This is one of those rare and special cars that doesn't come out of hiding very often, especially in this condition.
This car is COMPLETELY STOCK - NO MODS at all except for renewing the tires, and has only 24,000 miles!
This beautiful 1992 Miata was a special edition car known as the "Black Miata". (See the Mazda ad at the end of the photos display.)
This special edition package featured a black exterior and tan leather interior, boot and top.
Power windows, power steering, a leather wrapped steering wheel, special BBS alloy wheels, and AM-FM cassette stereo.
Additional special trim items include a Nardi wood shift knob and brake handle, stainless steel sill plates, cruise control, headrest speakers and an automatic antenna.
This car also comes with the optional hard top, which truly blends well with the sytle of the car for cooler season driving.
This car is in exceptional condition.
Mechanicals are excellent - steering tight - strong engine.
The paint is original, bright and shiny, virtually as new. I'd call it 99%+.
The leather is clean, supple and without any cracking or evidence of drying out.
There are no marks on the dash panel, door interiors, and the steering wheel leather is like new with no cracking at all.
This car has rarely seen rain, and the underside is nearly as clean as the top.
I am only the second owner of this beautiful car since new, and when I asked the first owner if the windshied wipers worked, he replied "I don't know, I've never driven it in the rain!" (They do.)
The car has now been rained on a couple of times or so, but it spends most of the time in my air-conditioned garage to protect it from the sun and heat.
This highly collectable Miata is truly a rare find and would be a prized piece for any collector.
The car is located in Colleyville, Texas which is only about 15 minutes away from the Dallas-Fort Worth airport.
Please feel free to contact me. If you are near the Dallas-Fort Worth area you should come see this car for yourself!

Takata airbag recall spreads to China with 42k Mazda sedans

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

The scope of the problem with the faulty airbag inflators from Takata continues to broaden and is now reaching China, as well. Mazda is recalling 42,732 Mazda6 units there, produced by its local joint venture partner China FAW Car Company, to replace the front passenger airbags. It comes as part of Mazda's recall of nearly 160,000 vehicles worldwide, including about 34,600 in the US, according to Reuters.
This is the same problem that caused seven automakers in the US to recall an estimated 2.1 million vehicles in late June. The airbag inflators can potentially explode instead of deploying the airbag, which hampers the bag's inflation. In some cases occupants are also hit by the metal shrapnel, which can cause further injuries. In the US, Mazda is repairing the 2003-2007 Mazda6 (pictured above), 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed6, 2004 MPV and 2004-2008 RX-8 originally sold in or currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii.
This is hardly the first instance of this issue. Since 2001, there have been 20 recalls tied to the exploding airbags supplied by Takata. The problem is possibly linked to the propellant in the inflators, but there's no conclusive evidence of that yet. Most of the automakers in the US limited the most recent recalls only to a few humid states because moisture potentially exacerbated the problem.

Lexus, Mazda and Subaru top Consumer Reports Brand Report Cards

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

A revised methodology in devising its annual Car Brand Report Cards has seen Consumer Reports award Lexus its top overall ranking for 2013. For the first time ever, the institute broke out individual brands from their larger corporate umbrellas, meaning car makers like Lexus and Scion were judged independently from parent company Toyota. That strategy worked out well for Lexus, as the luxury brand earned a top report card score of 79 for the 2013 model year.
The institute has recommended every one of the Lexus models it has tested to date, and said that the company's products won out thanks to "a foundation of plush and very reliable vehicles."
Meanwhile, Mazda and Subaru tied for the second-highest scoring report cars, with scores of 76. Subaru earned praised for sporting models like the BRZ, which CR testers apparently had a lot of fun driving (naturally), while the Mazda products were lauded for their blend of practicality, sportiness and efficiency. Both of the Japanese brands offered good handling, fuel economy and versatility, said Consumer Reports.

2014 Mazda6: June 2013

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

The 2014 Mazda6 is our most recent addition to the Autoblog long-term fleet, and we spent the month of June getting to know our Soul Red tester, generally enjoying the honeymoon phase of this twelve-month relationship. During June, the Mazda6 spent the majority of its time with director of photography Drew Phillips, who in addition to putting together this pretty gallery of our rakish long-term car, had a lot to say about it as a daily driver.
You see, not too long before Mazda delivered our long-term 6, Drew bought a 2014 CX-5 crossover to support his growing family. The CX-5 was the first vehicle to use Mazda's full suite of Skyactiv technologies, and we've generally enjoyed the good-to-drive CUV. A lot of that CX-5 goodness lies beneath the more shapely lines of this sleek Mazda6 sedan, so it's only fitting that Drew had a lot of comparisons between Mazda's two housemates during his month behind the wheel.
