1974 Volkswagen Thing Very Original Condition No Repaint, Nr on 2040-cars
Mahwah, New Jersey, United States
1974 Volkswagen Thing. This car is in extremely original condition. Paint is original (bumpers were refinished many years ago). There are many blemishes and dings in the body but no rust to speak of. Please examine the pictures. I have tried to give as much detail as possible. Very small hole, near drain hole under battery, see pictures. I've had the car for 10 years and when I got it I painted underneath of the floorpan with Por 15 to preserve it since it was in such good original condition, which is very rare in the northeast. The top is good and so are all the side curtains. The seat were recovered before I got it. The exterior has dealer installed hightlight stripes which were an option. Also has a factory roll bar. The tires are almost new. In runs good and the brakes were gone over not too long ago. It would be very hard to find another Thing in this original condition, especially in the northeast. Any questions please contact me for more info or pictures. Better yet call me at 201 327 7621 to make an appointment to examine and test drive. Car is located in northern New Jersey. I can deliver the car in a radius of 300 miles @ $2.00 a mile plus tolls. Also I can store the car up to 30 days, provided it's paid for. Better yet come and drive it home. Car is sold as is, where is. All payments must be completed before the car is released. |

Editors' Choice: Top Five 2013 Geneva Motor Show Debuts
Fri, 08 Mar 2013We've returned from a very busy week in Switzerland, and in going back over all of our 75 stories from the Geneva Motor Show, our editors have gathered up their personal favorite debuts from the European expo.
The wonderful thing about the Geneva show is just how wide of an array of vehicles are on display - everything from funny little one-off EVs to the most exotic of supercars to, well, truly ridiculous displays of coachbuilding. And because of that, this list of our editors' favorites might not be as predictable as you think.
But we don't want to give anything away just yet. Scroll down to have a look at our team's favorites from Geneva.
Anti-union group files lawsuit against VW and UAW
Fri, 14 Mar 2014The fight for unionization at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN, factory isn't letting up. Yesterday, the National Labor Relations Board decided to allow anti-United Auto Workers employees at the plant the right to defend voting down the measure. Now, a group called the National Right to Work Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of five workers against VW and the UAW for allegedly working together to organize.
The group says in a release that it wants "to block further collusion between the company and the United Auto Workers." It alleges that VW forced workers to attend "mandatory pro-union meetings" and prevented managers from opposing. In a rebuttal on its website, the UAW called the claims "baseless" and said its actions were entirely legal.
One possible problem faces the carmaker in regards to the lawsuit. According to the Detroit Free Press, a recent US Court of Appeals ruling found that neutrality agreements like the one the business had with the UAW could be illegal if the company provided "things of value" to the union. The newspaper also claims that VW held a mandatory employee meeting concerning the election, but workers were free to leave during the UAW's presentation.
North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014
Sun, 23 Dec 2012Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time. You can head over to the Wards Auto site for the full report.
