1972 Volkswagen Westphalia Camper Bus "camp Mobile" on 2040-cars

1972 Volkswagen Westphalia "Camp Mobile"
This is a one owner vehicle my father bought the vehicle back in 1972 in Lasalle, Quebec from LaSalle Volkswagen. After my parents moved to the States they later divorced and my father moved to San Diego California where he resided until his passing 2 years ago. I personally drove the 6 day drive back to Michigan with no problems at all. All items are original on the bus as my dad had it back when he owned it. Ive done nothing to it other than an oil change. The bus starts right up on the first crank. I would rate the paint on the car a 7 there are chips from driving and my father would put touch a paint on the chips. as for bondo there is "None" My dad babied his hippy bus and as explained it is still original paint. No bubbling blisters and no waves on the body. I'm sure some of you folks are going to ask what would need to be done.. Personally if you are looking to go camping and having fun with the family than nothing. For those of you who want a concourse vehicle i would repaint it, put a new canvas top on it and new rubber mat on the driver side that goes to the passenger side. As for the engine there are no leaks coming from underneath. and the transmission shifts great and smooth with amazing pick up from being 42 years old. I also forgot to mention there is a gas heater in back i would recommend to get it rebuilt something about gas and heat and me in the car scared the pants out of me but the heater is there intact. I also forgot to mention there was a dent on the passenger side from my wife backing out the car from the garage. Its nothing major but i have to be honest. Also the tires are new and new being 3 years old but no dry rot of that nature. If im forgetting anything I apologize just shoot me a question and I will answer it the best I can. I also can help in any way when it comes to shipping the vehicle. Thank you for looking and happy bidding |

VW confirms new TDI for second half of 2014 in Golf, Jetta, Passat and Beetle
Tue, 18 Mar 2014Diesel lovers rejoice. Volkswagen is bringing the latest iteration of its 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine - dubbed the EA288 - to the 2015 model year Golf, Jetta, Passat, Beetle (2013 model pictured above) and Beetle Convertible, and the cars will be on sale in the second half of 2014.
While it shares its moniker with the old diesel, the new engine produces 150 horsepower, a 10-hp boost, and 236 pound-feet of torque. VW promises improved fuel economy as well, but it hasn't announced specifically what amount yet. The company claims that despite the same displacement, only the bore spacing is shared with the previous version. The mill includes new features like exhaust gas recirculation, an intercooler integrated into the intake manifold and low-friction camshaft bearings.
VW Group of America has had great success with diesels in the US recently. Vee-Dub and Audi sold 105,899 diesel-equipped models in 2013. It was the first time the group ever sold over 100,000 diesels in a year, and they accounted for 24 percent of sales. Scroll down to read the full press release about the announcement.
VW recalls 1.1M Jetta, Beetle models in US, China over suspension fears
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Volkswagen is recalling about 1.1 million vehicles in China and North America in a newly announced campaign affecting the rear suspensions on some models. For the US, the action covers about 442,265 vehicles, including 400,602 examples of its 2011-2013 Jetta and 41,663 units of the 2012-2013 Beetle and Beetle Convertible. According to Reuters, the recall affects a further 126,000 vehicles in Canada and about 581,090 in China, including related market-specific models like the Sagitar.
The problem can occur if the affected models have a collision to the rear or the side-rear of the vehicle. It's then possible for the trailing arms on the torsion-beam rear suspension to be damaged. If the harm isn't noticed, then the part could fracture while driving. Obviously, a broken rear suspension is going to have an adverse effect on handling.
To fix things, VW dealers will inspect the trailing arms on the models, and they will all receive a sheetmetal part that will make a distinctive sound if broken in the future. If already damaged, the entire torsion beam will be replaced. Obviously, this work will be done at no charge to owners.
Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki
Tue, 02 Oct 2012Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.
