This is a 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle Karmann in good shape. Recent work done to this vehicle include: rebuilt carburetor, new coil, new spark plug wires, new spark plugs, new distributor cap and rotor, and new seat upholstery. This car runs down the road very well and will keep up with traffic on the highway. There are minor nicks, scratches and dents in the car as can be seen in the pictures, but all are minor and will need little. I would suggest the convertible top be replaced as well as a respray to get it into show condition. You can just drive it like it is and constantly answer questions from people like "What year is that?", and listen to the "when I had one of those" stories. I enjoy driving it, but have another project to get to and would like to see this car go to a loving, caring home. The key for the door is the same for the ignition, there are seatbelts in the front as well as the rear and the radio works! There is one small tear in the upholstery that happened upon install on the back of the bottom seat cover for the passenger side seat. I would not hesitate to drive this anywhere. Being 41 years old, I must sell this car in as is condition with no warranty written or implied. A $500.00 deposit will be made within 48 hours of vehicle sale and vehicle will be picked up within 10 days of sale. All funds will need to be deposited and confirmed before vehicle can be released. If you are local, you can pick it up and drive it home, or if you need it to be shipped, I can work with your shipping company. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them.

2014 Volkswagen Beetle GSR is black and yellow, black and yellow

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

Way back in 1973, Volkswagen decided it was high time to take the loveable air-cooled Bug racing. No, it wasn't painted in Herbie colors - Volkswagen called its sport-tuned machine the Beetle GSR, "Gelb Schwarzer Renner" or "Yellow Black Racer." Hence, the somewhat shocking paint scheme.
VW is bringing its sporty black and yellow Beetle back for 2014, and you can see live photos of it above. It's got a 210-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood (that'd be the hood up front, unlike the car's forebear), and a six-speed manual or DSG automatic transmission sends those ponies to the front wheels. Note that this car's output is up 10 horses on other turbo VWs, and the Jetta GLI and Beetle Turbo for 2013. The 0-60 run takes 6.6 seconds, and top speed is limited to 130 miles per hour.
Besides the in-your-face black and yellow paint, the GSR is outfitted with a large rear spoiler and 19-inch wheels shod with 235/40 tires. The bee-like hue carries over inside, with yellow stitching on black leather. Only 3,500 will be produced, each with its own unique plaque. Pricing has not yet been announced, but you're free to read through the press release below all the same.

VW budget sub-brand stuck in limbo over VW standards, costs

Sat, 01 Mar 2014

Reports in October 2012 claimed Volkswagen had begun investigating the creation of its own budget brand. This came after having failed to purchase Malaysian car company Proton or produce a meaningful partnership with Suzuki, and after watching Renault-Nissan make piles of euro on Dacia and plot the return of Datsun.
For VW, more important than the question of what to call it was how to build it profitably and in a way that didn't damage the VW brand. According to a report in Autocar, a satisfactory answer still hasn't been found. The hurdle is how to hit "'necessary' quality and safety levels" at the price points needed to make the venture worthwhile. At the time of the 2012 report, German outlet Der Spiegel said VW was trying to get prices down to 6,000 to 8,000 euro ($7,784 to $10,379 US), about two thousand to four thousand euro under the price of the VW Up and in line with the cost of a 6,790-euro Dacia Sandero in Germany.
In March 2013, VW announced, "We want to bring a true budget car to the market in China in the foreseeable future," the most concrete move in that direction after years of planning to make a decision. Working with local Chinese maker FAW, it was predicted that the vehicle in question would appear around 2016, but as of November last year a final vote on it needed to wait until this year because "We are still working on the cost side" and profit possibilities for a car that "has to be durable, it has to be precise, it has to be safe."
