I am selling my Jetta because I now have a company provided car and don't drive the Jetta much anymore. As a sales professional, I purchased her new in February 2011 from Tom Wood VW in Indianapolis. I travel the state of Indiana on business and 90% of the miles are highway. Tom Wood VW has performed all the scheduled maintenance, always on schedule. The dealership always comments on how good my Jetta looks and how well I take care of it. This car is exceptionally clean. Used almost exclusively for business purposes, the exterior and interior show little to no wear. Weekly to twice weekly car washes at Mike's Express Car Wash with clearcoat and underbody spray. Here are some of the highlights: Exterior Color: Reflex Silver Metallic Interior Color: Titan Black Leatherette 2.0L 140HP, 236 Ft Lbs Torque 4cyl TDI Clean Diesel Engine Anti-Lock Brakes Traction Control Electronic Stability Control 16" Alloy Wheels with all season tires Power sliding/tilting sunroof Premium touchscreen radio with 6 CD changer Bluetooth mobile telephone connectivity Sirius satellite radio Media Device Interface with iPod Cable 6 speaker sound system Multifunction trip computer Heated front seats Air Conditioning Cruise Control Power heated side view mirrors with turn signal indicator Theft deterrent system 6-speed Automatic Transmission Car-Go trunk protection system Factory rear lip spoiler Rubber TDI floor mats (I have the original carpeted, never used) She's never been in an accident or been touched by another car. Paint is glossy and waxed frequently. I have all the maintenance records, all the booklets and stickers that came with the car when new. A very fun, comfortable car to drive. The EPA Fuel Economy Estimates on this car are 30MPG City and 42MPG Highway. My mileage has been closer to 35 City and 48-50 Highway. Thank you for your interest and I look forward to hearing from you.

UAW tactics called into question at VW's TN plant

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

The United Auto Workers is in hot water with some of the very workers it is trying to unionize at Volkswagen's Chattanooga assembly plant. According to The Tennessean, eight Volkswagen factory workers have filed complaints against the UAW with the National Labor Relations Board, claiming the union "misled or coerced" them into formally asking for union representation.
The UAW has instituted a major push at the Chattanooga plant to represent the 2,500 hourly laborers that build the VW Passat by using what's called a card-check process. The tactic is opposed by the National Right to Work Legal Defense foundation, the group representing the workers. The card-check process demands that a company recognize a union that obtains the signatures of more than half its workforce, according to The Tennessean. This tactic is in contrast to the more traditional route, which sees employees vote on union representation.
The workers filing the complaint claim that the UAW told them the cards merely called for a secret ballot, rather than an outright demand for union representation. Workers also allege that the UAW has made it overly difficult to reclaim their signed cards, some of which were signed so long ago that they have been rendered invalid. Although the cards can force a company's hand, federal law still allows the company to ask for a secret ballot before yielding to unionized workers.

2014 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible gets the R-Line treatment

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

Volkswagen just launched the topless Beetle Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, but we're already seeing the next step forward in the topless Bug range with this, the R-Line. We'll admit, this treatment falls under the "all show and no go" category, but it's still a pretty potent little cutie.
The R-Line starts with a standard Beetle Turbo Convertible but adds unique 19-inch aluminum wheels on lower-profile tires, LED daytime running lamps and Xenon headlamps. Naturally, there are R-Line badges aplenty both on the interior and exterior, and we must say, the whole package looks pretty darn snazzy.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but when it goes on sale later this year, the hotter convertible will join Volkswagen's growing R-Line portfolio that now includes the CC, Beetle hatch, Tiguan and Touareg.

Volkswagen lays off 500 Chattanooga workers

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

The redesigned Volkswagen Passat has been a decent seller since its debut in 2011, but sales have apparently dropped off enough that the automaker is trimming some of the employees from its Chattanooga, TN assembly plant. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen will be cutting shifts and laying off 500 contracted workers in response to slowing sales.
Currently, the plant has three teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Saturday, but starting May 13, this will be reduced down to two teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday. This will be done to reduce dealer inventory (the article says that VW dealers, on average, have a 97-day supply of Passats) and production capacity (currently running at an annual pace of 170,000 units, which is more than the 150,000 annual units the plant was planned to produce).
This, of course, isn't saying that the Passat has been a failure since VW added 200 full-time employees to the plant in February 2012 to keep up with increased demand. The AN article says that automakers frequently overstaff plants during the launch of a new product - or in this case, a new product and a new plant - but eventually reduce the workers as things run smoother and more efficiently.
