It’s not often that a car that comes from across the pond
becomes a desirable collector car as soon as it hits American soil. But there is a major exception for this ultra
rare 2000 BMW M coupe. A total of 2180
of these BMW’s were slotted for North America from 1998-2000. Out of those only
544 were Titanium Silver as this one is advertised here today on ebay. This little pocket rocket was fun to drive
and with its unique bubble back design you couldn’t help but stare when this
zipped down the streets of America. Love
it or hate it, the BMW was the rarest car in its class. But for those that loved it new that this car
was in a class of its own. Once you got
past the design of the exterior and entered the cockpit as the driver, the
interior would wrap around you like a form fitting leather glove. Every option was within a finger’s length from
you and the short through 5 speed wound out the powerful six cylinder under the
hood and made you feel as though you were driving down a long winding mountain
side road even if you were sitting still in traffic.
Please
read on about this beautiful car and view the many pictures and video that is
provided to help depict the true condition of this vehicle. Our lines of communication are open so do not

Exterior:
As
you can see from the pictures below, this car presents very well for being all
original and carrying only 98k miles.
The original paint shines very good and still has a smooth touch and
high gloss appearance. There is below
normal wear on the outside for its age and miles. It has all four original BMW rims and are all
in good condition showing normal wear.
Also notice the factory sunroof option.
This was very rare since most were ordered without sunroofs. The tires are in excellent condition showing
plenty of tread. All the lights, marker
lights and lenses work as they should. Please view the many pictures we have
provided along with a video and let us know of any questions you may have.
Interior:
As
you can see from the pictures this interior is bone stock and original in every
sense. The carpet is in excellent
condition. The dash and door panels are
in excellent condition as well. No
cracks, splits or damage to either the dash or door panels. The headliner
appears to be in new condition. Every
power option works in the car including a/c and heat. The picture of the dash cluster was taken
while the car was running and there are no warning lights and/or check engine
lights. This was truly a non smoker
vehicle. The rear seat is in excellent condition. The interior even come complete with owner’s
manuals and a few maintenance receipts.
Please view the many pictures we have provided along with a video and
let us know of any questions you may have.
Drivetrain:
The
factory S52 3.2L inline 6 provided 240 horses and was only made for North
America. The M Coupe was 199 lbs lighter
then the convertible and an over 2 and 1/2 times stiffer suspension. The car runs and drives perfect. It is very fast, very nimble and very sturdy.
The engine purrs as it should and produces flawless power with no taps, knocks
or smoke. The 5 speed gear box shift
precise and strong with no noise and/or slips.
The cross drilled rotors provide cool safe stopping and all belts,
hoses, suspension and tires are in excellent condition including the dual
exhaust. Please view the many pictures
we have provided along with a video and let us know of any questions you may
have.

The list of finalists for the 2014 Green Car of the Year has been announced, and in a genuinely bizarre twist, there's only one hybrid and no electric vehicles among the five contestants, despite the arrival of cars like the BMW i3 and Tesla Model S. Taking the place of the EVs are a pair of diesels, repping a technology that last won a Green Car of the Year award in 2009, when the Audi A3 TDI took the title. No diesel was in the running for last year's award. Naturally, both of the diesel finalists are fielded by the Germans - with BMW's 328d and Audi's A6 TDI getting the nod. In the case of the 3 Series, BMW installed a 2.0-liter, turbodiesel, capable of delivering 180 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, while returning 45 miles per gallon on the highway. Audi and its larger, 3.0-liter, V6 turbodiesel produce quite a bit more grunt, with 240 hp and 428 lb-ft of grunt, but net a very impressive 38 mpg on the highway in the A6. Finalists for this year's awards include two diesels, three gas-powered cars and a plug-in hybrid.
BMW is definitely going to have its hands full at next month's Detroit Auto Show. The big news might be the debut of the M3 and M4, which were previewed in our Deep Dive, but joining those performance cars under the bright lights will be the all-new 2015 BMW 2 Series Coupe. While we already know most of the details about the 2 Series and its available M Performance parts, BMW has now announced that the Coupe will go on sale in the first quarter of next year with a starting price of $33,025 (*plus $925 for destination) for the base 228i. This price is about $1,500 more than the current 1 Series Coupe, which starts at $31,500, while the M235i's starting price of $44,025 is almost $500 more than the existing 135is Coupe. There is still no indication as to when we'll see 2 Series Convertible unveiled. In addition to new M cars and the 2 Series, BMW's display will also reveal another new color-theme package for the Z4. Last year we saw the Hyper Orange package, and this year will give us the Ivory White Burnt Sienna Z4 available in an exclusive Sparkling Brown Metallic exterior paint color. Scroll down for the full press release of production vehicles BMW has planned to showcase at Detroit's Cobo Hall next month.
It's hard to imagine, but once upon a time, there were only two BMW 3 Series variants: the coupe and sedan. Back before gran coupes, convertibles and yes, even touring models were available, buyers could only get their 3 Series fix if it came with two or four doors and a fixed roof. Back in the mid '80s, BMW engineer Max Reisbock was having some trouble fitting his whole family into his four door. Rather than suck it up and buy a van, he picked up a wrecked 3 Series and got to cutting in a buddy's garage. Months later, he had the very first 3 Series Touring ever built. At first, he kept the the car to himself, using it to haul friends and family around, but he eventually showed it off to his friends at work. When the BMW executives found out about his project, they called him up to take a closer look. After putting an eyeball on the car, they took it, copied his design, made a few tweaks and quickly rolled out the first production 3 Series Touring. How's that for validation? Check out the video below for Reisbock's story.
