I have for sale a 73 TR6. This is an original O/D overdrive car. The kids would rather have a tent trailer than another car in the driveway.

It was parked for a few years due to a lack of spark.

I did spend enough time on the car to make it run again, which it does quite well. It was parked in '04 because it "lost spark". The owner removed the distributor and sent it out for rebuilding and found out the distributor was not the issue. I was the crappy tune up parts that were recently installed.

After getting the distributor back, it was never installed and the car sat. I brought it home and was planning on getting rid of the non-stock Recaro seats, as I don't fit them (I am 6'3" 275, I fit in the stock seats). I always buy overdrive cars for myself and this was no different.

I think the car was originally Mallard (a blue/green color), but the respray made it more green, so the blue is less evident. I could not get a good picture of the color, but the paint is a good solid 7-7.5 overall. The car desperately needs a good detailing.

I bought this with the notion that the TR6 prices are on the upswing and I wanted to get a car that was a good value. Overdrive TR6s are not always available, so I jumped on this when I saw it.

The good points of this car are that you should be able, with minimal effort, make it a good solid weekend car or if you are so inclined, a daily driver. By minimal effort I mean, just go through the car and check and replace worn/wear and tear items. Tune up and replace hoses, etc...

I got the car running, first with ether, then under it's own fuel. I flushed the tank, but it still has an "old fuel" smell to it. The carbs should be removed and cleaned at the very least. I just pulled them apart to check that they were not worn out and did  a very minor cleaning.

I did not want to spend a lot of time/money until I was able to get the car running.

The cooling system was still up and functional. The thermostat opened as it was supposed to when I had the car running. The rocker/valve cover gasket leaks and should be replaced. Small things like that should help to make the car more reliable/enjoyable.

The interior is in great condition. The seats are in good to very good condition with both having some holes on the outside portion of the seat backs due to the convertible folding top rack interference.

There was a new fuel tank installed while the car was down, but then they put fuel in it, in anticipation of getting the car going, but....

The car sits on near new Bridgestone Turanza 205/65R15 tires on what look to be mini lites or UK made, Minilite "style" 15x6 wheels/rims

The oil pressure was between 25 and 75 psi while I was running the car. While I did not drive it, I did run it until it was hot. There is a lot of oil to burn off of a car that has been sitting for a while.

I have looked the car over front to back, top to bottom. I see no evidence of crash damage. NONE. Even the front tow loops are intact.

The floors and trunk floor are rock solid. Great metal, no filler. Even under the battery there is no rust.

The door gaps are nice. I think the bonnet could use a little fiddling to get the fit just right, if you are picky.

Now the bad, which really isn't so bad given the overall condition of the car.

The trunk lid is rusty. There is a hole in the edge due to the car being in a parked in a carport for a few years before it was moved to a garage. Parked in '04, garaged in '06. But, the damage had been done. There is also, just starting, rust bubbling on the rear deck just in front of the trunk on the seams. I believe that this is due to improper sealing of the car before it was repainted, but it is there. I do have, and it is included with this car, as perfect a used trunk lid as you will find anywhere. Unfortunately it is red, so it will have to be color matched.

The original keys were lost by a shop that was doing some work for the previous owner. The shop owner was a neighbor so they did not really put up a stink. The shop used, from what I can tell, a GM ignition switch and left it hanging. Way to go!

The battery in the car is currently my winch battery. The battery in the car is dead, but I have it on a trickle charger. Sometimes they come back to life if you slowly charge them for a week or so. Don't laugh it works! I guess this is really not bad, just information.

It is missing the windshield fluid reservoir and pump, radio, jack, and trunk panels. I don't see anything else that is missing.

The last is that there is just some general tidying of the wiring to do. Not really that bad, but there are wires that go nowhere and others that probably just need to be hooked up. For instance, I hot wired the coil. They supplied a brand new 12v coil, but they also had a new ballast resistor on the firewall. I did not want to use a resistor with a 12v coil so I bypassed it and used a jumper.

Bottom line is, this car is a great looking, good running car. I think that it is a good value for the price. I don't have to sell it.

Other notes;

There is an aftermarket, facet?, fuel pump installed. The original camshaft operated mechanical pump is gone and the mount blanked off.

I have a new interior panel for the driver side of the dash side panel that goes with the car.

I think the rear shocks need to be rebuilt.

The overdrive switch stalk comes out of the switch. I think you could JB weld this back to the switch if you wanted or just replace the switch.

The front upper and lower grille finishers are both bad. Funny note, the car came with new ones, but they failed while there were in the package. The black plastic just fell off the piece. I guess that is not funny so much as sad that Moss is selling crap parts, or was. I hope the quality control issues have been taken care of....

There are miscellaneous scratches and chips in the paint.

about 1/2 of the chrome lug nuts need to be replaced, but if you do half, you should do them all. Chrome failed :(

I think that is about it. If you want to talk to me you should email through eBay and include you phone number. I will call you.

I have a clear Oregon title for the car signed over to me. If I sell the car in California, I have to get it titled in my name first, so out of state buyer is a plus!

I can deliver this for a reasonable amount within 1000 miles. By reasonable I mean just pay for fuel food and hotel.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
