You are bidding on a totally restored 1969 VW Beetle that has been totally redone from the ground up in 2012.  I searched for two years to find the best 1969 Beetle Convertible for my wife. This has always been her dream car. I bought this beautiful Beetle in March of 2013 from a VW collector that had just completed the restoration.  He restored this original car using all new parts and no body filler. Floors and running boards are 100% solid.  The car has almost everything new. All the chrome, body panels, rubber gaskets, lenses, lights, carpet, door panels were replaced.  The top is new and the engine was rebuilt with new exhaust.  The car looks and drives perfect.  The interior is real nice.  I haven’t been able to find a flaw in the paint. This is the nicest Beetle I saw for sale in over two years of searching.  My wife drove it a few times last summer and it has been garage kept since we owned. It drives perfectly, starts every time and is fun to drive especially with the top down.  My wife is bitten with the classic car bug now and wants to move into muscle cars. I am not looking for trades; I bought her a 1969 Camaro Convertible last week.  So it is now time for this one to find a new home.

The only two minor flaws I see with the car are a missing light on the dash and a rip in the headliner to the top.  I pictured both and have extra material to fix head liner.  The convertible is perfect and was installed in 2012 simple seam tear in headliner.

I have done the best I can to describe the car the best I can. I encourage you to look at the car in person before auction end. The car is located in the Philadelphia Suburbs.  I have been collecting classic cars for over thirty years and this is one of the nicest cars I have ever owned.  I am sure you will see for yourself how nice the car is.

Thanks for Looking and Good Luck!

Former Porsche CEO Wiedeking indicted over VW takeover bid

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

Do you recall the failed efforts by Porsche to take over Volkswagen? According to a Bloomberg report, former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above) and ex-CFO Holger Haerter have finally been charged with market manipulation over the exercising of options as part of the German sportscar manufacturer's ill-fated attempt to take over the much larger VW. That failed bid eventually resulted in the reverse coming true - VW swallowing Porsche.
The charges leveled by Stuttgart prosecutors come after a three-year investigation centered around allegations that Porsche execs made a concerted effort to increase the company's share in VW to 75 percent in preparation for a hostile takeover. Porsche had previously told its investors on at least five occasions that it had no intention to buy VW.
Portions of the investigation have subsided, according to prosecutors, citing an inability to prove certain improprieties with a "necessary degree of certainty." The number of charges is down to 5 from a previous 14 counts regarding "information-based market manipulation."

Car companies may need to start curbing model proliferation

Mon, 17 Nov 2014

Looking at the current automotive landscape, especially from German makers, you quickly get the impression that less definitely isn't more. BMW alone offers its 3 Series platform in practically every segment possible, including the regular sedan and 4 Series Gran Coupe, which would seem to be direct competitors. Porsche might be the winner, though, with 20 different variants of the 911 listed for sale on its US website. However, some of this model madness might be reaching an end as companies begin cutting back spending or shifting money to other priorities.
According to Yahoo Finance, the offerings from the German automakers are up 25 percent over the past three years to over 200 models in Europe. The peak is expected to come around 2018 at 230 separate vehicles, according to consulting company PwC.
Amazingly, BMW, which is among the poster children for this model explosion, might be changing its tune. "I'm sure there will be points in the future where we look at certain cars and say, 'Maybe we need to think differently now,'" said head of sales Ian Robertson in an interview, according to Yahoo Finance. The statement certainly sounds shocking coming from a company rumored to have 23 front-wheel-drive vehicles all using a single platform on the way.

Next Volkswagen Golf R to get 286 horsepower?

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't launched in the United States just yet, but we're already setting our sights on the range-topping R model. According to Autocar, the next Golf R will be more powerful than the current version, producing 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful production Golf ever.
Powering the new Golf R will be a further evolution of Volkswagen's well-liked 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, and when mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, the hotter hatch will reportedly be able to sprint to 62 miles per hour in five seconds flat. That's over half a second quicker than the current US-spec model.
Other updates for the new Golf R include the addition of VW's Haldex 5 all-wheel-drive system found in the latest iteration of 4Motion. Furthermore, thanks to the use of lightweight materials, the new R is expected to weigh in around 2,650 pounds - that's a massive 675 pounds less than the current US-spec car. The exhaust has reportedly been reworked to provide more aural delight, as well.
