I was sold a 2002 Pontiac Mont...
I was sold a 2002 Pontiac Montana by Ron Tonkin Mazda 6/2011 and the radio did not work or the back windshield wiper (they would not repair it) because my $3000 warranty did not cover it. Hmmmm Then the contract was incorrect and they charged me too much for the vehicle, I had to go back in on day 3 to have them correct the issue (I should have taken that as a sign but I did not). Then my car could not make it thr... view moreough DEQ to get it licensed because of the check engine light that would not go off. It took 3 months to get it fixed. The light continued to go on and off ever couple months. On 9/2012 the light came on, so I took it in and my tranny went out, oil leak, o2 sensor( not covered by warranty), power steering leak (that they said the warranty did not cover so I could not get fixed) windshield wiper motor needed replace again not covered by warranty and I could not get it fixed. The total repairs were $ 6,200 and my costs were $661.08 for repairs that the mechanic said was pre-existing. I called Ron Tonkin Mazda to get let them know that they needed to make this right and that selling me a car that knowingly had problems is unacceptable. I have not heard anything back and at this point I am using the media to make my point. I pay 335 a month with 26% daily interest and I have not complained about that but I feel that paying this amount for a car with issues is ridiculous.

Sales Fraud
Horrible experience trying to buy my first new car here. The sales staff told me that I qualified for a rebate on the car for being a recent college graduate. I asked them what I needed to do for the rebate and was told that I didn`t need to do anything as it was a rebate between the manufacturer and the dealer. I was financing through my credit union who could give me an awesome interest rate. Ron Tonkin ran ... view morean amortization schedule for me so that I could see my monthly payment with the final cost of the car (after rebates) at my credit union`s interest rate. The price quote had the salesman`s name on it, the vehicle`s VIN number, the final car amount, loan price, low interest rate, all clearly stated. Also, after I got the quote I spoke with two salesmen multiple times on the phone and they never told me that there were any problems with the price quote or with my rebates. This was on the weekend so on Monday I finalized the loan with my credit union and went back to the dealer to purchase the car. Suddenly they are telling me that I can only get the rebates if I finance my car through them, that that`s how the rebates work, and that their interest rate is 1.5% higher than my credit union`s rate. Even though I have a printed price quote showing that I could get the rebates and finance the car with my credit union, they now would not let me do it. They claimed that they never told me that (even though I had it in writing). I asked the manager what he was going to do for me since his sales staff messed up. He took my price quote, ripped it up, and walked away, refusing to take the hit on the car as a result of his mistake. I feel like they knew about the rebate requirements all along and they were just hoping that I would want the car so badly that I wouldn`t care that the price went up when I came in to sign the paperwork. I would give them 0 stars if I could but City Search makes you give at least 1.

AVOID these guys!
Terrible experience buying a lemon, I mean a car, from these guys. I bought a ""Toyota Certified"" used car from them and obviously the certification process is nothing but hot air because the car immediately had several problems. They ended up having to replace the engine computer, the transmission, and the battery. That`s three separate trips, burning two mornings, and the transmission replacement was a few days, t... view moreo get things fixed that should have been detected during the ""certification"" process. Oh yeah, and the two trips to DEQ, where it failed both times. And on top of all that, I had to deal with several unprofessional, uncaring people, with Nick in finance, being the biggest loser of the bunch. All in all a terrible buying experience, and I suggest, maybe implore, you to buy elsewhere.

Friendly
I didn`t end up buying here, mostly because nobody had the Toyota I wanted new, and used Toyotas are so overinflated right now. It`s a bit more high pressure than most lots, but they`re earnest. They didn`t set a foot wrong, just didn`t have a car I wanted at a price I was willing to pay. If you`re not getting the deal you`d like on the Sienna, look at Kia. I wound up at Hannah Kia at the Vancouver Auto Mall, and had... view more a great experience, a great price, and the Sedona is a great car compared to the Sienna at a better price tag. If you`re heart is set on a Toyota, go see Allwyn, he`ll take great care of you.

Excellent salesperson at this dealership. Josh Jeffrey
I have been in the market for a pre-owned Camry and recently shopped Ron Tonkin Toyota. Although I have not completed the transaction, my sales person Josh Jeffrey was outstanding. He is friendly and professional without the usual hassle and pressure. I plan on buying my car from him when the time is better for me to do so.

Terrible Service and Incompetent Staff!
I have gone to Ron Tonkin Toyota for a while now and I think I am an idiot!
Usually I just get a simple oil change and they seem to be able to handle that, but I do have to wait at least 45 minutes (which isn`t so bad because I get to catch up on my homework). Anything else though and these guys mess it up. Replacing an oxygen sensor ended up with the tech breaking a bolt (which they wanted to charge me for !) On... view moree quote for work turned out to be way overpriced when I talked to a junior level service person (which then turned into the original service person back pedalling and her trying to justify why she was going to bend me over and give me the shaft) Whenever I get quotes for a job it turns into scribbles and BS on the work order. The last job I had them do I walked in and pointed to a printed estimate for a job and I simply said, ""I want this done today, please."" I find out today they only did half the job and they want to charge me $500 to finish it (after I already spent $270!) These people are not good at their jobs. I have worked in the auto buisness for about twelve years now and I know the routine. I realise they have to up sell some unimportant stuff and scare you into thinking you need it. Thats the American way! Sell it! But, at the very least they should be able to do their job correctly.I have never told them that I am in their buisness because I don`t think I should have to. I always come away from there feeling like I took my car to a cheap garage but without the cheap garage prices! Don`t go there please! I am going to do my research and take my car elsewhere.

They did manage to put new tires on my car without a problem. The tech that did that has probably moved on to better things though...

Best customer service in their service department. Very professional sales staff, as well.
I`ve been taking my 2003 Tacoma to Ron Tonkin Toyota since I purchased it, about 4.5 years ago. The vehicle was originally purchased at Broadway Toyota, but they really didn`t seem very enthused about scheduling an oil change. So, pn a recommendation of a friend, I tried Tonkin and have been going ever since. One time, the service folks were about 20 minutes late getting my pickup out of the shop; the service mana... view moreger apologized and gave me a coupon for a free oil change.

I`ve been so impressed with their service, my girlfriend and I bought our Prius from them. Just took it into the ship for the 5k oil change. When it was time to pay the bill, the guy behind the counter said, ""No charge for the first time. We appreciate you business.""

Everyone at the dealership seems very attuned to customer satisfaction. I hghly recommend this shop.

poor service
I am not happy with the service here. It took longer time than what they told you. I came here because I have a life time oil-change service here. Sometimes I would find my radio volume turned up so high and the other time they spilled my drink in the car and didn`t even bother to do something about it. A couple of times my cd player was not working well (happened both times after I took my car here.) and they ... view moresaid they will make a call for parts to replace it and 3 weeks later I called back and they haven`t done anything at all.

Today I went in to have my headlight checked because it is foggy. The front desk woman told me I have to check if my warrenty covered it. She didn`t seem to want to make any effort in helping at all. Not even a smile for customers. Don`t think she should be working in the service department.

I agree with the other reviewer. Each time I go there, I leave angry. I think I will go some place else.

Poor customer service
I just read another user`s review about Tonkin Chevrolet and felt compelled to write something about Tonkin Toyota. I`ve taken my car to be serviced at Tonkin Toyota several times and each time I leave angry. The most recent incident occurred a couple of months ago when I brought my car in for the 60k service. I called a couple of days before to make an appointment and asked for the earliest appointment available.... view more I was told I could bring my car in at 8am on Saturday and the service would take two hours. I arrive the morning of the appointment and as soon as I enter the building, a woman greets me with, ""What do you need?"" Who greets customers that way??? She didn`t even say, ""Hi."" The service manager, Mike, checks me in and tells me he would call once the car was finished. I left and returned not at 10am, but at 12pm and my car STILL was not done. In fact I saw a technician taking my car for a test drive. I went inside and inquired when my car would be done, but the guy at the counter rudely said, ""I don`t know. I don`t know where your paperwork is."" Then he ignored me! Mike comes in and he doesn`t even acknowledge my presence. I waited for an additional 45 minutes before I was able to get my car back. The only reason I went there was because it`s close to my house! Save your time and money and take your car to Beaverton Toyota. They`re much nicer and the customer service is so much better there!
