1992 Porsche 968 Base Convertible 2-door 3.0l, Exceptional Near Flawless Car!!! on 2040-cars
Hayward, California, United States
1992 Porsche 968 Cabriolet. Black, Black, Black. 57k mi. With option 220, LSD. Incredible and rare car with some rare and desirable options.
Background: I am a collector of 968's. I've had 14 over the years. This was my first and the one that got me hooked. This is also the best one I've ever seen in person tho' I've certainly seen some nice ones on the internet. I've owned 33 Porsches and 14 968's. This is my second favorite car of all time. (57 black Speedster) from among Speedsters, 356 SC's, 914-6 s, 911SC's, Turbos, 951's, 75 Carreras. I've owned it for 8 years and must sell it for several reasons. This is a PCA car. BTW, I've sold 14 Porsches and 10 968's on eBay and can provide some references from these transactions. I am not a dealer and I do not buy and sell cars for profit. The car is virtually perfect! 100% original. Not restored in any way. All factory applied paint. 1 exception. Upgraded Sony radio Multi CD player. Reason for sale: I am retired and fixed income. I have two others and I am simply paranoid about driving this one because it is so perfect. Two of the four have to go and I would rather someone else enjoy a car that is so perfect that I constantly worry about it. In addition, I've recently relocated and downsized with much smaller garage. Subaru Outback acquired as daily driver so two toys have to go. This car which I am paranoid to drive and the Boxster have to go as I can't give up the speed yellow cab or the "CS" copy. Exterior Cosmetics: All 100% original factory paint, no body repairs, no rash, no scrapes, scratches, dents, dings, fades or flaws anywhere (Exception: for see photos where I point at 3 tiny items.) The paint gets comments every place this car goes. Seriously, the paint on this car is shockingly perfect. I've been called out on my description because the photos of the wheels clearly show flaws (curb rash) so let me deal with that separately. I stand by my statement about the car with the exception of the wheels. These are not original to the car. They were hurredly purchased to return the car to stock for a deal that fell through. Convertible top: Black top and rear window original but excellent. Top mechanism works perfectly, locks in place perfectly and is leak free. Interior Cosmetics: Black leather sport seat interior is perfect and has never had Armorall or any other protectant or restorer used ever. Interior has only been cleaned with natural hide foods and leather conditioners. There is not even a hint of a dash crack. The car has always been kept covered in the sun. I had a quick on, quick off cover for the interior and a windshield screen that I always used to prevent sun damage. See photo for bolster condition. :) Mechanical and Accessories: None of the usual 968 bugs. Timing belt and water pump fine. Brakes and 6 speed transmission fine. Mobile1 conversion 5 years ago. Service records binder goes with the car. Recent oil change and tech inspection. Everything on this car works. Every single light, cruise control, dash funtions, etc. No surprises. My maintenance motto is deal with honest people and do expensive preventive rather than life altering repairs. Wheels and Tires: I recently returned the wheels to original 16's as I had a buyer who wanted original so I removed the aftermarkets. However, at the point of delivery his unhappy wife entered and nixed the deal. (He had it coming, but I lost the sale.) Rear tires have less than a documented 400 miles on them. Front tires less than 2000. I had to put fresh rubber on in order to do the wheel swap. The wheels can be restored for about $400 or you can upgrade to 17"s or 18"s. Music: Sony 10 CD changer and AM/FM. Photos: I've displayed the maximum amount of photos the listing will allow. Please note the photos showing the underside of the engine and trunk lids, the fuel filler compartment, engine compartment and the trunk ledge and rubber. These photos are meant to display how immaculate this car is throughout. The entire car is like that. Note driver side seat bolster. Pointing fingers are the only two paint flaws on the entire car. There is no road rash anywhere on this vehicle. No lower or front bumper and no hood rash whatsoever. Only the items I've pointed at. Summary and Bold Statement: This car has no issues and is PCA Manhattan trophy capable with preparation. All questions welcomed. Please do not bid of you have fewer than 10 completed eBay transactions or less than a 95% rating. NOTE: ONCE again. Virtually perfect! 100% original. Not restored in any way. All factory applied paint. The only thing non original is the Sony radio and 10 disc changer. This car is a ready made show stopper winner. It needs nothing. |

Porsche Cayenne shows a bit more face, plug-in spotted
Fri, 14 Mar 2014Porsche was first rumored to be working on a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Cayenne over a year ago. However, we had never seen it, until now. The new model was caught almost completely undisguised while testing. In another stroke of luck, we got a glimpse of the upcoming facelift for Porsche's SUV (pictured above) as well.
According to the spy shooter, it was windy during the cars' cold weather testing. The cover blew off of the facelifted Cayenne, and there was enough time to snap these pictures before it could be hidden again. The changes are all quite minor but jive with what we saw the last time it was spied. The rear still wears some cladding but is expected to be hiding lights similar to the Macan.
The second gallery shows off the upcoming Cayenne PHEV. It looks nearly identical to the standard model, except for the extra panel on the driver's side of the car that hides the electric port. One image even shows the car plugged in. The new version is expected to use the same supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and 9.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack with a combined 416 horsepower and 435 pound-feet of torque from the Panamera S E-Hybrid. We enjoyed the system when we tested it last year. It's rumored to debut on the SUV sometime this year.
Porsche Macan caught completely uncovered
Wed, 31 Jul 2013Porsche is preparing to launch its sub-Cayenne CUV, with a suspected debut at the 2013 Los Angeles International Auto Show, which means we're right about at the point where undisguised models start scampering around the cities and towns of Germany. Our spy photographers snagged just such a model, with only the headlights and taillights concealed by camouflage (no, those comically large lamps aren't a production item).
The undisguised car looks like a tiny Cayenne. Not really surprising, we know, but it's impressive to see how the Cayenne's styling works with the smaller proportions of the Macan. It looks squat, athletic and poised, like it's a small, "sporty" crossover we'd actually want to drive. Both the Macan and the Macan Turbo are shown, with the more powerful model sporting a set of quad exhausts.
The only big questions now concern the shape of the lights and the interior. From the photos, we can see a rough outline of the headlights, although the taillights are more difficult to discern. The interior remains a mystery.
Jay Leno plugs himself into Porsche's 918 Spyder
Mon, 24 Mar 2014As one of the greatest sports car manufacturers of all time, when Porsche puts out a new, ultra-exclusive hypercar, enthusiasts tend to stand up and take note. Jay Leno is no exception, and now, the funnyman is finally getting his time with awesome 918 Spyder.
With his 1963 Porsche 356 and his 2005 Carrera GT flanking a Liquid Silver 918, Leno takes us through the basics of this plug-in hybrid roadster alongside Daniel Eastman of Porsche North America. Following the chat, Leno and Eastman take the German-plated car through the streets of California, testing it in a number of modes and even going on a short, all-electric freeway cruise.
If you're looking to learn more about the 918, or to just here its glorious gas engine at work, you'll want to scroll down and take a look at the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
