1984 Caterham Super 7. Well sorted Car. Holby 1800 cc motor. Recent engine over haul with new steel crank, Fardon rods, J E pistons, valves, bearings, water pump, oil pump,oil cooler,oil lines and oil cooler thermostat. The motor is very strong. New gear reduction starter. It has the latest current Caterham alloy radiator and cooling fan. It has been up rated to current Caterham/AP 4 pot alloy front calipers and vented discs. It has an Odyssey dry battery and battery master switch. 4 speed. RHD. Paint has some checks and blemishes, but the fibreglass and alloy is in very good condition. This of course a CATERHAM Super 7. Lotus is used only to reach a wider audience. Although it is widely accepted that Caterhams in general and earlier one specifically are true Super 7s. Note the zeros in the stated VIN are added to fullfill Ebay requirements and not part of the actual VIN(CS34249MKRM). The interior carpeting is very good and original. The bench seats have no tears and have worn well. It has a heater. It has a Ford rear end(solid axle, not De Dion) with an uprated and strengthened spherical bearing assembly on the lower A frame. It has a top in fair condition with hood sticks, but no doors(side screens). |

Lotus announces Exige V6 Cup racer
Mon, 20 Aug 2012The Lotus Exige is once of the most focused race cars that you can purchase on the market today, but for those individuals who desire to track the mid-engined racer, Lotus has released its latest no-frills, all-go racecar: the Exige V6 Cup.
The Exige Cup features a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 making 346 horsepower, enabling the 2,380-pound race car to get from zero to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds. Power is put to the road with the help of Lotus Dynamic Performance Management, which allows for Touring, Sport and Race settings for the engine.
The Exige V6 Cup also features revised aerodynamics in the front fascia and rear diffuser, and it rides on a fully adjustable suspension that reaches the road with special wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tires.
Caterham inks US distribution deal with Superformance
Fri, 03 Jan 2014Sort of like an automotive big box store, Superformance is rapidly becoming the destination for anyone interested in modern kit cars. Besides the normal spattering of Shelby Cobra replicars, Superformance also offers replicas of the GT40 and Corvette Grand Sport. Now, we can add an altogether different type of DIY car to the company's portfolio - Caterham.
Superformance has just been announced as the new US distributor for Caterham Cars, effectively adding the entire suite of Lotus variants to the company's catalog. While there will be a large variety of models available, according to Caterham the mix will skew toward more powerful offerings. As much as we like the affordable appeal of a Seven 160 or Roadsport, simply having the wildly powerful 620 R or Superlight R500 available in the US is a good thing for enthusiasts.
"In the last two years, Caterham has significantly broadened its reach internationally and signing a new official distributor in the form of Superformance in America is a natural extension of how our brand is expanding, rapidly, across the globe," Caterham Group CEO Graham Macdonald said. Lotus and Aston Martin to hook up?
Tue, 30 Oct 2012This has been a tumultuous year for Lotus - to say the least - from the company being sold off back in January to its CEO Dany Bahar being fired in June to its questionable financial status and rumors of the British automaker being sold off to another automaker. First, we heard that Volkswagen was interested in acquiring Lotus and parent company Proton, a rumor that was later dismissed. Now Automobile is reporting that fellow Brit Aston Martin could be in the market to work with or possibly even merge with Lotus.
While this is pure speculation at this point, such a venture could prove to be beneficial for both independent companies. That's because with Lotus focused on lightweight, relatively affordable sports cars and Aston Martin producing high-end performance cars, there is virtually no product overlap between the companies. The article suggests that a person or company wanting to merge these two automakers would have to raise between $1.1 billion and $1.6 billion in order to make a go of it, however.
We're not sure what to think of this latest rumor, but anything that can help get the struggling brand back to health at least has our interest.
