1966 Cadillac Eldorado on 2040-cars
Quanah, Texas, United States
More details at: marlanarangel@juno.com . In the Mad Men era, this was the ultimate expression of power and prestige by a young executive. It still is. This
is the crown jewel in my collection. She is a people and photo magnet and gets better valet treatment than my
Maserati GTS. This is THE 1966 Cadillac Eldorado Fleetwood. Numbers matching 429 V8, rare triple white Michigan car
showing 38,416 miles. Her mileage comports with her near perfect originality. She has been pampered and in some
cases selectively upgraded (front disc brakes), but the other care she has received is with OEM parts window and
roof motors). She has every available option (except seat warmers-yes, they offered that) including A/C and power
everything; laser straight body. Among her original equipment, she sports original perforated leather seats, teak
panels and trunk jute, etc. (OK, I did add an amazing stereo). She is a driver that looks like a trailer queen. If
you want to turn heads, this car is for you.

Confident new Cadillac marketing boss ready to take on Tesla, BMW
Thu, Jun 26 2014When there's a former BMW executive heading Cadillac's efforts to boost sales of its only plug-in, it's a pretty safe guess that the marketing emphasis won't be on environmental friendliness and tree-hugging tendencies. The General Motors luxury brand has appointed ex-Bimmer executive Uwe Ellinghaus to be its marketing chief late last year, and the German-born Ellinghaus is now saying that he's targeting potential customers of Tesla Motors, in addition to BMW, for potential growth in sales of the Cadillac ELR extended-range plug-in. Appointed to Cadillac's head of marketing last November, Ellinghaus recently told Advertising Age that GM needs to highlight the Cadillac's looks and performance. He complimented Tesla for putting more emphasis on those attributes in the Model S than on its lack of emissions or lack of refueling costs (but Tesla hasn't shied away from highlighting the EV's savings). Ellinghaus says that trying to gear advertising "for people who are tree-huggers and green-wash an entire brand" won't be successful. You don't say. So far, the ELR hasn't made much of a dent in US car sales. Through May, Cadillac, which spent about $280 million on all of its US marketing last year, sold 293 units, whereas Tesla had been approaching the 11,000-unit figure for the Model S. With that in mind, Cadillac may be working on a sportier version of the ELR, as spy shots of a test vehicle from May revealed larger brakes and wheels. You can read our First Drive impressions of the ELR here.
GM follows Ford and Honda in skipping SEMA
Fri, May 20 2022The list of automakers skipping SEMA has become longer. First reported by Muscle Cars and Trucks, and confirmed to us by a company representative, General Motors will not have an official presence at the aftermarket show. It joins Ford and Honda in leaving the show. It will be a large hole in the show, with the GM brands typically filling a significant swath of available show space in one of the main halls. GM hasn't provided much explanation for the move, either. The GM representative provided Autoblog with the same statement that Muscle Cars and Trucks got: "GM has made the decision not to participate in the 2022 SEMA Show. The SEMA show has always inspired us, and accessories and performance parts remain an important part of our business." We also asked if we would see any sort of announcements around the time of the show — Ford said it has plans to share some things around that time — however, the GM representative said that the company has no immediate plans for announcements. Certainly things could change between now and the November show, though. SEMA had previously noted that other exhibitors would help fill in some of the space vacated by these major OEMs. Another OEM, Volkswagen, is returning to the show after an absence, which will also help with the display deficit.
