1988 Jeep Wagoneer on 2040-cars

I bought this head-turning Grand Wagoneer from a gentleman who had just acquired it at the estate of an elderly
couple in Tucson, Arizona. If you know anything about Grand Wagoneers, you know that it is hard to find one that
doesn't look like Swiss cheese. The dry climate really protected this car's body and critical components. Since
purchasing the truck a couple of years ago, I have spared no expense in reconditioning and upgrading the vehicle to
make it a functional "daily driver". This includes:
Adding Howell fuel injection - the vehicle starts the first time every time and is noticeably more powerful
than with the stock 2BBL carburetor.
Keyless entry with remote starting - great for warming up the truck in cold winters or cooling it off in hot
summers
New A/C compressor
Flowmaster exhaust
FlowKooler water pump - in the hottest summer days, the truck runs at a perfect temperature
Alpine Bluetooth receiver with hands-free microphone
New brake rotors and pads
New window motors
New door lock actuators
New Tailgate motor
Colors are obviously a matter of personal preference, but I think that the Dark Baltic Blue on Tan is one of the
most classic color combinations available in these trucks. The plush carpeting is in great shape and I bought a
rubber custom-fit mat for the cargo area. I am reluctantly selling the truck because we recently moved and we do
not have room (or covered parking) for the truck. You could spend twice as much for a Wagonmaster truck that's
marginally nicer, or spend half as much on another truck that needs significantly more work. It's not perfect, but
I believe that this truck is as nice of a daily driver as you'll find anywhere.
Original owners manual, 1988 factory brochure, original Jensen radio all included.

2014 Jeep Cherokee flaunts its new contemporary curves
Wed, 27 Mar 2013
Only slightly more than one month ago, undisguised (and less-than-flattering) shots of the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee were leaked online. Later that day, in an effort to suppress the uprising, Jeep countered with its own official photography offering us much clearer front and three-quarter views. We've been left to digest those pictures for weeks.
Now, mere hours before the fabric comes sliding off its newest mid-size sport-utility at its live reveal at the New York Auto Show, Jeep has released dozens of new images showing all four corners, plus a few interior shots, of its new Cherokee.
Federal investigations about safety of rear-mounted gas tanks is nothing new
Sun, 09 Jun 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Chrysler are currently making waves in our daily news feeds due to a disagreement over the safety of a few million Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models. Specifically, NHTSA has asked Chrysler to recall the SUVs because of the location of their fuel tanks, but you may be interested to know that requests such as this are nothing new.
Besides the two Jeep models, NHTSA has launched investigations over the years in such models as the Ford Crown Victoria (and its police-car counterpart), GM pickups built between 1972 and 1987, and rather famously the Ford Pinto.
Understanding how automakers and NHTSA have dealt with fuel-tank-safety concerns in the past may offer a better understanding of how Chrysler and the government agency will settle their current dispute. Check out the complete article from The Detroit News here.
2014 Jeep Cherokee facing production delay
Fri, 17 May 2013Jeep's bold-faced new direction spearheaded by the 2014 Cherokee is facing some teething issues. According to a report by the Detroit Free Press, production start-up of the controversial new utility vehicle at its Toledo North facility is running about a month behind schedule "due to a wide range of issues." That's according to Mark Chernoby, senior vice president of engineering at Chrysler.
Chernoby maintains that the issues being encountered aren't unusual for the launch of a new vehicle - particularly one with a new powertrain - and he downplayed the delay, telling Jeep dealers that they "will have ample inventory of the midsize SUV by fall." Among the kinks being worked out? Calibrating the Cherokee's cutting-edge ZF nine-speed automatic transmission and refining assembly line tasks to make the process more efficient.
Chrysler expects to start building retail-ready versions of the Cherokee around mid-June, with official sales slated to start in September.
