I am selling my 1990 VW Westfalia Weekender Camper. This is a  rust-free original van that was sold new here in Oklahoma City and loved and cared for ever since.  Always garaged.  The van is completely original spec with a 4-speed standard transmission with cruise control,  A/C, and all original parts and accessories there and accounted for.

Although we started with a perfect rust free original Van, A few years ago, we completely went through and restored every system that needed any work and fixed anything and everything that did not work.  Very few Vans out there are as well taken care of and redone to this condition.  Some of things done include a complete repaint in the original color which was very well done, and remains in great shape.  Comeplete dismantling and cleaning of the original interior including carpets and seats and replacement of anything that was needing redone.  This includee many small parts as well as large items, such as the entire dash.    Mechanically it was completely serviced with any item needing attention taken care of.  This includes shocks, suspension, CV joints, new Goodyear tires, brakes, clutch etc.  Subsequently it runs and drives just like it should.

Other features include:
- Power windows
- Power mirrors
- Air Conditioning
- Alpine Stereo
-Pop up Camper top with upper level bed
-Zip out window in canvas section of pop top
-Clear crank up skylight in pop top
-Fold out table
-Removable center section rear facing seats, that also fold up
-Rear folding bench into a bed
-Full Curtains
-Rear storage cabinets

This VW Westfalia Camper has been all over the USA, but has been owned and expertly maintained by a retired factory trained BMW & Rolls Royce/Bentley tech who kept it in tip top shape.

This Westfalia was literally garaged through all of its life and was serviced at the local VW dealership on a regular basis. What is remarkable about this van is how original and pristine it is still to this day after 20+ years.

This Westfalia Full Camper Van is in excellent condition inside and out and well worth the investment; an investment that will only increase in value over time.
Very few vehicles hold their value and increase in value over the years.  The VW Westfalia continues to be one of these especially since nothing like it is available new today.  Its a modern classic.

Terms:  Buyer to pay shipping (although I have a good connection as an example $650 To Southern CA)  Sold as is where is of course.  Buyer must pay within 7 days of auction end.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Porsche again staring down another $1.8B in hedge fund lawsuits

Wed, 15 May 2013

The sequence of events from 2007 that began with Porsche's secret attempt to take over Volkswagen, and instead lead to Porsche being taken over by VW, continues to instigate lawsuits against the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer. A group of hedge funds that suffered over $1 billion in losses sued the car company in New York. Porsche had publicly stated it wasn't trying to buy VW, the hedge funds in question were shorting VW stock, and when Porsche's actual intentions were revealed, the stock shot up and the hedge funds took a beating.
The case was thrown out over the issue of jurisdiction, then appealed, only to see another suit filed on top of that. After that, most of the hedge funds withdrew their claims in New York and Porsche offered a 90-day window to refile in Germany where it is already fighting a number of other suits over the same issue. The hedge funds accepted the offer, refiling in Stuttgart for $1.8 billion in damages. According to Bloomberg, Porsche hasn't commented on the refiling, but as the same plaintiffs are involved, it's safe to assume that the carmaker still feels the case is "unsubstantiated and without merit." It has fared alright so far even in German courts, with two lesser cases against it thrown out last year.

Prop-driven VW Beetle hopes to land in Bonneville [w/video]

Thu, 10 Jan 2013

Sometimes you meet folks who, when they tell you "Hey, I have an idea," your reflex response is to stop what you're doing and tell yourself, "Get ready...." We imagine Mike Niemans is one of those folks, and the idea in question is putting a tank engine on a Type 1 Volkswagen Beetle. Not just any old tank engine - as if there were such a thing when we're talking about putting them in cars - but a 668-cubic-inch, 220-horsepower radial engine built by Continental in 1941 and procured from an M2 tank.
In the image above Nieman is using the tank clutch hub to get the motor set up, but in one of the images below you can see what really belongs back there is: a two-inch, reverse-pitch prop taken from a wind generator. He says there's enough mojo with the propeller action to get the car rolling down the runway like a jet when he gives it gas - and speaking of gas, the engine's been refitted to run on propane.
After a few safety tweaks Nieman's going to take the matte-black Beetle to Bonneville, "put the prop on, let her go and see what happens!" We can't wait to see the video of that. There are two shakedown videos below to get you ready.

2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring

Wed, 22 May 2013

The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.
