but I’m not sure what it is. Tires seem slightly out of round and give slight vibration in steering wheel. This may or may not straighten itself out with a few more miles and getting tires warm.

The owner explained that she had received the car new as an anniversary gift. Her son added that an in house mechanic looked over the car at least yearly and performed service. T his included oil changes and needed fluids most every year. They also made it a point to at least start and warm the engine sometime within every 3-4 months.

Chad tested the following (nothing noted as not operating)
Left and right door latches work
All 4 windows run correctly up and down
Window lock out button works
Left and right side remote windows work correctly
Twilight sentinel working
Wipers work on all 3 speeds and delay
Windshield washers operate
Engine runs smooth at elevated speeds in neutral but upon returning to idle a slight rattle, (sounds like loose baffle)
Horn works
Hood release from inside works
Climate control system, auto fan, defroster, a/c compressor engages and seems to cool ( Ice building on a/c parts) (40 degree out)
Radio am, fm, tone, speaker, power antenna, all seem to operate (low & high setting works)
Sun visors adjust (foam inside has broken down)
Cigarette lighter works
Trip odometer reset works
Interior courtesy light works
Interior trunk release and power pull down works
Vents for a/c all operate
Lights—tail, front markers, 4 headlights & dimmer, left & right turn signals, front and rear, corner lights, brake, all work properly
Convertible top power is working smoothly. (With cold weather did not fold down all the way)
Interior courtesy lights working
6 way power on both seats work
Auto locks in drive operate
Fuel gauge (Chad added 5 gallon fuel and took from almost empty to 1/4 tank)
Cruise control engages ( only had at 45 mph)
Clock is operating (not sure if holding exact time)

    Welcome to Auto Connection
Connecting buyers and sellers of unique vehicles

    Conditions of Sale
Auto Connection is NOT a car dealer; but more like a real estate agent. They are a 3rd party agent, representing both buyer AND seller. The vehicles they sell are from private owners and collectors, and they provide advertising, marketing, and consulting services for individuals, companies, or dealers.

The Auto Connection representative has physically viewed the item being sold. The information comes from the seller and other research sources. Auto Connection is not responsible for any misrepresentation by the seller and/or errors in research results, including history statements of vehicle history, repairs, etc.

This vehicle is being sold AS IS and without a warranty, unless otherwise stated.

Information about serial numbers, engine numbers, and any other codes does not guarantee a vehicle’s authenticity. These codes and numbers are not guaranteed to be the same as the information on the vehicle ID or vin, trim tag, engine block, cylinder heads, transmission, differential, or other components within this vehicle. Auto Connection does not guarantee documentation, authenticity, repairs, mechanical work, titles, odometer discrepancies, matching numbers, stamped engines, casting numbers, or any other codes, tags, or numbers. The potential for reproduction paper documentation exists, as well as restamped engines and reproduced trim/data tags.

Auto Connection has described this vehicle to the best of their knowledge, but does not guarantee the accuracy of the description. Prospective buyers are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence, including a physical inspection of the vehicle in person, or through a qualified third party inspector/appraiser. We welcome inspections and even have an 8 page professional vehicle inspection form you or your appraiser can use.

The vehicle will remain for sale until a buyer has placed a deposit on it. This deposit is nonrefundable with the exception of the vehicle being severely misrepresented by Auto Connection or the seller, or stipulated in the Bill of Sale.

It is possible that this vehicle will be sold at a higher price than the highest bid (before or after the auction ends), if the reserve is not met. After the sale (if reserve is met or not), Auto Connection must receive at least a 10% deposit (wire transfer or official bank or cashier’s check) within 3 days of the end of the auction (or the Bill of Sale is signed). The high bidder/buyer has 10 days from this time to send the balance in full or final payment and inspect the vehicle (or have a 3rd party professional inspection).

For the most part, the vehicle for sale is not “perfect”. It is unreasonable to assume that every single flaw in the paint, body, engine, etc. or any minor mechanical items (such as a light not working) be considered a reason to refuse the vehicle. Major rust/rot, undisclosed problems with the frame, etc. might constitute a legitimate reason for the buyer to refuse to follow through with the sale. In that situation, Auto Connection would negotiate with the seller and buyer to try to reach an agreeable solution.

The buyer acknowledges that he has had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle to verify it is as listed and represented. He accepts the vehicle with all advertised equipment, options and accessories in "AS IS" condition with any faults or defects. The buyer will bear all future costs of repairs or correcting any defects that exist or may occur in the future. The seller will have no responsibility or liability for any consequential damages or injury caused by any failure or malfunction of the vehicle or any components. This car is being offered for sale by owner. The buyer and seller acknowledge that if the transaction is consummated and a dispute occurs relating to the sale, the laws of Ohio (the state that the car is located/sold) govern the rights and duties under the agreement.

What will the next Presidential limo look like?

    Thu, 25 Jul 2013

With recent news that the Secret Service has begun soliciting proposals for a new armored limousine, we've been wondering what the next presidential limo might look like. The current machine, nicknamed "The Beast", has a design based on a car that's no longer sold: the Cadillac DTS. If General Motors gets the job again, which wouldn't be a surprise considering the government still owns a chunk of the company, the next limo's shape would likely resemble the new XTS (below, left). But Cadillac hasn't always been the go-to car company for presidential whips.
Lincoln has actually provided far more presidential limousines throughout history than Cadillac. In fact, the first car modified for Commander-in-Chief-carrying duty was a 1939 Lincoln K-Series called "Sunshine Special" used by Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the last Lincoln used by a president was a 1989 Town Car ordered for George H.W. Bush. If President Obama wanted a Lincoln today, it would likely be an amalgam of the MKS sedan and MKT crossover, as illustrated above.
And what about Chrysler? The only record we could find of a President favoring the Pentastar is Nixon, who reportedly ordered two limos from the company during his administration in the '70s, and then another one, known today as the "K-Car limo," in the '80s after he left office. Obama, however, has a personal - if modest - connection to Chryslers, having owned a 300 himself before he took office. A 300-based Beast (above, right) would certainly earn the U.S. some style points.

2015 Cadillac Escalade configurator lets you bling it your way

    Fri, 21 Mar 2014

It's Friday, so there must be a new configurator to play with. While last week we showed you how to build your own McLaren 650S, today's ride is a bit more common. It's the 2015 Cadillac Escalade, a vehicle that you've been able to colorize since the end of last year, and which is sure to be an increasingly common sight on US roads in the coming months.
For those that have played with the build-your-Caddy tool, there's not much new here, aside from the vehicle being configured. The Escalade is available in three trims and two wheelbases, with prices spanning from the SWB, two-wheel-drive Standard, which starts at $72,690, on to the all-wheel-drive, long-wheelbase ESV Premium, which kicks off at $86,790. The options list, meanwhile, isn't hugely extensive. A rear-seat entertainment system and power-retractable side-steps (only available on the Premium trim) are the two notable options, while customers will have their choice of six exterior paints and two to three interior schemes, depending on the trim level.

Cadillac's Johan de Nysschen clarifies a few points on the brand's future

    Mon, Mar 19 2018

Last week, Motor Trend ran coverage on a journo roundtable with Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen. During the roundtable, de Nysschen cited a few reasons for the decline in sedan sales, including gas prices, "young consumers" — read, millennials — less interested in driving dynamics than lifestyle accessories, and the state of U.S. infrastructure. Jalopnik homed in on the last two reasons, and those became the story, including here in our post on the roundtable. So de Nysschen called Jalopnik to add more context. The original reaction pieces painted de Nysschen's rationales as an excuse for sporty sedans not selling well, when the issue is Cadillac's sporty sedans not selling well. His main clarification: "I wasn't advocating the idea that the world is black and white, that if you're a young buyer a millennial or a teenager that you don't enjoy driving." On that note, it would be ridiculous to deny millennial and sedan-segment bugbears; de Nysschen has market research and the industry-wide, rabbit-like crossover breeding program to back him up. Yet even as he touted the success of the XT5, noting that it's "the third-best-selling luxury nameplate in the U.S. after the Lexus RX, and the Mercedes C-Class," he could add, "But the irony is not lost on me that the C-Class is a sedan." The circumstances laid out in the follow-up piece inject more likely color into the situation: the brand's onetime, singleminded focus on the U.S., followed by a singleminded focus on China that left the U.S. market wanting for attention. We could add to that: years of lackluster products and awful attempts at volume and brand engineering under the old GM at the same time that downsized premium luxury products, crossovers, and SUVs began their rocketship trajectories; trying to live off the Escalade success; and the carmaker's desire not to offend its older, traditional buyers while concurrently wooing "coastal influencers." De Nysschen also acknowledged that Cadillac interiors aren't where they need to be, saying, "We recognize that's where we want to improve." The result, as de Nysschen put it, "We're playing with the hand that we've been dealt.
