Garage kept, dealer maintained, low mile, adult owned e46 M3 Convertible now available for sale. 41,560 miles at the time of posting, this M3 is in Carbon Black (dark blue) exterior paint with Black Nappa Leather interior and Black soft top all in excellent condition. Preferred 6-speed manual transmission (SMG repairs/replacement is $$$$). 19" staggered wheels designed for this car with Nitto 555 tires with less than 1,000 miles on them. AC Schnitzer rear lip spoiler is subtle but a little more aggressive than stock spoiler. Power seats, power windows, power top, cold a/c...everything works.
This has been my fair weather vehicle, with the convertible top nicely tucked away 90%+ of the time I've owned it. While it has few miles it's important to note I've also not let it sit more than 2 weeks to ensure seals/gaskets don't dry out. Excellent mechanical condition, been very economical to own, and simply amazing to drive. If you've read this far you know how great an e46 M3 is, and only a convertible lets you hear how great this stock engine/muffler combination sounds.
It's a great '02 and near perfect, but there are some areas to highlight. There is a very small ding in the left front fender...you won't notice it unless you look hard. Front has had minimal touch up due to typical road/rock chips. Slight curb rash on right rear, though new tires have a rim protection area that hide it well. All in all, it's a very clean car.

BMW 2 Series caught uncovered during shoot
Thu, 16 May 2013Before we know it, the BMW 1 Series will be no more in the United States. Well, sort of. The current six-year-old coupe and convertible will be replaced by the fancy new 2 Series you see here, spotted completely uncovered during a photo shoot, with the 1 Series nomenclature being reserved for the hatchback and GT models that might not ever make it Stateside.
The roofline of the new 2 Series doesn't appear to have to changed all that much from the current 1 Series coupe, but the front and rear fascias have indeed been smoothed out. (Truth time: As much as your author adores the 1 Series, he's always found its rear end to be, well, weird.) It looks good, seen here in M235i guise, with large wheels, slimmer headlamps and large air intakes on either side of the front fascia.
The 2 Series is expected to come to the States, likely in M235i and 228i variants, though rumors suggest that we won't get a non-M 235i model. The M235i is expected to be powered by the N55 turbocharged inline-six that we currently enjoy in the 335i sedan, producing something like 320 horsepower. The 228i, unsurprisingly, should use the 2.0-liter turbo-four from the 328i, making around 240 hp. Both engines will almost certainly employ eight-speed automatic transmissions and six-speed manuals.
BMW reacquires original factory as classic center
Thu, 27 Feb 2014BMW was barely two years old when it started manufacturing airplane engines in a factory on Moosacher Strasse in Munich. Two years after that, it sold the factory to Knorr-Bremse AG, a leading manufacturer of brakes for trains and commercial vehicles, and BMW moved into a new facility on Lerchenauer Strasse. There it expanded into the industrial giant we know today, building engines for cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats and planes. It's taken the better part of a century to get that original factory back, but that's exactly what BMW has done, reacquiring the expanded facility from Knorr-Bremse this month.
The factory on Moonsacher Strasse will now serve as the headquarters for BMW Group Classic, the division that handles archives and historical vehicles for BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce. From there, just a stone's throw from corporate headquarters and its main plant (as well as BMW Welt and the BMW Museum), the classic division's operations will include a restoration workshop, vintage parts store, the company's archives, administration as well as a place to hold events. In addition, there will be an exhibition space for historical vehicles from the company's considerable collection.
At the heart of the new/old campus is the gatehouse, which is a protected heritage site and will serve as a gateway into the company's history. Read the full details in the press release below.
BMW M235i Racing takes to the track
Mon, 09 Dec 2013Last month, BMW showed off a motorsports version of its new 2 Series Coupe called the M235i Racing. While that single image was obviously a rendering or design model, BMW Motorsports has now released a video showing the real deal being tested.
From what we can tell from beneath the camouflage, the wide-body fenders - to accommodate a 3.5-inch track stretch - are slightly different than the image BMW previously released. Still, the body is noticeably different from the stock coupe. The video, which is posted below, shows glimpses of the race-prepped interior, including a full FIA roll cage, but more importantly we get to hear the 333-horsepower engine and its throaty exhaust in action.
