2014 Nissan Gt-r Track Edition Coupe 2-door 3.8l on 2040-cars
Norwell, Massachusetts, United States
The Nissan GT-R is the ultra-modern supercar, featuring an unmatched blend of technology, innovation, and soul. Press the Nissan GT-R accelerator and you feel the power of a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged 24-valve V6 engine. The 6-speed sequential dual-clutch transmission shifts as quickly as 0.15 seconds when in R-Mode and the electronically controlled All-Wheel Drive system provides up to 100% of available torque to the rear wheels, and can send up to 50% of torque to the front wheels. Stopping will not be a problem with massive 15.4 inch front rotors and 15.0 inch rear rotors, especially with a heat management system which uses diamond-pattern ventilation inside each disc to rapidly extract heat. Make a visual statement with powerful LED Daytime Running Lights. Plus, High Intensity Discharge headlights provide the GT-R with wider stronger illumination coverage. A series of composite panels beneath the Nissan GT-R keeps the underside clear of obstructions, creating down force that literally pulls the car to the road, reducing drag. The high-performance tires are filled with nitrogen, rather than conventional air, because nitrogen significantly reduces pressure changes during high-performance driving. The GT-R features bold interior touches like the black leather steering wheel, shift knob and emergency brake handle. The carbon-fiber and charcoal brushed-metal trim throughout, highlights the ergonomic, modern design of the performance cockpit. The GT-R also features heated front seats which are appointed with supple black leather, and distinctive synthetic suede inserts provide a striking contrast. While the driver's seat has 8-way power adjustability to ensure that all drivers will be comfortable behind the wheel. Protecting the most precious cargo, the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) includes dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors. Also, roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags provide head protection for outboard occupants.

Datsun to unveil second model later this month
Sun, 08 Sep 2013Datsun, Nissan's new sub-brand for emerging markets, has announced plans to unveil its second model. Its first, the Go, was unveiled almost two months ago, and promised affordable, connected motoring for five in a handsome hatchback body. Datsun is following that up with a pair of new models for Indonesia.
The first of these two new vehicles will be shown on September 17 in Jakarta, eschewing the typical auto show debut. It's targeted at so-called "risers," the nickname for a group of highly aspirational customers in the Indonesian market. Datsun developed it locally with help from Nissan, and it'll cost under 100 million Indonesian rupiah (about $8,900 at today's rates).
We'll have the full boatload of information on the newest member of the Datsun family when it debuts on September 17. Scroll on to read the full press release from Datsun.
Nissan Leaf Nismo RC Concept [w/video]
Fri, 20 Sep 2013Nissan took the wraps off its Leaf Nismo RC Concept at the New York Auto Show more than two years ago. As inferred, the vehicle shares many of its pure-EV components with the production Leaf currently sitting in your dealer's showroom. But don't assume the concept is a placid, family friendly, four-place, front-wheel-drive plug-in for grabbing groceries - the RC (as in "Racing Challenge") is a purpose-built, two-seat, rear-wheel-drive prototype race car tuned for the short track.
The RC Concept is fitted with an 80-kW AC synchronous motor driving the rear wheels and drawing power from a 48-module lithium-ion battery. While the motor and battery are nearly identical to the consumer-friendly Leaf, a sleek full carbon-fiber monocoque body shell and a slew of other enhancements mean the RC is 40-percent lighter, a foot shorter in overall height and nearly seven inches wider than its commuter namesake. Nissan says the RC Concept will hit 62 miles per hour in about 6.8 seconds, top out at 93 mph and run for about 20 minutes under race conditions (it will accept an 80-percent charge in 30 minutes with a quick-charger). Understandably, if a zero-emissions motorsport series comes to fruition, the races would be short and nearly silent.
We caught up with the Leaf Nismo RC concept in Southern California, where we were offered the opportunity to zip it around a tight autocross at the former Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro.
2014 Nissan Frontier Diesel Mule [w/poll]
Wed, 30 Jul 2014Last August, Nissan shook the truck world when it officially announced plans to source a diesel option from Cummins for its long-overdue Titan replacement, its full-size pickup that's slated to drop this January at the Detroit Auto Show. The 5.0-liter V8 turbodiesel is expected to make somewhere around 300 horsepower and north of 500 pound-feet of torque. This combination of an all-new truck with this new powerplant promises to dramatically change the competitive landscape, splitting the difference between the heavy-duty goliaths from the Detroit Three and the Ram 1500 Ecodiesel. And the intrigue moved a step further when the Frontier Diesel Runner Concept showed up at February's Chicago Auto Show, as it displayed a growing relationship between Nissan and Cummins in a very interesting potential future product.
That concept would melt its clear acrylic hood if the engine ran too long, but this month, we got a chance to test drive a production mule, an otherwise normal Frontier with a Cummins 2.8-liter diesel four-pot under the hood and a ZF eight-speed automatic changing gears. The powertrain figures to be a direct competitor to the 2.8-liter Duramax promised for General Motors' Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon twins, but will Nissan build it? All signs point to probably. Officially, Nissan is taking no position on the future of this program, but a concept followed by putting journalists into a test mule suggests the company is considering the option very seriously. Here's what we gleaned from a brief drive around the posh suburbs of Nashville:
Before we get too deep into this Quick Spin, realize this Frontier is absolutely a mule, not a prototype. More or less cobbled together with duct tape and baling wire, it's not meant to be representative of a finished product, or even a started product. The transmission and shifter is straight out of a Chrysler 300 and the shifter surround is cut out of a panel of plastic. The "Low Sulfur Diesel Only" sticker is, well, just stuck on. We're looking at a "What if?" mockup.
