**I AM POP SINGER TAYLOR DAYNE, AND I AM SELLING MY CLASSIC 1977 VW POP UP CAMPER BUS SLEEPER!** She's an automatic which is very rare and it had an add-on AC unit that I took out years ago - but of course it can be reinstalled. This baby has a great story behind her... When I first moved to LA in 1998 I lived up in the Laurel Canyon area of the hills & was immediately thrown into the hippie time warp of LA. My first TV job was on a short lived series called "Nightman," shot in the San Diego area. My then boyfriend came to visit & I gave him my week's per diem to go out & find a VW bus of my dreams to camp in & have fun as a new NY transport living in LA. In a local paper, he located this sweet 1977 VW beauty that I have now had for the last 15 years, & lovingly named Adele - after the movie Kalifornia. Adele was bought from the ORIGINAL owner, who had had it for 20 years, where it sat in the backyard unused for the prior 10 years, as the original owner couldn't bear to part with it after her husband's death. But she finally felt it was the right time to say goodbye when I came along. I have had & cherished this van lovingly ever since and have had many road and camping trips in it with friends. At this point, I haven't been using Adele the way she needs, & I feel it's time to pass along the torch! *Vintage 1977 Pop-Up Camper Bus Sleeper *Nice AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - very rare!! *Runs Excellent *Original Upholstery & Curtains *Original Engine, Re-Built *Ice-box Refrigerator *Seats 4-5 People *Add on AC unit (potential to hook back up is there) *Bought from original owner, who had it sitting in the driveway unused for 10 years *Being sold by SECOND OWNER who has had it since 1998, and haven't even put 9,000 miles on it since *Comes with Original Owners Manual *Being sold as is *I will gladly sign the Original Owners Manual - Or anywhere on the van the winning buyer would like if you so desire! **Please email my Assistant at SellAssistant7@gmail.com if you are interested**Local [LA] pick up preferred, or buyer pays & arranges shipping** To See other Items being sold by Seller Taylor Dayne please visit: http://www.taylordayne.com/auction.php |

VW budget sub-brand stuck in limbo over VW standards, costs
Sat, 01 Mar 2014Reports in October 2012 claimed Volkswagen had begun investigating the creation of its own budget brand. This came after having failed to purchase Malaysian car company Proton or produce a meaningful partnership with Suzuki, and after watching Renault-Nissan make piles of euro on Dacia and plot the return of Datsun.
For VW, more important than the question of what to call it was how to build it profitably and in a way that didn't damage the VW brand. According to a report in Autocar, a satisfactory answer still hasn't been found. The hurdle is how to hit "'necessary' quality and safety levels" at the price points needed to make the venture worthwhile. At the time of the 2012 report, German outlet Der Spiegel said VW was trying to get prices down to 6,000 to 8,000 euro ($7,784 to $10,379 US), about two thousand to four thousand euro under the price of the VW Up and in line with the cost of a 6,790-euro Dacia Sandero in Germany.
In March 2013, VW announced, "We want to bring a true budget car to the market in China in the foreseeable future," the most concrete move in that direction after years of planning to make a decision. Working with local Chinese maker FAW, it was predicted that the vehicle in question would appear around 2016, but as of November last year a final vote on it needed to wait until this year because "We are still working on the cost side" and profit possibilities for a car that "has to be durable, it has to be precise, it has to be safe."
Help a couple drive their 1984 Vanagon around the world
Mon, 22 Apr 2013Meet Brad, Sheena and Nacho
Driving through China is a pricey proposition. The couple will need to pony up a staggering $19,514 just to cover the fees.
Brad and Sheena Van Orden are in the midst of a life-defining campaign to travel around the world, and they're doing it in a 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon custom built for the occasion. The past 15 months have seen the couple quit their jobs with Gore-Tex and drive from Arizona to the very southern tip of Argentina after spending a full two years saving and preparing for the trek. Now they're in southern Asia gearing up for the next leg of their journey.
Volkswagen Cross Up! aimed at rugged lifestyle folks, complete with plastic cladding
Wed, 06 Mar 2013If you thought there was nothing wrong with the Volkswagen Up! that a little body cladding wouldn't fix, you're in luck. VW has officially pulled the wraps off the production version of the Cross Up!, and its wheel arches and rocker panels are full of the black plastic cladding you've been yearning for.
In addition to the "particularly rugged design and tough, lifestyle qualities" that the cladding exudes, VeeDub has also seen fit to put its Cross Up! on a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels clad in 185/50-series tires. Inside, there are new kick plates to go along with a dash pad that can be had in red, black or silver.
All that cladding must equal additional off-road readiness, right? Well, sure... just so long as you're fine with the same 75-horsepower three-cylinder engine that all other Up! models also feature, along with a five-speed manual transmission sending power to the front wheels, again, just like all other Up! models. The Cross Up! appears to have a taller ride height than other models, but we haven't been able to find out what - if any - changes have been made.
