2003 Cadillac Deville Dts Fully Loaded No Reserve Auction on 2040-cars
Wilmington, North Carolina, United States
|
This 2003 Cadillac Deville DTS belonged to my mom. It is currently not in running condition. Our local Cadillac dealer says a valve and valve spring failed and dropped into cylinder #1. There is no compression in this cylinder when the car is started. The engine was torn down to look for other damage, (head gasket or other issues that some Northstar engines develop) and found this to be the only mechanical issue. The dealer is Rippy Cadillac in Wilmington, NC, and they have offered to rebuild the engine for $3500. I have found replacement engines on the web for between $1100 and $1800 delivered depending on their original mileage. It is equipped with every option available for the year including satellite navigation and Bose premium stereo. The tires are at about half their useful life. The car has never been in an accident. It needs a thorough cleaning and a new home. Please feel free to call me on 910 612 7417 with questions. I may be able to help with discounted delivery if you are interested. No waranties expressed or implied, car is sold as is and where is in Wilmington, NC. Buyer is responsible for shipping. A downpayment of $500 by Paypal is required within 48 hours of auction close. The car is for sale locally so the auction may end early. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. No reserve auction. |

Seinfeld and Don Rickles stretch out in classic Caddy for latest CiCGC
Thu, 04 Jul 2013It's no surprise that for the newest episode of Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, airing for the first time on the 4th of July, that a couple of American classics are involved. You'll Never Play the Copa unites Seinfeld with legendary curmudgeon Don Rickles, driving around in a stunner of a 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Seville in Gleneagles Green (upholstery wrapped in Grandma-spec plastic, of course).
Mr. Rickles really steals the show in this one - maybe our favorite CiCGC to date - though the Eldorado plays a strong-jawed costarring role, for sure. Stories about Ronald Regan, Frank Sinatra, Billy Graham and, of course, Herkie Styles are more than worth the price of admission. Check it out below.
Cadillac, Buick and Chevy decisions impacted by worries abroad
Fri, 05 Jul 2013European Concerns Drive GM, But Beware Of The French Connection
GM's bid to rationalize Europe will impact the products that will be offered domestically.
It seems that Europe is defining the future of General Motors more so than its home North American market. Having axed Saturn, Pontiac and Hummer, GM has done a fairly good job of repositioning its remaining four divisions, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC. Cadillac carries the luxury banner. Chevrolet is aimed at the masses with cars and trucks along with a nod to performance thanks to Camaro and Corvette. Buick bridges the premium gap between Chevy and Cadillac, while GMC offers a hardcore work/upscale proposition.
GM intends to offer semi-autonomous vehicles by 2020
Fri, 30 Aug 2013Prepare for a few years of technological saber-rattling, as the world's automakers begin pushing to bring self-driving cars to market. Earlier this week, Nissan announced that it aims to offer autonomous vehicles by 2020, while Google, BMW and several other marks are working on similar efforts.
General Motors is doing things differently, though. Rather than push for a fully autonomous car, it's continuing to refine its semi-autonomous Super Cruise, a product that we tested in April 2012 and that will eventually see use on some Cadillacs before trickling down to the rest of the General Motors family. Super Cruise, which is undergoing testing in the Cadillac SRX, doesn't take complete control out of the driver's hands. Rather, under a very specific set of circumstances on the freeway, it will marry the capabilities of things like lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control to allow the driver to take their hands off the wheel. All of which sounds a lot like the system Mercedes-Benz is launching on the 2014 S-Class.
The system is still in development, according to John Capp, GM's director of electrical controls and active safety technology. Now that that the biggest hurdle, steering control, has been cleared, GM's engineers can focus on things like teaching the system to adapt to differing road conditions and visibility levels. As we reported in 2012, Super Cruise is still befuddled in low-visibility situations or when road markings aren't particularly clear.
