1988 BENTLEY MULSANNE S VIN: SCBZS022JCX22587 THERE ARE 80 IMAGES OF THIS CAR SHOWN BELOW! DESCRIPTION: . The Bentley Mulsanne is a performance, full size, luxury car that was produced by Bentley Motors from 1980 until 1992. The name "Mulsanne" is derived from Bentley's famous history, which included five victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1924 and 1930 - the "Mulsanne Straight" being the stretch of the Le Mans racecourse where the cars reach their highest speeds. This NO RESERVE auction is for a spectacular looking 1988 BENTLEY MULSANNE S. This low mileage vehicle (67,827) is truly a treasure and it has been pampered for its entire life. We feel that the color combination is one of the richest looking ever produced. The current owner of the vehicle uses it only on rare occasion, as it is part of a collection. It has been continuously housed in a climate controlled garage, properly maintained and was never involved in an accident or other altercation. The owner is a non-smoker and the entire interior and exterior of the car is immaculate. This beautiful classic is fully loaded and has most of the options that were available in that year and model. When the Turbo R was replaced by the S, many of the R features were retained including a more sport-like suspension, alloy wheels and the much richer interior. 1988 was the last year for the rectangular headlight configuration which really sets off the look. This motorcar not only looks fantastic but it produces plenty of usable horsepower from the 6.75-Litre Rolls Royce power plant and it has perfectly positive shifting through the the 3-speed automatic transmission. All of the original books, keys and other incidentals are still intact, present and in like new condition. This handsome looking Mulsanne S has always been adult owned, driven and cared for. Completely refinished on the exterior in the exact original color, the car simply looks fresh and amazing! With the exception of a couple of minor tiny flea bites in the finish and very slight wear on the driver's seat bolster, we were unable to find any condition issues. The dash top was just replaced at great expense and really adds to the look. You may wish to change out the plastic vents on the dash top since the hold-down clips are fractured and they don't recede to the correct depth as a result. It is a pleasure for us to present a driving machine that was so well cared for. In all regards this BENTLEY MULSANNE S didn't disappoint us. It is an exceptionally nice automobile. On the road it was brilliant and the aroma of the plush Connolly leather interior is captivating. The four wheel power disc brakes (fronts are new) and the brand new power steering rack assembly helped improve the stopping and handling. This Bentley spells comfort with a capital "C". New Bentley Continental GT3 race car looks beautiful and brutal
Thu, Nov 9 2017Bentley has been building and racing GT3-class versions of the Continental GT since about 2013. As such, it's really no surprise that Bentley would create one based on the newest Continental GT, as seen above. Still, we're glad to see it, especially because it looks really mean, and better than the outgoing racer. Part of the design improvements are due simply to the new road car's looks. The lower, wider grille, and tidier, less bulbous tail do a lot to make the race car look much lower and more aggressive than the old car. But the racing-specific bodywork is cleaner and more aggressive, too. Large overfenders are fitted both front and rear, and they each have integrated intake vents at the leading and trailing edges. The openings at the front of the front fenders are curved such that they look a bit like angry eyebrows. The rear diffuser looks better integrated with the body now, rather than simply lurking behind a cut-down rear bumper. The big wing with outboard supports is also impressive. Performance-wise, there likely won't be a major difference between this and the outgoing car. It seems power is down a bit to over 550 horsepower rather than over 600 horsepower. Curb weight is estimated to be under 1,300 kg, which is about 2,866 pounds. That's also similar to the old car. Power also continues to come from a twin-turbocharged V8 sending power to the rear wheels. This is a sharp contrast to the road car's twin-turbocharged W12 sending power to all four wheels. For any enterprising racers looking to trade to a new car or get into a GT3, Bentley will begin selling the new Continental GT3 next June. Pricing has not been announced. 2021 Bentley Flying Spur Speed spied undisguised, may be PHEV
Fri, Sep 6 2019The 2020 Bentley Flying Spur luxury sedan was just revealed a few months ago, but its high-performance Speed variant should be launching very soon. One of our spy photographers caught what appears to be a Flying Spur Speed completely undisguised. It follows the pattern of past Speed models in terms of style, but it may be powered by a hybrid powertrain, which would be a first for the Speed line. When it comes to the design, the Flying Spur Speed is quite subtle. The body is pretty much untouched except for the black mesh grilles. All the chrome trim has been changed over to gloss black as well, just as previous Speed models have done. At the back, the car now features quad exhaust tips that exit through the oval outlets in the bumper. The exterior also leads us to believe this is a hybrid. Looking closely at the back, you can see the factory fuel filler door nestled in the top of the right rear fender. Looking over to the left rear fender, you can just make out yet another small filler door ahead of the taillight. This door doesn't appear on the regular Flying Spur, so we believe it's an electric charger port door. The question is, what hybrid powertrain could it be using? It's likely not using the V6 hybrid from the Bentayga, since we've established that this is a Flying Spur Speed, but Bentley doesn't have any other plug-in hybrid powertrains at the moment. It's possible it could use a version of the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid V8 powertrain, which makes 677 horsepower and 626 pound-feet of torque. That would be more power than the regular Flying Spur's W12, if a bit less torque. And of course Bentley could probably tweak it for a bit more power. Then again, maybe Bentley will adapt some hybrid tech to its W12. Whatever the case may be, this should be a very interesting car. And since this is just a high-performance variant that's clearly pretty far in development, we should see it officially revealed soon. It would make sense for it to be launched for the 2021 model year and shown within a year.
Bentley unveils Rhys Millen's Pikes Peak Continental GT for record attempt
Fri, Jun 7 2019At the end of it all, Rhys Millen might end up owning every Pikes Peak car record that exists. He's time-trialed the perilous mountain road in several wildly different types of vehicles, such as a Hyundai Genesis coupe racecar, the Hyundai RMR PM580-T, the Drive eO PP01 electric racecar, and a Bentley Bentayga. For 2019, Millen's at it again, and he's sticking with his new team at Bentley. On June 30, Millen will gun for the production car record time in a Continental GT. That Millen will drive a Continental GT is not exactly breaking news, as it was first announced in March. However, this is the first time Bentley has shown off the Continental GT's attention-catching Pikes Peak outfit. A matte bright green covers most of the car, with a geometric mountain range crawling up the midsection through the rear. In addition to sponsor stickers from Mobil 1 and Gran Turismo, the GT also wears No. 100 as a nod to the company's 100th anniversary. Millen will try to push the Continental GT from 9,300 feet above sea level to 14,100 feet faster than 10:26.9, the hill climb record for a production car. He'll be working against the GT's 5,985-pound gross vehicle weight, but that shouldn't be a problem with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 under the hood. The Continental GT, which will race stock aside from safety equipment, is rated at 626 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 664 lb-ft of torque at 1,350 rpm. It comes from the dealership claiming a 0-to-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds and a 207-mph top speed. An active all-wheel-drive system and Bentley Dynamic Ride should help Millen keep the car under control during turn after turn after turn up the mountain. If Millen succeeds, it would be a huge victory for Bentley, which would then own the production SUV and car records. Rolls-Royce can't do that.
