Aviod PEP BOYS like the BLACK PLAGUE
On Saturday February 27th at approximately 8:50 a.m., after once again opening the hood and inspecting the oil and coolant levels, I proceeded to Pep Boys auto service location at 5615 East Kings Canyon, Fresno CA. 93727 for a previously scheduled appointment for service to have a complete brake service that included replacing all the pads and inspecting brake components for excessive wear. When I came to pick up th... view moree Explorer I noticed that once again, the vehicle was left unlocked and this time the front passenger roll-up window was all the way down and I could smell the unmistakable odor of STALE LIQUOR, I immediately opened the hood to make a quick inspection and as I came around to the front of the vehicle to unhook the safety catch on the front of the hood, I immediately noticed that there was a ""fresh"" dent on the front top of the hood just slightly right of the center that I knew with all certainty was not there before when I dropped it off, and I knew of an existing problem with the hood catch that required that you drop the hood slowly past the first hook on the safety catch then press down to lock, which I showed the technician that was performing the oils service the previous week. I also noted that there was fresh damage too the latch area on the underside of the hood making it much more difficult to close the hood and also that the hood lamp or light was missing indicating that the hood was slammed down with such force that the bulb was ejected from the factory socket that normally locks the bulb securely and has never come out before. I immediately brought this to Hu`s attention, he responded by inspecting the damage on the hood and he also pointed out that I had another dent on the hood as if to indicate that this new damage was less significant. I also informed him that I absolutely knew that the damage happened while in the garage and I proceeded to demonstrate how I believed that it happened as I have had much experience working with and maintaining this car and could see where the technician was probably getting frustrated with the hood and doing anything just to get it to latch including forcing the hood down and slamming it shut really really hard, not even applying any grease to the catch which may have made it a little easier to lock. Hu`s was quick to state that he would work with me on the labor and parts cost of a future service. I told Hu that I wanted him to make a formal note on our service history of this occurrence and he told me he would. As I was leaving with the Explorer, I immediately noticed the brakes malfunctioning with a significant decrease in braking ability even at reduced speeds I was having difficulty stopping the car which was making a loud grinding sound every time I would depress the brake pedal and the pedal itself would kick back pushing your foot off of the pedal. I was amazed that I just picked up this vehicle from a $418.00 brake inspection and service, and the brakes were left as fixed by the technician and handed to me in a condition that would have clearly posed an extreme safety hazard to myself while driving the Explorer and anyone driving around me, I knew the technician had test drove the car because I had set the odometer to zero just before leaving the vehicle for service and when I was leaving with the Explorer I noted that the odometer showed three miles had been driven. and when they returned Hu said the the problem was ""ABS"" related and that that was a separate issue from the brakes themselves and he opened the hood and removed to of the modules that monitor ABS function and then test drove the vehicle again. When returning this time, he told me that the brakes worked fine now and to leave out the modules until I could get to Ford dealership for inspection.

Great Customer Service
Needed to purchase an Alternator for my Toyota Pick Up. The employees at the parts desk were extremely hlepful. They showed and explained to me the different warranty Alternators and offered related merchandise that I didn`t think of needing and changing when replacing the Alternator. The price was the lower than other parts stores I called. They told me that they also match and beat competitors prices by 5% if their... view mores is higher. The other Pep Boys I`ve been to does not have the service as this one. I will always come back to this Pep Boys at Clovis and Kings Canyon.
