This vehicle I restored with Ken at Rally Sport in New Haven VT. The vehicle was completely gutted and rebuilt to exacting standards for the dual purpose of road ability and some low key sports car events. Including a brand new 1380cc engine and 4 speed transmission. We finished the project in late 2009 and shortly there after I moved to Cape Cod driving it down under its own magnificent power! I have driven it sporadically and shown it in a couple of car events and a parade but never competitively. I may have put a total of 1500 miles on it and the engine seems to have broken in well. It is an original right hand drive car but everything else has been upgraded. all new leather looking interior with wooden dash upgrades from England.

The only known defect is a non-working gas gauge - it did work but read in reverse, full when empty. Since odometer works never seemed to need to repair gauge. Always garaged and covered.
This is a very drive-able and loads of fun car and a real  head turner. The mileage on the odometer shows 39,000 + and probably it was accurate but I listed 1500 since that is my guesstimate since restoration.
Reason for selling - I'm now 73, bought a camper and plan to travel. Cars are meant to be driven and not sitting in garages so will part reluctantly with my Mini. As an aside I used to race and rally Mini's in the 60's and 70's so am very familiar with these cars and this is a true winner! Another aside is that I am five foot ten inches and weigh 250 lbs - a very easy fit for me.

Mini goes zany with latest accessories catalog

Tue, 25 Mar 2014

Driving a Mini is most definitely an individualistic choice - one that not everyone would get on board with. So if you're going to go with such a fashion statement, you might as well give it your own sense of style. That's where Mini's new line of accessories come in.
Available for the new third-gen Mini hardtop, the accessories offer buyers the opportunity to customize their retro hatchback as best they see fit. There are roof graphics, accessory lighting, wheel upgrades and mirror caps (like the cartoonish ones pictured at right) just like you would have found in the parts catalog for previous iterations of the Mini, but now the brand is offering four appearance kits it's calling Mini Design Lines.
The kits are color coordinated in either Vivid Green, Speedwell Blue, John Cooper Works Pro (in black, red and grey) and Essential Black and include everything from the interior trim to exterior graphics. They might not be to everyone's taste, but that kinda strikes us as the point. Scope 'em out in the extensive high-res image gallery above and the details in the press release below.

Mini Vision concept presages next-gen Cooper Hardtop

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

Mini is preparing to launch the third-generation of its trademark three-door hatch, and while we've already shown you that car mostly devoid of camouflage in spy shots, the BMW-owned brand has still seen fit to release a concept that previews the new design. Called the Mini Vision, it looks broadly similar to the cars we showed you at the beginning of the month, aside from a few concepty styling pieces.
The Vision is a well-balanced blend of the stylish hatch that rebooted the Mini brand in 2002 and the more bloated model that arrived in 2007. It's more rounded than the 2002, but seems decidedly more muscular than the 2007, and features modern accents like full LED headlights inspired by the sadly not-for-production Rocketman concept. Mini's traditional floating roof soldiers on, while the concept wears side grilles that seem borrowed from the Countryman and Paceman. Based on what we've seen in the spy shots, however, that treatment isn't going to make production, at least not on the models we've seen.
It's safe to say that the interior on this concept bears only a slight resemblance to what we'll see on the production car. The integrated Union Jack straps in the door panels are a cool touch, but the Vision's cabin looks like something out of a flying saucer. We'd expect only inspirational traces to arrive on the production model.

Mini nixes plans for 7-seater, Countryman to stay largest model

Sat, 08 Mar 2014

Contrary to popular belief, it seems that Mini's growth plans do have a limit both in size and number of models. During the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, it unveiled the six-door Clubman concept (pictured above) that was 4.4-inches longer and about two-inches wider than even the current Countryman crossover. Mini design chief Anders Warming says that this is the new size limit for its models, and the BMW subsidiary isn't building a larger, seven-passenger vehicle above the current Countryman.
"We won't build anything bigger than the Countryman, not at this moment. You should be able to park a Mini in a city, so a Countryman or this new Clubman is as big as it should be," said Warming to Auto Express in Geneva. Rumors going back to last November, pegged the Mini as developing an even larger vehicle to take on mainstream CUVs.
While Warming is ruling out a bigger Minis for now, a smaller one like the Rocketman concept still might be in the cards. He said that the project has been warmly received but still had to be investigated because "it's a numbers game." So if bigger Minis aren't coming, there still might be a slim chance for a smaller one.
