1953 Buick Skylark 53 Original Paint!!! 322 V8 Convertible Harley Earl Designed on 2040-cars
Black Hawk, Colorado, United States
It is breaking my heart writing up this ad, but I have to liquidate some of the collection to fund a land speed pursuit. I am offering for sale my 1953 Buick Skylark. This Skylark is a very original solid driver and a beauty. It does have some imperfections but I call it character. The exterior paint has great patina with some eggshell cracking, dings and scratches in the over 60 year old paint. I have been told by a few different Concours D'Elegance judges the interior was not original but the exterior paint is. Its nice to get the original paint bonus points at the high-end car shows. The Skylark has earned several blue ribbons. The leather seats are in overall good condition but there are a few seam splits in the seat bottom. The gauges work. The drive train is solid and original. There are a few gasket leaks. The tires have less that 100 miles on them, they are Diamondback Classic wide whitewalls. The hydraulic top, seats and windows all worked before draining the system. The body is straight and rust free, spent most of its life in Nevada. The Skylark comes with a ton of original memorabilia and even the original owners manual. Again very original and solid blue chip investment grade 53 Skylark. I need at least 50K cash and will barter on the balance. I would have a especial interest in a C2 vette, 308, 328, 355, Knuckle or Panhead, jet engines, indian 4 or ??? Todays NADA value

Buick dusting off Grand National, GNX and T-Type nameplates
Mon, 26 Nov 2012Inside Line reports Buick is planning to bring back some of the more storied names from the company's past, including the Grand National, GNX and the T-Type. Those cars rose to prominence in the 1970s and '80s to become performance legends of their day.
The new models will reportedly make use of the rear-wheel drive platform that currently underpins the Cadillac ATS and all would arrive as sedans - according to an unnamed source familiar with the initiative. Odds are the T-Type and the Grand National would share a driveline, with honest money being on a new twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 as the engine of choice. Word has it the mill will be good for anywhere from 350 to 400 horsepower.
That leaves only the GNX. Inside Line seems to think that machine could get down the road with some help from the all-new GM LT1 small-block V8. The engineers behind the ATS platform have already told us the engine bay is large enough for to accommodate the big eight pot, and since GM is most certainly working on an ATS-V, a slightly less powerful, less luxurious Buick iteration makes some kind of sense. We can't wait to see these things in the light of day.
GM recalling 2013 Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac SRX over transmission software
Thu, 21 Mar 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued recalls for the 2013 Buick LaCrosse and 2013 Cadillac SRX due to a problem with the software for the transmission controller. On about 27,000 SRX and LaCrosse models, the transmission could accidentally be shifted to Sport mode, which would reduce the amount of engine braking drivers experience.
NHTSA says this could increase the risk of a crash, but, fortunately, the required fix is simply an update to the software.
While we're on the subject of General Motors vehicle recalls, a small number (48) of compressed natural gas versions of the 2011 Chevrolet Express are also being recalled for a potential risk of fire or explosion. Yikes. Both official recall notices are posted below.
GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC
Sun, 06 Oct 2013American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.
