This New Beetle was purchased from a VW dealership in December, 2011. At that time it had 33,902 miles on it and it's been used primarily for long distance country driving. It runs great and gets over 30 mpg. At present it has 49,204 miles. All four tires were replaced with new ones this past year. The back tires have less than 5500 miles on them. The pictures show how clean the car is and how well cared for. There is one very small ding in the door on the passenger side that doesn't show in the pictures. There is no rust. The windshield is in good condition. There are no stains or other marks on the upholstery or elsewhere inside the car. There hasn't been any mechanical trouble with the car. Everything works. Special Note: The vehilce History Report says there's been one accident when the car hit a power pole. This is NOT TRUE! The accident was with a deer. There'e been no collisions except that a deer ran into the right front fender. The fender and front bumper were replaced last spring because of the deer incident. There hasn't been any smokers in the car. It's owned by a senior driver who doesn't need the vehicle any longer. The "2009 New Beetle Model Year 2009 Owner's Manual", the "USA Warranty and Maintenance" booklet for the car, the "Sound System" manual, and "Your Owner's Literature" booklet are all included in the original cloth bound VW cover. More pictures are available upon request. Questions are welcomed. Winning bidder must leave a $500 down payment to Paypal within 72 hours. If paying by check, the check must be cleared through the bank before the new owner can take possession or the balance of the payment will be required in cash when the new owner takes possession. This must occur within two weeks from making their down payment. Pick-up/delivery arrangements will be negotiable. Present owner may be willing to deliver the car for a negotiated fee or buyer can arrange for pick up.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
VW agrees to halt next-gen rally car development to help others stay in WRC
Sat, 22 Jun 2013Volkswagen has petitioned the FIA to hold on to the current specifications for cars in the World Rally Championship, according to Autosport.com. The move is evidently an effort to keep as many competitors in the sport as possible, despite the fact that using the current spec racers may actually hurt Volkswagen's chances at winning. The three factory teams currently competing in the WRC are at the end of a three-year homologation cycle at the end of 2013, and new cars are expected to bow next year. But developing new racers could cost as much as $4.7 million.
That price tag would put M-Sport (which fields Ford racers) out of the WRC game for 2014 and would put Citroën participation in question as well. VW has already begun work on the next iteration of its Polo R WRC, and the hatch has nabbed four wins in six rounds this season. Now it appears that car won't bow until at least 2015. The FIA has officially agreed to freeze homologation of new WRC cars until the end of next season.
Volkswagen Golf Variant will make a lovely Jetta SportWagen
Tue, 05 Mar 2013In addition to several other versions of the Golf, Volkswagen is debuting the new Golf Variant (read: wagon) here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. And if this bigger version of the Golf looks like it might fit right at home in the States, it's because we could possibly see some version of this car as the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here on our shores.
Volkswagen is debuting the Golf Variant with two efficient diesel engines, rated at 110 and 150 horsepower, the smaller of which is good for an impressive 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle (when mated to a six-speed manual transmission). The Golf Variant also gets a version of Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, making it incredibly all-weather capable.
It's a handsome estate, and it wears the new Golf's design language well. We can't say for sure if this car will actually make its way Stateside, but given the fact that the current Jetta SportWagen still rides on the old Golf platform, the odds look to be in our favor.
