1969 Pontiac Firebird Body/Shell and Doors ONLY. Let me repeat, It is only the Body and 2 Doors. NOTHING else. No front clip, No sub-frame, No Rear end, No Glass, No Interior, No electrical. Not even a wind shield wiper or window track in this thing.

Was a Factory V8 Automatic with AC and Power Steering.

Data Plate 22337LOS511088- states car is a factory V8 1969 Firebird, built in Los Angeles, 4th week of November. It was the 415th car down the line on the 20th of Nov. Seriel # 511088. Car is factory Limelight Green Exterior with Green Int and Had a factory Green Vinyl Top. VIN is 223379L109655. Have full History report of Vehicle from PHS. Original Northern CA car.

This Body is as clean as you would want one to be for a factory restoration or something with modifications. Slight surface rust, but so light its still smooth as paint. No pitting or holes from rust what so ever. You can see by the pics that this thing is clean, fresh from the Desert Barn. Check out the lower doors, lower quarters, below rear glass. A-Pillars, B-Pillars. This thing is amazing. 12" holes in rear floor board with partial rear frame missing from some hack job. (Cheaper to replace 2 rear frame rails than 2 rear quarters) Car is gutted because I was going to build  an all new $75k car and only wanted the body and doors so I parted out the rest of car. Currently sits on  home made dolly to roll around and move. Car has 3 minor issues: Cut out in Firewall above Tranny, (2) Holes and frame cut outs in rear and Drivers side lower Quarter needs to be repaired. (not replaced, easy repair) Clear VIN through CA DMV, Bill of Sale only.

Perfect CA car for replacement of a rusted out shell. Buyer assumes any and all shipping responsibility. Reserve right to end auction early as vehicle is for sale locally. Any questions, feel free to call Todd @ 916-337-6567.

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge vs. 2006 GTO, which Goat gets your vote?

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
