You are viewing a very rare 1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto 1600 Spider 105.03 "garage find" example. Being offered due to recent loss of storage space. I received this email from Alfa Romeo archives: with reference to your request we are informing you as follows.
According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 664733 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 “Duetto” (105.03), manufactured on the 11th April 1967 and sold on the 12th July 1967 in Elmhurst, USA. The body colour is red, with black skai interiors.
Yours, Sincerely,
The "Duetto" has been garage stored for many years, and has recently been brought of out storage. It is in non running condition and will need a full restoration. The Duetto which was designed by Pinin Farina is considered by many to be one of the best designed mass produced Alfa. The '66 & '67 model years are the only "true" Duetto's which are the most collectible of the Roundtail body style. With Giulietta and Giulia Spider prices appreciating rapidly, the Duetto is the next Alfa model to see the same type of appreciation. Unrestored examples are becoming increasingly harder to find and with values on the rise, a high quality restoration can be a great investment. As noted, the Duetto will need a complete restoration. The body is fairly solid with evidence of old body repairs to the rocker panels and other areas. The nose panel had been dinged in the past but does retain some remnants of the original "dimple". There is no evidence of previous accident damage that I can detect. The trunk lid was dented on the left rear as noted in the pictures. There are also old repairs to the trunk lid hinge area which is a common weak point. The trunk lid opens and closes without any issues. Door gaps and hood gaps are excellent. Floors are solid as well as the jump seat area. Rockers will need replacement as well as the radiator support. Has all original bumpers and grill which are all in good original condition. Has original factory 15" wheels including the spare. Has factory headlight covers - they are loosely fitted due to a broken tab and mounting tab. The drivetrain had been removed from the Alfa while it was in storage, prior to my purchase the engine was installed to make transport easier. The transmission is not installed, but is included. Both the engine and transmission will need to be rebuilt. The 1600 engine does turn freely. The follow mechanical components did not come with the Alfa: Carb/intake, clutch, heater box, starter & generator. The interior is in good original condition as noted in the pictures. Original dash not cut up. All gauges in good condition. Driver's side door panel is warped, passenger side in good condition. Includes a full set of factory keys - all keys work including doors and glove box. Convertible top frame in good condition with no damage. Top is old, with rips and taped rear window, but will keep the car relatively dry. Both windows operate fine with no issues with the window regulators. The convertible top boot is from my '69 Spider, and is not included in the auction. Has period correct "wood steering wheel". The Duetto represents a great opportunity for the Alfa enthusiast that is looking for a Duetto and cannot afford a restored example. This Alfa will give you the platform to do the restoration of your choice, knowing that the value will ultimately be determined by the quality of work that is being done. A no expense restoration can still be a worthwhile project with values continuing to appreciate. The Alfa is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. I cannot be held responsible for any errors or inaccuracies that may have been inadvertently been provided. For the motivated buyer, I will consider ending the auction early for a serious offer, however I do not have a buy it now price set. The fine print: If you have 5 or less feedback transactions, you must contact me prior to bidding. A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is due within 24 hours of the auction end. If the deposit is not received, the "Alfa" will be offered to the next highest bidder. The balance is due within 7 days of the auction end date. The car must be picked up within 10 days of the auction end date. A $10.00 per day storage fee will be charged after the 10 days unless prior arrangements have been made. For International Buyers, I have sold several vintage cars to overseas buyers with the buyers being extremely pleased with the sale. "License Plate" and "Convertible Top Boot" not included. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. |

B.A.T. Alfa Trinity, some of the world's most famous concept cars, are up for auction
Fri, Oct 16 2020Of the cars that never saw production, there are a handful that nevertheless have had an outsized influence. Among the most famous are the wild Berlinetta Aerodynamica Technica (B.A.T.) concepts commissioned by Alfa Romeo in the mid-1950s. Three B.A.T. Alfas were created by Italy's Bertone design house and were unveiled at succeeding Turin auto shows in 1953, '54, and '55. The cars are now coming up for auction for the first time as a group at RM Sotheby's Contemporary Art Evening Auction in New York on October 28. The first of the trio was B.A.T. 5, which like its successors was built on the Alfa 1900 Sprint production chassis. The goal of the B.A.T. 5 was aerodynamic efficiency, and the car boasted a cD of 0.23. Aiding the cause were covered front wheels, a greenhouse with steeply curved side glass, and twin tail fins. The second concept was B.A.T. 7, from 1954. It has the wildest styling of the trio, with sharply curved tail fins. It also has the lowest drag coefficient, at 0.19. B.A.T. 9, from 1955, was the most production-feasible of the group. It features an Alfa Romeo shield grille at the front and exposed headlights with clear covers. All three are credited to Franco Scaglione, working with Nuccio Bertone. They were seen together for the first time at the 1989 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. They would appear together again at Pebble Beach in 2005 and at Bertone's 80th-anniversary celebration in 1992. The cars were acquired by a single owner sometime after their first Pebble Beach appearance. The ability to acquire all three at once is part of what makes this an extraordinary opportunity. The B.A.T. Alfas are being sold as a single lot and are expected to bring between $14 million and $20 million.
Alfa Romeo's next GTV could arrive as an electric flagship sedan
Mon, Jun 21 2021Like every brand under the Stellantis umbrella, Alfa Romeo has until 2030 to prove it deserves to live. It's reportedly planning a major overhaul that could bring the well-known GTV nameplate back to the range on an electric sedan. Newly-minted company boss Jean-Philippe Imparato recently said he's "very interested" in making a modern-day GTV, though he significantly warned nothing was set in stone yet. British magazine Autocar understands that all options remain on the table, and one of them is putting the GTV emblem on a battery-powered sedan with a coupe-like roof line. Simultaneously GT and EV, it would be the Italian firm's answer to the BMW i4, among other sedans. It would slot at the very top of the lineup, at least in terms of price and probably in terms of performance. If the rumor is accurate, it would mark the first time the GTV nameplate appears on a four-door in the Alfa Romeo portfolio. It's been used on a number of models since its introduction on a gorgeous, Bertone-designed coupe in 1965, and they've all had two doors. Alfa Romeo came close to dusting off the GTV nameplate on a two-door version of the Giulia which would have been aimed at the BMW 4 Series and Audi's A5 line. While this strategy would have followed tradition (the original GTV was closely related to the original Giulia), the project was canned at an advanced stage due to a perceived lack of demand. Had it been launched, it would have offered a 50/50 weight distribution and about 600 horsepower. Alfisti who find the idea of an electric, four-door GTV unpalatable shouldn't worry yet. Insiders told Autocar that the nameplate might alternatively make a comeback on hybrid coupe; its fate hasn't been decided yet. Of course, it could also not return and remain in the history book, where it's been since the last GTV retired in 2004. What's seemingly certain is that new Alfa Romeo models are around the corner. One is the production version of the Tonale concept, which was reportedly delayed by Imparato earlier in 2021 due to issues with the hybrid system that will be available at launch. Replacements for the Giulia and the Stelvio are said to be in the pipeline, too. Related Video: Green Alfa Romeo Electric Future Vehicles Performance Sedan
