Original Sealing Wax Red 1961 Volkswagen Single Cab Split Window Bus

Here we have for sale a very clean, original 1961 bullet turn signal, Sealing Wax Red, Volkswagen split window single cab bus. This is a single cab that you do not see ever, an early bullet turn signal, dual treasure chest, SWR single cab in wonderful original condition. Finding an original single cab with dual treasure chests are very rare. The paint is all original and still looks amazing for its age. The Sealing Wax Red is one of the most desirable colors to find in early split window buses but to find one with original Sealing Wax Red is almost impossible to find now a days. They have all been repainted over the years. The paint has natural rub-through and looks awesome. It has the perfect older look!! Just check out how perfect the paint is on the interior and on the dash! The exterior has some dings and scratches in it as you would expect from a single cab that has its original untouched paint on it. This is a solid as a rock VW that has practically zero rust on the entire truck. There is only one tiny little bit of rust through on the back corner by the engine lid, see picture. You can't even hardly see it, it's so small of an area. The driver side rocker has teeny tiny little bubbles in it. It very very minor. The rockers on both sides are straight as an arrow and are amazing to see in such wonderful straight condition. The front skin is very nice and has no rust on it. The front emblem is original painted and looks great too. The original gates are in great original condition. The bumpers all all original and correct for this year of truck. The headlights are very very nice and the chrome looks very shiny. The original Hella glass is very nice. The glass has all new rubber installed in them. I had a professional windshield shop in town remove, replace and reinstall the windows. The glued the new Wolfsburg West seals in so they will not leak. The wing windows has all new rubber on them. The doors have fairly new rubber on them too. The wheels have been powder coated white and I had brand new 1" whitewalls installed and balanced on the rims. The hubcaps are powder coated the exact original color for Volkswagen transporters from the 1960's. The entire brake system has been gone through and have had the parts either refurbished or replaced. The drivetrain was removed and the original transaxle was rebuilt and gone through by Rancho. The rear shocks were replaced too. The engine was replaced with a brand new 1600cc dual port engine. The engine itself has new cases, as you can see there are no numbers on it. Everything else is new on it too like the intake, carburetor, generator and more. I had a rebuilt Bosch 019 distributor installed too. This is the most flawless running Volkswagen I have ever owner or driven. Its amazing the performance gains and smoothness that the 019 distributor gives the Volkswagen. It now has awesome power and reliability that you can trust to take long drives in. The engine just had the valves adjusted and special air cooled oil was used when replaced. It is ready to drive wherever you want. Jump in and drive home. The interior is beautiful and looks exactly how it would of came from Germany in 1961. The seat is the original rare humpback bench seat that was reupholstered with the top of the line original style material that matches perfectly with original material. I paid over $500 just for the material and had a professional upholsterer install and stretch the material over the new seat padding. The door panels are exact duplicates of original door panels that you would of seen in new Volkswagen that came from the factory in 1961. The door pockets are exact copies of the originals. The color is exact color that what the originals would of come with. Again, I paid almost $500 just for the door panels and front kick panels. I spared no expense when it came to keeping the single cabs' interior as looking original as possible. The original floor mat is very nice and not worn out. The headliner is the original, yes original headliner that came in the truck from the factory. The center of the headliner has dipped down a tiny bit. But all of the original headliner hold down strips and mounting screws are intact. The original sun visor is intact and in great original condition. The dash is just beautiful on the truck. The paint is in stunning original condition. The original thin lip parcel tray is very nice and the original paint is in fantastic original condition. The radio is not hooked up. This is one of the nicest driving Volkswagen buses I have ever driven. The steering is nice and tight and the suspension is plush. The front suspension has not been messed with or altered. The front floors are solid and have no rust through on them, just surface. The dual treasure chests are very unique and the floor is very nice. The treasure chest has all of its original grey paint. The truck bed floor is nice too but it has chipped and flaking paint in it. The bed floor has no rust through either. The rear gate latches have been relocated by the previous original owner. Overall this is an awesome original 1961 Volkswagen Split Window single cab with original Sealing Wax Red paint. I welcome all overseas bidders. I will help with coordinating shipping and assisting with loading the VW for shipping too. I can store the single cab for a month while shipping arrangement are being made. I have shipping connections with a shipper who can deliver the single cab anywhere in Southern California. He is a personal friend of mine and takes extra special care of anything he ships for me. Please ask any and all questions that you might have before bidding on the bus. My phone number is 775-830-6760. Thanks for looking!

VW announces recall of 26,000 2014 models with 1.8T engines

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

Volkswagen has followed up on a stop-sale order from earlier this month, announcing a voluntarily recall of 26,400 vehicles that are powered by the brand's 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new mill replaced the despised 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Beetle Convertible last year. Weirdly, though, of the 26,452 units covered in the recall, only 1,655 are customer vehicles.
According to VW, the affected models were built between February 1 and April 6 of this year, and feature bad O-ring seals in the transmission oil cooler. Apparently, the faulty O-rings could cause a fluid leak, as they won't seal between the oil cooler and transmission. VW is blaming a material change from a supplier for the problem.
There have been no fires, injuries, accidents or fatalities relating to this issue, which VW will be fixing free of charge. Customers will need to report to dealers to have the O-rings replaced.

VW readying new VR6 with forced induction

Fri, 27 Sep 2013

Volkswagen built a stonking, narrow-angle V6 in the 1980s and 1990s that was found in three different generations of the Golf (their performance iterations, obviously), three generations of the Passat, the New Beetle, the Corrado and the Touareg, among other VWs, a spate of Audis, Seats, a Skoda, and even the Porsche Cayenne. It was a sad day when it was announced that it'd be put out to pasture.
Rejoice, though, fans of the venerable VR6, because Volkswagen has a new, modern variant in the works that, according to AutoWeek, features direct injection and can easily be fitted with forced induction. In fact, AW mentions Volkswagen insiders that claim this unit will spawn a production version of the twin-turbo V6 shown on the Design Vision GTI from this year's Wörthersee festival. That unit produced an epic 503 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque.
Don't expect a production unit with that level of power (although it would make a hardy RS4 powerplant), though. In reality, AutoWeek is suspecting anywhere from 340 to 450 horsepower from the new mill. When it arrives at an undisclosed date in the future, it'll likely be found in the Passat and Passat CC as well as the production version of the CrossBlue.

EU formally questions French government assistance of Peugeot's finance arm

Fri, 28 Dec 2012

Recently, the finance arm of PSA/Peugeot-Citroën was in such debt trouble that it was pricing itself out of the car loan market. The rates it was paying to service its debt, which was rated one step above junk, were so high that it was forced to charge car-buying customers higher rates than they could find elsewhere. This was adding to Peugeot's already impressive woes by sending revenue out the door to competitors.
Two months ago a deal was worked out with the French government whereby the state would provide 7 billion euro ($9 billion USD) in bonds to guarantee the finance arm's loans. The French government could nominate someone to join the Peugeot board, Peugeot would guarantee more French jobs, and on top of that deal, other banks would provide non-guaranteed loans. The government would take no equity stake in the car company.
Although not yet finalized, the arrangement is meant to create some breathing room for Peugeot Finance to lower its interest rates for customers, and a government-nominated board member, Louis Gallois, was recently named to Peugeot's supervisory board. The arrangement was also openly questioned by at least three competitors: Ford, Renault - which is 15-percent owned by the French government after it received state aid - and the German state of Lower Saxony, itself a 15-percent shareholder in Volkswagen.
