Regretfully it is time to sell my 2007 M5, my pride and joy and "one day dream car". The car is a DREAM to drive.
Overall the car is in good if not great shape. The car runs great and came from Texas. I've had it for about a year
now but we will soon be expanding the family and it won't fit everyone anymore.
In the last year the brakes have been redone (by my dealer, I didn't do it). I also replaced 1 of the 2 throttle
actuators. This is a known design flaw on these S85 V10s. I replaced the one with an OEM part and worked with a BMW
expert supplier to put upgraded gears in the other actuator in hopes of preventing the other from failing. They
have been installed for about 6 months or 6000 miles without any issues. I recently put a new thermostat in as
well. With exception to the OEM part known for failure, all parts replaced are OEM parts, nothing aftermarket.
Tires in the rear are new, fronts just don't seem to wear as fast. This car has been adult driven and isn't abused
in any way.
The biggest thing that sets this car apart (and why I bought it in the first place) is that it is NOT an SMG
transmission. This car is a true 6 speed manual making it an absolute joy to drive. The SMGs all have pump failures
that run $3000 every time it fails.

Car companies may need to start curbing model proliferation
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Looking at the current automotive landscape, especially from German makers, you quickly get the impression that less definitely isn't more. BMW alone offers its 3 Series platform in practically every segment possible, including the regular sedan and 4 Series Gran Coupe, which would seem to be direct competitors. Porsche might be the winner, though, with 20 different variants of the 911 listed for sale on its US website. However, some of this model madness might be reaching an end as companies begin cutting back spending or shifting money to other priorities.
According to Yahoo Finance, the offerings from the German automakers are up 25 percent over the past three years to over 200 models in Europe. The peak is expected to come around 2018 at 230 separate vehicles, according to consulting company PwC.
Amazingly, BMW, which is among the poster children for this model explosion, might be changing its tune. "I'm sure there will be points in the future where we look at certain cars and say, 'Maybe we need to think differently now,'" said head of sales Ian Robertson in an interview, according to Yahoo Finance. The statement certainly sounds shocking coming from a company rumored to have 23 front-wheel-drive vehicles all using a single platform on the way.
BMW 328d confirmed for New York debut
Thu, 14 Mar 2013Late last year, some of BMW's future diesel plans for the US market were leaked, and we learned that a diesel-powered version of the 3 Series sedan (pictured above in 335i guise) would be coming in the first quarter of 2013. That report appears to be holding true, as BMW has just confirmed the debut of the oil-burning 328d sedan as part of the company's New York Auto Show plans.
The 328d will be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine good for 180 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The rear-wheel-drive sedan will hit 60 miles per hour in 7.2 seconds and fuel economy numbers could "well exceed" 40 miles per gallon. (Official EPA numbers will be released closer to the car's launch.)
Elsewhere on BMW's New York stand, the company will show off the 3 Series Gran Turismo that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, as well as the Concept Active Tourer that we first saw in Paris last fall. Scroll down for the official press blast.
BMW will make plug-in hybrid versions of all models
Thu, Apr 2 2015Late last year, BMW made it clear that it would be making plug-in hybrid versions of all of its "core models." The first of those will be the X5 xDrive40e. At the New York Auto Show this week, BMW North America CEO Ludwig Willisch told AutoblogGreen that this enhanced PHEV plan is going to be applied to "every new model." We were asking Willisch if he views Tesla as a competitor to the Bavarian automaker. "I wouldn't say I don't see any competition," Willisch said, "but I still see that a BMW 5 Series and a Tesla are totally different animals." What about the rumored i5 or an i7, we started to ask – "which we don't have" Willisch interrupted – that could happen, couldn't it? "Not any time soon," Willisch said. "What we will have are plug-in hybrids. With the introduction of every new model there will be a plug-in hybrid version of that, too." There are people who are asking if the i brand will expand to a truck or a larger sedan, "but this is all the future," Willisch said. "It's not now and it's not the next couple years." Related Video:
