This is a 1977 BMW 530ia , sedan with the 3.0 182HP motor,  same as 3.0csi car. 3 spd automatic transmission, with rare BMW ADD ON A/C.

I purchased this car at estate auction in CT. A long time fan of the e28 BMW, I just had to have it. I intended to make a drift car out of it, but once I realized its worth I chose another car.

It has a great history, well documented 1 owner ALL original, all dealer serviced, even documentation of DEALER performed LAmbda conversion. (leaded gas to unleaded conversion) Included in the paperwork is a previous(1990) appraisal for 15-18k. with less than 1000 miles put on it since.

I went through the car myself, it needed a front idler arm. I replaced all 3 components to be thorough.  that was it. I replaced the shocks anyway. So, 4 shocks and bearings associated with the fronts. 4 tires,  new fuel lines(as these tend to wear and bulge with time) EGR DELETE, but I left all the components so It looked original.

This car impressed me with its cleanliness and I was amazed how modern it actually was. It accelerates with a vigor not expected from an older sedan, great feeling transmission, 30 mpg highway, and the Brakes are far better feeling than my 2011 car. It truly makes me sick. Im amazed at what those Germans were able to make back in 1977.

The interior is in outstanding condition , no rips, tears, or stains , great carpet with very little wear. Only thing worth mentioning is the knob missing from the A/C unit. I even have a couple of the original burlap floor mats for the rear.

The exterior is also in fantastic condition but shows its age in some fading, it's minor so It doesn't show in the pictures. Both sides are absolutely perfect silver with no dents scratches or fading.  The hood, trunk, roof no dents or scratches.  the tops have some fading, the worst of it being near the gasket on the moonroof. The chrome is mint all around, There is a small rust spot the size of a quarter on the bottom of the passenger side rocker. It's not on a panel. the trunk looks untouched. the bmw tool kit is complete.
and a RARE BMW raincoat  waits still in the package.
I have both original keys as well as the VINTAGE BMW KEY FOB that pull your radio antennae up.

BMW planning Chinese recall for engine part issue [w/video]

Mon, 17 Mar 2014

After receiving an unspecified number of complaints in China, BMW has reportedly started a "full investigation" into what may be a defective part in its VANOS engine control system. BMW said via a Chinese blog that it would file a recall application with the the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in China.
BMW has not yet announced how many vehicles will be recalled, or which models the potential recall might cover. We're also curious as to whether the VANOS issue could extend into markets outside of China.
We've placed a call with BMW in the United States, and will update this post as soon as we hear back. Stay tuned for more, and if you're curious about what VANOS is and how it works, scroll down below for a video animation.

Two rare Alpina BMWs given the Petrolicious treatment

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

Alpina is getting more and more ink because of because of that rolling cannonade known as the B7 and its closer ties with BMW. The company's tuning business dates to 1962 when Burkard Bovensiepen began fiddling with Weber carburetors, then his company began racing in 1968 and was eventually certified as an automaker in 1983.
Two of its rarer specimens from those early years have gotten a glance from the folks at Petrolicious: the E24 B10 and E24 B7S. Based on the BMW 6 Series, the Alpina versions made one of the most special coupes from the Eighties even more so. According to the video, there were only 44 B10s made, and the turbocharged, 333-horsepower B7S - this was in a luxury coupe in 1982, mind you - saw only 33 examples produced.
You won't be sorry to find out more about them - and see how they run - in the Petrolicious video below.

Bangle urges auto design shakeup, says industry not innovating

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

Controversial designer Chris Bangle, the man behind the notorious E65 BMW 7-Series "Bangle Butt," has some rather sharp criticism for the current crop of automotive designers in an upcoming full-length interview with Automotive News Europe. The preview, posted on Automotive News, details parts of the interview, with the always vocal Bangle lamenting the state of modern automotive design.
"Even concept cars today simply anticipate the next production model coming down the line. Is this innovation? No. And at the end of the day this is what's preventing car design from moving into a new era." Controversial as Bangle's design philosophy may be, we can't help but think he has a point. His so-called "flame surfacing" at BMW and other stylistic elements had a huge influence on modern automotive design, although as the years have passed, there hasn't been much innovation on the same scale.
Interestingly, Bangle also mentions that he's been courted by a few manufacturers that wanted to install the American as the head of their design teams. He's flatly rejected them, telling ANE, "It's not something you can do part time, you have to do it with all your heart and soul or you're going to get it wrong."
