Dishonest
Gateway did an alignment for us after a fender bender. We took the car back a few weeks later because the steering wheel was shaking after the alignment and we assumed the tires needed to be balanced. They told us that the front tires needed to be replaced because they were starting to come apart and that there was a screw in one of the back tires...and subsequently tried to sell us four (not three) new tires. My... view more husband is a fan of Discount Tire so we went there to get a second opinion. They also said that the front tires needed to be replaced. BUT they could not find a screw anywhere in either of the back tires. We bought two new tires from Discount. So basically, Gateway lied to us in an attempt to sell us two additional tires. Extremely dishonest. I had no idea that mechanics (of reputable chains, even) still used these tactics to sell you unnecessary stuff.

Would not recommend at all
I brought my Ford F250 in for an oil change and for a fix for a flat tire. I have two issues with the service I received:
(1) the tire had to be replaced, so they sold me a new Firestone tire. However, the tire was not mounted properly and it went flat on the interstate a few days later. Took it to a local shop (Discount Tire on Hwy 96) and it turns out there was a bead leak which could have been prevented had ... view morethe rim been properly prepared for the new tire at Gateway.
(2) While the truck was at Gateway, I had them do a complete check of the truck. During that check, they told me the truck needed new brake pads all the way around, the rear rotors replaced and the front rotors turned. I took it to another reputable shop for a second opinion. At that shop, they lifted the truck, took all four wheels off and showed me each brake situation. The rear brake pads had 70-80% of the pad left and the rotors were smooth. The front rotors did need to be turned and the pads only had 30-40% left. The total work at the reputable shop was $270 for new brake pads and turned rotors on the front versus $750 quoted at Gateway.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend Gateway in Franklin to anyone. I could perhaps give them a pass on the tire since a bead leak is not uncommon, but telling me that I needed to replace the rear brake pads and rotors when there was clearly 70% or more left (they told me 10%), is just dishonest.
If you want to be treated like a valuable customer, please give the Franklin Auto Doctor on Columbia Avenue a try.

the runaround
I have done business with Gateway before about a year ago, and I drove my car in. This time my car wouldn`t start from work, and I work half a mile from them. They could not find time to come a half mile to test my car out; and I had to get it towed. Way too much trouble for me to continue to go there.

Free Tire patch
I`m a guy and when i called before I went in asked how much a patch would be they told me $15. When all was said and done they patched my tire for free. That`s a great way to create loyalty and repeat business.

High level of integrity. Willing to supply higher grade goods when item sold had inventory error.
I went to get four tires for my piece of s*** (MY TERM NOT THEIRS) project car. Reviewed product line with salesman, selected low cost alternative, purchased tires. Installation begins, car on lift four wheels off, four tires off rims work stops. Salesman returns purchased tire out of stock, next size up in price range out of stock has verified higher grade tire in larger size is in stock and will be installed for... view more price paid if that is acceptable. No request for more money. Work resumes. Stripped stud on left rear, mechanic installs tire. Mechanic shows bad wheel bearing right front. Work completed. That was a year ago. Going back tomorrow for front end alignment on same car.

best service ever
My family and I have taken every car we have owned, while living in TN, to Gateway. They have always been nothing but fantastic. My father used to be a mechanic and there has never been a repair or suggestion that was wrong. The staff is always wonderful. As the other reviewer mentioned, you can sometimes wait for a while, but it`s because they do such great service that everyone keeps coming back. As a matter of fac... view moret, there was a day that my repairs were going to take a long time, so they had a van to take me over to the mall to do some shopping I needed to get done. They came right back to pick me up when my car was ready. I HIGHLY recommend Gateway!

worst custumer service i`ve seen
i went to gateway tire to have a simple patch done on my tire. After waiting for an hour, the gentleman at the desk asked me to come look at my tire, he wanted to speak to me. He showed me that the inside of my tire had worn ""a little"" and i should go and have it replaced as soon as possible but they would patch my tire. So I waited another 15 min only to have him tell me that they didn`t patch it and put my spare ... view moreon instead. They said he didn`t feel it was safe for me to drive on it and instead of patching it like he said, they removed the tire completely and gave me my rim and sent me on my way to drive back to antioch on a spare. I could have had it plugged been able to make it to next paycheck decently but instead they trapped me into having to buy a new tire refusing to give me back my perfectly good tire that only needed a plug. Gateway tire needs to realize that not everybody is made of money. I personally had just been shorted 200 dollars on my last paycheck. They stole my tire and put me in a worse position then when I started. I will never return and will be contacting the appriopiate personel so this does not happen to others.
