Great Service for many years

They were around when there was only Leith (need we say more on that topic!). They have serviced 4 hondas for our family. They are extremely helpful on the phone and once called ahead to a dealership in another state when I was on a trip to let them know to expect me and what to look for in my car. They go out of their way to let you know which repairs are necessary and serious and which can wait.

Inflated diagnosis

We had our Honda towed to this TAO auto because it would not start on a Tuesday, and called with our phone number and information. They said they could look at it, find the problem and possibly repair it within the week. We did not hear from them, so we called on Friday and they seemed confused and took our name and number again and apologized. The next Tuesday they called us with an estimate over 700 dollars for ... view morethe car, claming the whole distributor needed to be replaced along with service on two other parts. Luckly, a friend of ours works for Wake Tech and he offered to take the car on as a teaching project. They looked at it and said that only a small part of the distributor needed to be replaced (less than 50 dollars) and that the other two items were not neccecary. The car is running perfectly perfectly after the one repair. Wake Tech college also found one of the wires near the distributor with a clean cut through it that TAO never mentioned to us. We ended up paying TAO 40 dollars for a very inflated and in some way false diagnosis.

my family has used the tao in Cary for many years with no problem, but we will not be back to north raleigh.

Honda experts

Have a Honda that needed a timing belt change, and tune-up Their price was very decent for the timing belt change (although I DID go to another reputable place, and saved about $50 bucks), and the tune-up price was the same as other places I looked into Although I never used their services, the guy on the phone gave me A LOT of helpful information. I found out thru them that one or two other places I was looking a... view moret to do the work, were doing 1 of 2 things-- either missing something vital, or adding on unnecessary extras that weren`t needed and only were draining my wallet. They took the time on 3 or 4 different phone calls, and consistently steered me in the right direction. Hats off to you!

Honest and knowlegeable auto repair shop with reasonable prices! At last!!

I own a 91 Lexus LS 400 which had a coolant leak. Knowing that this car was expensive to repair, I wanted a diagnosis before making a decision as to how much I was willing to spend on this vintage vehicle. Although it has 165,000 miles on it, it is otherwise in great shape and worthy of repair. Anticipating the worst, I was pleasantly surprised at Tao`s diagnosis and estimate of repair cost. Uh they forgot something...

Went to these folks for overheating and bad brakes. Got car fixed quickly(within 1 day).Price wasn`t so great. End of story,right? Nope. Week after repairs, hear a rattling in rear passenger wheel. Husband removed wheel and discovered two caliper pins were missing! Not a car expert but the caliper is an important part of the disc brake system, it needs all its pins or it`ll be loose. Checked on it next day, guy was not helpful,rude...said problem was already fixed,what they fixed was under warranty (thanks Captain Obvious) and that`s all he had to say(no details, nothing) with NO APOLOGY. Still under warranty... the pins were MISSING.They overlooked something important. Could have caused major problems with my car!! They can kiss me, my Honda, and my business goodbye! That`s of course if they haven`t forgotten anything else.

Be careful

I brought my Accord to Tao Auto several times and spent more than $2000 with them. I think they are ok but are not shy about recommending additional repairs. Once I went to them for a bulb replacement (I could not get the bulb out myself :-() and ended up spending an additional $50 for a hose replacement. Another time, I asked them to check an oil leak. They said the leak was occurring somewhere around the radiator (... view morecorrect) and a replacement was needed (very expensive - more then $300; tightening the clamps would have been the practical solution). They did want not bother to check thoroughly, and recommend the cheaper solution. I think they are ok but there are other Honda specialists in town who are as good or may even be better.

Honda Love

I have absolute faith that every time I drop my car off at TAO it is getting nothing but the best service and care!
