You are bidding on a super clean and completely rust free daily/autox 95 BMW M3. The car is  ready to compete in autox & track days. Over $3,000 in suspension alone done recently! Do not let the mileage fool you, this car has been very well taken care of! I have literally a book a receipts for past and recent work done. Pulls really strong, good compression on all cylinders and sounds really nice. Paint shines up really well, zero rust anywhere to be found on the car but the car was keyed in 3 small spots and the previous owned tried to touch it up (pics shown). Other than than, I see no other major defects. Even though it has a roll bar I have kept a lot of the comfort features intact so it could be daily driven. The working onboard computer is still installed, cruise works, power windows, Alpine stereo (speakers sound cruddy) has heat and a/c. I haven't ran the a/c for over 2 years so it may be due for a recharge but will check as soon as the weather breaks. Interior is pretty good but the door cards are starting to show some age and peel at the bottoms but there is a new headliner installed.  I believe the clutch may need bled as I noticed some chirp in 3rd gear on my last outing. Seemed to have went away once it warmed up a bit.  My loss, your gain! I purchased this car over 2 years ago with the intent over autox and track days only but a busy work schedule has prevented me from enjoying the car. It has literally sat in my garage for almost 2 years with the exception of 4 autox events I attended in 2012. I have listed below all the upgrades/work performed within the last 900 miles as well as anything major repaired in the last 40k miles. In addition to the items below the car includes a fitted car cover and some other small odds and ends. Please feel free to contact me to see the car in person or if you have any questions. As is, no warranty expressed or implied. As always, good luck and happy bidding! **** Please feel free to email me with offers or requesting additional pictures as I have tones of them******

BMW crushing ActiveE EVs, saving all batteries

Sat, May 24 2014

It's unlikely to spark a movement and a movie, the way a certain EV1 did a decade ago, but anyone who's seen Who Killed The Electric Car? will likely cringe at this bit of news. Despite the fact that crushing and recycling old vehicles is standard operating procedure in the auto industry, when EVs are involved, it's always a touchy subject. The next phase will see "all of the lithium-ion batteries being repurposed for Battery Second Life research projects." So, what's the news? Well, the image you see above, which comes from the spotting of 16 smashed BMW ActiveE EVs on flatbed trailers on California Route 91 near Los Angeles, CA. EV advocate Chelsea Sexton told Green Car Reports, "It's all very deja vu, right down to [BMW's] DriveNow promotion as a don't-look-behind-the-curtain distraction – recall GM touting EV1s being donated to museums and universities? – and VINs spray painted on the sides, allowing former drivers to identify their own cars." BMW's take on this is that the ActiveEs were always meant to have a limited lifespan, and their time has come. As spokesman Dave Buchko tells AutoblogGreen, "The learning begun with the ActiveE will transition to the next phase with all of the lithium-ion batteries being repurposed for Battery Second Life research projects." (You can read his full statement below.) Originally, there were 700 ActiveEs leased to Electronauts (give or take). Yahoo! Autos points out that the ActiveEs were originally imported into the US as "pre-production" cars, which means they can't be sold, they can only be used for carsharing projects or re-leased. Eighty of those ActiveEs recently found a second life as vehicles in BMW's DriveNow carsharing fleet in San Francisco (bringing the total of ActiveEs in the program to 150) and "some have also been returned to Munich for additional research markets," Buchko said. The big picture here is that no one should be sad to see these cars go. Yes, they may have had some life left in them, but the rules say their time is done and everything is being done to crush responsibly in accordance with the law. Like Plug In Cars says, we're in a completely different era now than we were when GM crushed all those EV1s a decade ago. Instead of marking the end of a plug-in vehicle program, sending the ActiveEs away to be recycled is a symbol of the evolution and growth of BMW's i Project.

BMW M2 claims 7:58 'Ring time in video

Thu, Oct 15 2015

BMW really, really wants us to believe the new M2 is a return to form for the high-performance sub-brand. In its initial release on the car, it drew a strong, explicit link to not only the 1 Series M Coupe – easily its most direct ancestor – but also to the original E30 M3, which is basically the M2's granddaddy. Further underscoring this link, BMW has paired the M2 with the 1M Coupe and ur-M3 for a new video where it reveals that the newest M car will lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in just 7:58. While that isn't as fast as the M4 – we're betting that vehicle's fan base just let out a huge sigh of relief – it's quicker than the E92 M3, which is certainly something worth boasting about. Check out the video up top to see the new M2 dice with its predecessors, and then head back and check out our original post on the newest M car.

Five reasons to love, or hate, the culture of German cars

Thu, Mar 5 2015

A few months back, we took a 500-foot view of the culture of American cars, dissecting prides and prejudices on our way to the conclusion that automotive allegiances can be simultaneously embraced and derided. We had so much fun with the narrative that we decided to do it again, this time taking a look at Germany and its world-renowned lineup of automakers, including the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen, among others. Join us below as we discuss the points and counterpoints that make or have made the German auto industry what it is today. And remember, Germany did pretty much invent the automobile, after all... The V12 Engine If America is known for the proliferation of the V8 engine, an argument could be made that Germany owns the V12. Yes, of course, other companies have created V12 engines – Ferrari, Jaguar and Lamborghini immediately come to mind – but the big 12-cylinder powerplants from BMW and Mercedes-Benz, in particular, have proven to be some of the most effortless, luxurious and downright over-built engines the world has ever seen. These days, having 12 cylinders is more a case of wretched excess than ever before, and yet, you can still stroll into your local BMW or Mercedes dealership and get a brand-new 760i, S600 or even an over-the-top G65 AMG, efficiency be damned. Best of all, since the majority of these German powerhouses depreciate as fast as an anchor sinks, nearly any auto enthusiast who dreams of a dozen cylinders can satisfy their carnal desires. Current Star: 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 View 28 Photos Diesel Engines Remember how we talked about those glorious V12 engines? Well, you can even get one from Audi that runs on diesel. If your compression-ignition fantasies err more on the side of fuel savings, that's no problem, either. Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen have got you covered, with engines starting as small as 800 cubic centimeters (Smart Fortwo). If you want something a little more practical, it's hard to argue with a VW Golf TDI, which will provide plenty of space for you and three of your best friends, plus a fair bit of luggage, all while returning 50-ish miles per gallon. For the purposes of this discussion, we'd rather focus on the asinine levels of torque provided by Germany's high-end diesel engines than the lower-end fuel sippers.
