1987 Honda Civic Crx on 2040-cars

Year:1987 Mileage:103000
Location:

Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, United States

Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, United States

This auction is for a nice unmolested First Generation Honda CRX Hatchback with 103,000 documented miles on the Certificate of Title. Everything works on this CRX with the exception of the Factory Cassette Player. The vehicle was purchased several weeks ago for my 18 year old daughter to travel back and forth to college. At which time it was totally gone over by my mechanic to assure a safe and dependable vehicle, thus completing the Pennsylvania State Inspection along with Federal Emission. The vehicle is currently registered and on the road and has no known issues or problems after being driven over 700 miles. I decided to buy her a new Mazda6 for safety reasons, i.e. air bags, bigger car and comfort reasons so I don't need this CRX sitting around. It should be on the road and enjoyed by someone.

This is a very nice and solid car that retains all the factory original body parts. The front upper grill valance, which is plastic, has a crack. This was a factory issue on all the CRX’s of this year.  I have incorporated a picture depicting the damage.

This CRX is in great shape for being a 27+ year old vehicle. This CRX Honda runs, drives, shifts and stops as it was designed from the factory.  It’s very dependable / reliable and a blast of fun to drive. The car shows well and is structurally sound with no major body rot. The passenger side has a little bubbling at the rear wheel well and I have incorporated a picture showing same. The underside; floors, rockers, trunk, frame rails are rust / rot free and appear to be in perfect condition. The bottoms of the doors are also in good shape.

This CRX is powered by the factory original 1500 engine with a 3 barrel carburetor and even the choke still works.   The transmission is a automatic trans that shifts without hesitation as designed by the manufacturer.

The CRX body is straight, but does have some scratches and chips, but shows well for its age and still shine. The Michelin tires are in good shape and mounted on the factory original rims with factory hub caps.

The interior is also in amazing condition and original for being 27+ years old. The only item that needs to be replaced or repaired is the driver seat, which has come unsewn at the seam / fabric is worn. The dash is also in excellent shape with the radio opening not modified, due to still retaining the original AM/FM Radio.

This CRX has factory Air Conditioning that blows cold. Most CRX’s did not come with AC, so it’s a rare option for the 1987 model year.

I’m sure that I may have missed something but I have honestly and accurately described this Little Honda. If you have any questions or specific picture requests please contact me through Ebay or at (484) 753-1371……..Dave.

The winning bidder will not be disappointed with the car or its condition. This vehicle is available for inspection or to be researched prior to the auction ending. I strongly encourage and recommended this to better aid you in bidding with confidence.

A non- refundable $500.00 deposit is required within 24 hrs after the auction has ended with the remaining balance paid at the time of taking possession of the vehicle. Buyer is responsible for making arrangements for shipping if applicable.  I reserve the right to end the auction at any time for the vehicle is also being offered for sale locally.

Honda issues second Fit window recall, this time for 143k units

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

Honda has announced it is recalling certain 2007-2008 Fit models in the US to fix what could have been faulty repairs made in a previous round of recalls. The vehicles may have been manufactured with a master driver's window switch that could allow rain water or spilled liquids into the switch. If that happens, the liquids could cause the switch to overheat, melt and potentially damage the vehicle's wiring or cause a fire. Honda says no accidents or injuries have been reported due to the problem, but warns owners to park their Fit hatchbacks outside until a dealer can inspect the switch.
All told, the recall covers 143,083 Fit units. Back in 2010, Honda recalled the 2002-2008 model-year Fit for the same issue. That recall covered some 646,000 units worldwide after a two-year-old child in Cape Town, South Africa burnt to death while sleeping in a Fit. Honda says the repair made during that round of recalls may not have been sufficient, and the latest fix should take care of the problem for good.
You can read the full press release on the latest round of recalls below for more information.

Watch this LSR Honda Insight crash at 190 mph in the desert

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

Like any form of motorsports, attempts at breaking land speed records are inherently dangerous. To wit: During a recent speed competition at El Mirage dry lake beds in southern California, racer Brian Gillespie and his first-gen Honda Insight crashed at nearly 190 miles per hour, and it was all caught on video.
According to the Southern California Timing Association website, which hosts the event, the weather was good and there was no wind on November 10, so it isn't clear what may have caused the crash. Despite the car being destroyed (including the entire front end being sheared off), Gillespie suffered only "minor injuries" and is recovering. The SCTA site does state that Gillespie managed to crack the 200-mile-per-hour mark in a previous run with a top speed of 200.9 mph, so congratulations to him on that! Scroll down to watch the horrifying crash.

Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.
