Location:

 1962 VW Beetle

Up for sale is my 1962 VW Beetle in stock condition and 99% original parts.
I will try to describe it to the best of my knowledge.

This is a clean bug with no rust at all, very clean and straight chassis and strong
body with all original german fenders, hood, engine lid, headlights and rear lights.
Back bumper is original and front is an excellent quality reproduction from Wolfsburg West
purchased back in 2003 and still shines like new.

Original color is L390 Gulf Blue and exterior was repainted once while interior keeps original
paint from factory.  Paint has seen better years with minor bumps most noticeable one in
front passenger side fender. Some rubber is new as fender beadings, tailight housings, lid nose
and front markers.   All other rubber for windows, engine lid and hood is burned out.

107k original documented miles. 95k in 2000, 99k in 2002, 102k in 2003
and have not been driven much since then to actual 107k mileage in 2014.

Interior original paint looks nice with AM working radio, great condition steering wheel,
refurbished seats back in 2003 still looks great and original door panels all around.
Just needs a new carpet and headliner.  Seat belts for front and back.
Original VW keys.

All lights and turn signals working, horn is there but not connected.
Rims sandblasted and painted gulf blue inside and off white outside.

Suspension is in great condition with torsion adjusters installed to lower
the front a little bit.  Original trunk liner and matching spare tire.

Super clean chassis with absolutely no rust.

California clear title with black/yellow license plates.

Custom front and rear aluminum license plate frames
along with Deutschland bumper sign.

Engine is 1200 cc and running great with all of its original components.
I really don't know if the engine is for this car from factory but
checking wolfsburg west website this car was built July 1961
and engine # 5873404 shows as June 1961.
Pink slip shows 1st year sold 1961 with year model 1962.
If you know better than me and can check this information you
may be getting an all numbers matching car that are so rare to find these days.

Have plenty of receipts for parts purchased and replaced since 2000
and regular mechanical services.

I'm sure something is forgotten so please do not hesitate to ask
any questions you may have as stated I will try to answer
to the best of my knowledge.

VW Beetle R is one mean bug

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

Volkswagen's R lineup currently consists of the Golf R in North America, and the too-cool-for-school Scirocco R in Europe. It hasn't exactly been a secret as to which VW would next get the R treatment; the German manufacturer reportedly confirmed that a hotter Beetle would be coming to the US. That announcement, in August 2011, was followed up by a production-ready Beetle R Concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
After some wait, we're finally seeing spy shots of the Beetle R in Germany. The mule shown in the images here is wearing the R-Line bodykit, which adds sportier front and rear fascias, side skirts, dual exhausts and a not-so-subtle spoiler. Topped off with Volkswagen's traditional, five-spoke R wheels, we'd be just fine with the Beetle R coming to market as is.
Our spy photographer, though, seems to think that the production R will get even sportier sheetmetal, which we take to mean the more assertive look shown on the Frankfurt show car. Larger intakes on the front fascia, a bigger rear spoiler and vertical vents on the rear bumper could all be upcoming. Whether a production model will include the concept's polished wheels (R cars haven't traditionally embraced that look), vented hood and the quad-tipped exhausts remains to be seen.

Andretti Autosport partners with Volkswagen for Global Rallycross season

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

Michael Andretti and Volkswagen have both been involved in Global Rallycross for a couple of years, but not together. Andretti Motorsports Marketing organized the final round of the 2012 GRC series in Las Vegas, and there were rumors then that Andretti was going to get in. Around the same time there were news reports that Volkswagen was preparing a 600-hp Polo Mk5 to race in the SuperCar class; the photo above is racer Anton Marklund in his privateer Marklund Motorsports Polo at the 2013 X-Games round in Los Angeles.
Now it's official: Andretti Autosport will campaign the 2014 GRC season with VWs. That's all that's been said for now, Andretti being busy at the moment launching four entries for IndyCar, two for Indy Lights and two for Pro Mazda. We have a feeling we'll be seeing the MkVII Golf involved, but the cars and the driver lineup will be presented at the Chicago Auto Show on February 6.

Europeans get first crack at new Golf Variant wagon

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Just last week, when we brought you news of a new Volkswagen Golf variant out and testing in Europe, we had no idea we were being so literal with out description. For it seems that VW has every intention of calling its new Golf wagon, making its Geneva debut, the "Golf Variant."
Odd/interesting sobriquets taken as read then, there's a lot to like about this new small wagon from VW. The Variant will shed some 232 pounds in this generation, and will come to market with two efficient TDI engines. Volkswagen isn't giving us displacement figures for either yet, but we're told the diesels will come with outputs of 110 and 150 horsepower. The 110-hp TDI BlueMotion Varient will be good for a whopping 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle, when mated to the six-speed manual transmission.
The German automaker has brought along an all-wheel-drive 4Motion version of the Gold Variant to bow in Geneva, as well, and a natural gas-burning TGI BlueMotion is said to be "in the pipeline."
