This is a 98' 740il BMW

It's had a lot of work done to it. New valley pan seal, new rotors, new tires with only 4000 miles on them, brake pads in good shape, new radiator, new fuel lines, new heater hoses, new alternator, and new battery. A used Transmission was installed a year ago with only 103,000 miles on it.  (Also bought on eBay)  Body in great shape (no rust!) Has the average cosmetic flaws for the year of the car. There is a crack in the front bumper cover as a result of pulling too close to a curb while parking.  Have seen on eBay for around $200 dollars.  My daughter needs a smaller car... Too big for her.

The suspension rides like its gliding down the road. The engine runs great, but it needs a timing chain "guide" NOT a timing chain! The guide is beginning to make some noise which means it needs to be replaced. The car runs and drives, but would not recommend driving any distances until that guide is replaced! Also, needs a new fuel filter put on, which I've already purchased, but haven't had time to put on. The old filter is beginning to show that it needs to be replaced because it deprives the engine of fuel while idling or driving, which will result in what feels like a small jolt ever so often. The driver's side window rolls down about 2 inches- it needs a new window regulator, which I have priced out on ebay for about $40 or $50 dollars. Just needs new filter put on.  This car has a ton of power!!! Very fast as well...

Parts for this car are very affordable since the Birth of Ebay!  some of the parts for this vehicle were less expensive than for my Ford Explorer! it is a great vehicle for someone who is a "do it yourself-er"

2016 BMW 7 Series spied for the first time ever

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Ladies and gentlemen, Bimmerphiles and automotive voyeurs of all stripes: here is your next-generation BMW 7 Series. Captured in photographs for the first time ever while doing a spot of cold-weather testing in Sweden, this newly slim 7er will most likely debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015 and launch in the 2016 model year.
Sources indicate that BMW is targeting a much lighter curb weight for the 7 Series, and will use learnings gained with the i3 and i8 development to add carbon fiber-reinforced plastics in the construction. In return we'd expect the new model - which uses the internal model designation "G11" - to offer improvements in handling, acceleration and fuel economy. As with the current 7 Series lineup, expect the engine range to include turbocharged inline-six engines, one or more V8s and a V12 option.
It's fair to say that, with the car's debut still years down the road, that BMW will work to launch with an impressive suite of in-car technology, too. A completely new version of iDrive shouldn't be ruled out. These shots mark the beginning of a long journey to 2015, and we expect to have loads more information to share in the coming months and years, so stay tuned.

Two rare Alpina BMWs given the Petrolicious treatment

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

Alpina is getting more and more ink because of because of that rolling cannonade known as the B7 and its closer ties with BMW. The company's tuning business dates to 1962 when Burkard Bovensiepen began fiddling with Weber carburetors, then his company began racing in 1968 and was eventually certified as an automaker in 1983.
Two of its rarer specimens from those early years have gotten a glance from the folks at Petrolicious: the E24 B10 and E24 B7S. Based on the BMW 6 Series, the Alpina versions made one of the most special coupes from the Eighties even more so. According to the video, there were only 44 B10s made, and the turbocharged, 333-horsepower B7S - this was in a luxury coupe in 1982, mind you - saw only 33 examples produced.
You won't be sorry to find out more about them - and see how they run - in the Petrolicious video below.

BMW revisits its 8 Series

Thu, 04 Jul 2013

So why would BMW choose July 2 to release a retrospective on the 8 Series? Could it have something to do with the recent unveiling of the Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe concept, another sleek, B-pillarless V12 two-door, at this year's Villa d'Este? We have no idea, but the timing is likely coincidental.
This three-minute look at the 8 Series talks to Niels Hamann, who was smitten with the long-hooded coupe when it appeared in 1989 and finally bought one in 2004. Hamann also happens to be a project manager at BMW, and that came in handy when he wrote a book detailing every aspect of what was BMW's flagship for ten years but to the chagrin of many only managed one generation.
While we wait for the next clue about the Gran Lusso - 8 Series connection, check out the video below.
