Beautiful 1977 Buick Electra Limited Landau Coupe New Paint, Complete New Interior, Nearly $10,000 Spent On Restoration Receipts On Hand One Family Owned, Senior Ladies "BABY", Until She Was 100 Years Old Runs And Drives Fantastic, New Tires, 5 Factory Alloy Wheels I Personally Drove This Car 85 Miles From The Families Property In Las Vegas To My House I Mesquite And It Drove Beautifull Up To 80 MPH On The Freeway And Never Missed A Beat Everything Works As It Should, The Only Thing I Didn't Test Was The Cruise Control I Am Selling This Car For Family Friends, You Can Call Me At 818-425-2378 With Any Questions Let me tell you the story of "BERTIE". Her son was originaly given this car in 1977 as his compny car when he was a casino manager in Las Vegas. 3 years later he gave it to his mother BERTIE for her 70th birthday. BERTIE loved and drove this car for around 25 years until she quit driving in her mid 90's. The car was always very well cared for as BERTIE children wanted to make sure she had a safe and reliable car. She refued to trade it for a newer car because she loved this big old Buick so much. When she quit driving the car went into the family trust and was used very little for the next few years, but still very well maintained. Then in 2010 BERTIE"S children decided to restore it so BERTIE could take it for a short drive on her 100th birthday, 30 years after she was originally given the car from her son. The restoration included a complete color change as the car was originally green on green, and BERTIE had always wished it was yellow. So it got a new beige vinyl top. Then it went to the body shop for a complete color change to the beautiful yellow it is today. All chrome removed is in the trunk, nothings been thrown away. Then on to the upholstery shop. Unfortunately even tho they did great work on the big things, like the seats, carpet, headliner and dash, it became obvious that weren't experts when it came to putting everything back together. Although it looks great overall, there are minor items that still need to be finished or corrected. The center steering wheel piece never got put on. The door panels are put on incorrectly and could be better. They replaced the dash with a beige one from a Park Avenue, which is identical except that there is no place for the large clock that should be on the passenger side. When the dash was reinstalled they did not hook up the speakers for the radio or the duct work for the A/C. The A/C does work, it just doesn't come out where it should. The good news that all of the parts that were removed are in the trunk, including many extra parts that they obtained in doing the interior color change. The Story does have a happy ending, BERTIE did get it back for her 100th birthday and did take it for a short drive that thrilled her to no end. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS WELCOME. I will do all I can to assist in shipping, including holding the car for up to 30 days for any buyer. But the car still has to be paid in full within 7 days. $500 deposit due throuh Pay Pay within 48 hours. Balance due within 7 days of auction end date. NO EXCEPTIONS! On Oct-08-13 at 17:07:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I also have a stack of receipts for this car going back to the seventies. The original owners manual, repair manuals, and pix of it before the restoration was begun. Car was never hit and never had any rust. Originally bought right here in Vegas, was in Texas for a short time, then back here to Vegas. The seat belts were never reinstalled after the carpet was put in, but they are in the trunk. I have 2 sets of keys, I think they are original. The odometer quit on me last week when I was bringing it to my house in Mesquite from Las Vegas, but the speedo still works fine. This car would make a great low rider. |

Buick officially launches the redesigned 2021 Envision
Thu, Jan 21 2021The 2021 Buick Envision is officially official. Yes, that Envision — the one we showed you back in May 2020 — is now for sale, and we now have all of the finer details about the redesigned crossover, which is lower, wider and more technologically robust than its predecessor. One could argue that we already knew the most important thing about Buick's updated CUV: It looks good. The same couldn't necessarily be said of its previous incarnation, which, like several of GM's outgoing small crossovers, could be charitably described as inoffensive, but often merely looked frumpy and incoherent. 2021 Buick Envision Avenir View 25 Photos Rather than the flow-for-flow's-sake design of the outgoing model, the 2021 boasts a more chiseled, angular look, especially in Avenir guise. It also boasts a redesigned cabin and a new suite of standard tech features, including standard forward collision warning, front pedestrian braking and rear park assist. Optional goodies include a HUD, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a hands-free power liftgate. Avenir models bake in several of the standard Envision's optional upgrades, including heated and ventilated front seats, a massaging driver's seat and heated outboard rear seats. It also offers an optional adaptive suspension. “The all-new 2021 Envision is a tremendous opportunity for the brand,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice president for Buick and GMC. “With strong, differentiated designs, and a combination of advanced technologies and premium appointments, it will stand apart in one of the industryÂ’s most competitive segments.” Buick has also nailed down the specs on the Envision's updated powertrain. The 2.0-liter turbo engine will make 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, with GM's twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system available as an upgrade. Both models get a nine-speed automatic gearbox. As confirmed previously with the release of Buick's 2021 order guide, the Envision starts at $32,995 (including destination) and is available at dealers now. We expect to get our hands on one for a more thorough evaluation some time in the coming months. Stay tuned.Â
Junkyard Gem: 1957 Buick Special Riviera Sedan
Sat, Oct 23 2021While I find plenty of 1950s Detroit cars in quick-inventory-turnover self-service wrecking yards during my travels, they tend to be the ordinary post sedans that were built by the millions during the heyday of the three-on-the-tree manual transmission and nuclear-attack symbols on car radios. The more sought-after convertibles, coupes, and four-door hardtops are tougher to find in such yards, which makes today's 1957 Buick Special Riviera in a yard in northeastern Colorado an A-List Junkyard Gem. During the late 1950s, the Special ranked at the bottom of the Buick prestige hierarchy just below the more upscale Super and Century. Of course, this was the era of Alfred Sloan's "Ladder of Success" and the lowliest Special outranked even the nicest Olds Ninety-Eight on the Swank-O-Meter. If you were the Buick-driving Joneses and your neighbors had proletarian Chevrolets, aspirational Pontiacs, or petit-bourgeois Oldsmobiles, they were failing to keep up with you… but then you'd see a new Cadillac and feel intense envy for your victorious rival. The Ladder of Success collapsed later on, when the top-trim-level Chevy Caprices began to compete against their Cadillac Calais big brother, but it was still standing tall in 1957. The Riviera name ended up being used for its own distinct model starting in 1963 and continuing nearly into our current century, but in 1957 it was a trim level designation, used to indicate a Century or Special sedan with the then-radical pillarless hardtop design. This car listed at $2,780, which comes to a cool $27,630 in 2021 dollars. That price included the 364-cubic-inch (6.0-liter) Buick Nailhead V8 engine, rated at 250 horsepower and enough torque to peel 1957's rock-hard bias-ply tires right off their rims. The Special had a three-on-the-tree column-shift manual as standard equipment, but the original buyer of this car sprang for the extra $220 ($2,185 today) to get the Dynaflow transmission. While the shift indicator looks just like the ones on GM cars equipped with the two-speed Powerglide, the Dynaflow was an odd beast used only in Buicks; while it had gears for two forward speeds, the driver had to select low gear manually. Otherwise, a complex torque converter rig provided an experience something like today's CVTs (though with better smoothness and much more wasted power), in which the car stayed in high gear all the time and used the torque converter to multiply as needed.
Junkyard Gem: 1983 Buick LeSabre Estate Station Wagon, Rocky Mountain High Edition
Thu, Mar 23 2017If you live in Colorado and want an affordable chariot to haul you and your snowboarding droogs to the slopes, you could get one of the obvious cheapskate choices, e.g., a Tercel 4WD, a Corolla All-Trac, or an 80s 4WD Subaru wagon. However, if you want to channel the spiritual forefathers of early-1980s punk rock (and you do), you'll need a big, battered, Detroit bomb. This '83 LeSabre, spotted in a Denver self-service wrecking yard, is such a car. As you can see in 1984's Suburbia, you're pretty much halfway to being a member of The Vandals when you drive a couple of tons of once-luxurious Detroit Iron. 1983 was the final year of the Malaise Era, and so you didn't get much power from the V8s back then. The standard engine for the LeSabre that year was an Olds 307 generating a mere 140 horsepower. The only way to get a burnout out of this setup was to pour a case of Lucky Lager over the right rear tire, then neutral-drop the transmission while floating the valves. Chrysler and Nissan dominated the Whorehouse Red car interiors during the 1980s, but GM made a respectable showing with this scratchy, velour-influenced stuff. When you know you're a car's last owner, nothing holds you back from decorating it to suit your tastes. Ron Paul, the Snowboarders + Skiers For Christ, and many other icons of Buick-driving snow enthusiasts are represented upon the ample flanks of this wagon. How many miles are on it? With a five-digit odometer, there's no telling. The Colorado sun is rough on interiors, but this car may have spent its first couple of decades parking in a garage, or maybe it came from cloudy Oregon. Advertising for this generation of LeSabre emphasized fuel economy, which may have been a less-than-convincing approach. Related Video:
